Dear Mel,Thanks for explaining why your octagonal wood
deck is the way to go. You were right, when I priced the materials at our local Home Depot,
including pressure treated lumber, stainless hardware, and tools, etc., my cost would have
been very substantial. By the way, a couple contractor friends of mine
charge between $15 and $20 per square foot to install decks in homes around here, so your
price at $10 a square foot for the 10 ft. octagonal
