Manhole cover in cast iron. From the exhibition “Street pictures/Gatubilder”.

Epifania 1995

A glass table with a copper frame forms a vessel, which is filled with water. A drop of water falls in the centre of the vessel and spreads out as a ring. The wave casts its shadow on the floor. When the wave reaches the parabolic copper shape, it bounces back and forms four straight waves, which, when they meet, for a short moment create a cross.

Lacrima Christi 1995

A colour-TV shows a black-and-white image of Jesus. Water drips on the screen and runs down his face, the water working as a lens enlarges the pixels on the screen. The teardrops shimmer in the primary colours RGB.

Conception/Konception

A 75 meter long aluminium balloon filled with helium. “Beach Art” Ljungskile, Sweden.

1996

Fireplace

Stoneware town burning with lamp oil.

1994 Pinocchio 2000

A box with a 500 meter long plastic tube on a roll. When you press a pedal, a voice says, in English: - Art can change the world. Then an air compressor starts and the inflated tube grows a bit longer.

Tracer II

Two systems of opaque plastic pipe. In each, a cartridge carrying light moves with the speed of 50 km/hour. ( Pictures taken with long exposure time.)

1998

Whisk

5 wires, 10 m. long with 1000 white LEDs, which all can be switched on and off individually. The 5 light-wires spin like big skipping-ropes, two revolutions per second. A computer, which also revolves, switches the LEDs on and off so that animated patterns are created on the revolving surface. Bitmap pictures, text etc. can be sent to the sculpture via radio link.Made for the Swedish Pavilion Expo 2000, Hanover.

Armclock/Armur

A kinetic sculpture that shows the time. The three-piece hand consists of hour-, minute- and second-hand. The point of the hour-hand is the centre of the minute-hand, the point of the minute-hand is the centre of the second-hand.

Guise 1995

Scale model, 1:20. Fountain with water film. Height in full size 5 metres. Not realized.

The whisperer 1999

A trickster squirts water into a big, ear shaped basin. The ear is filled to the brim and then empties. Bronze and brick. “Park of the senses”, Almåsparken, Borås, Sweden.

Fall from grace 1997

In six small lanterns ethylene plastic burns and drips down to the ground with a whining sound. The falling drops form blue pearl-strings, and flash when they hit the ground.

Step-motor animations

A disc lit by a stroboscopic light rotates. The disc is covered with a series of pictures which move in a spiral from the outer edge to the centre. The observer can follow the film along a radius inwards. Like in memory one can move freely back and forth in time, here you can switch track anytime to repeat a sequence.

Proposal for Raoul Wallenberg memorial 1998History

as we call the great events of the world hits the individual with furious force, almost impossible to defend yourself against. The sculpture, which maps the streets of Budapest, is also a tornado with its centre in the blocks where Raoul Wallenberg did his work, stood up to this force. It engulfed him. The months in Budapest were, should have been, a short time in a young persons life. In Raoul Wallenberg's life these months turned out to be what attached him in the history, our memory. For us, the tornado seems like a part of sacred architecture, a memorial for the good deeds we need in our history. For Wallenberg himself, the pillar is instead a vortex down into oblivion, the ceiling like prison bars.

Crucified 1998

Montage of Rogier van der Weydens Crucifixion and a bill sticker.

Foetus 1994-2000 A system of transparent tubes and a pump that drives round a liquid with small particles in it. These are made of an afterglow material on one side and red luminous tape on the other. The light is absorbed in the illuminated double spiral on the wall and is then pumped behind a black curtain, where the light emits like a pulsating embryo.

Striptease 1998

Two synchronized video projectors casts shadows of a stripper on a small stage (70 x 100 cm).

Teleportations 2000

The elevator has become the one part of the station that everything emanates from, in spite of not existing in the original plan. I have seized upon that change and emphasized the elevator as an element of form by giving it a different surface - yellow chromatic plate - and an optical, wry-looking tile-pattern, which gives the huge elevator an unstable fundation. The spirals out of the wall and the ring-pattern, “holes”, in the floor, generates from the elevators field of force. The mosaic figures originally were

laboratory animals (monkey, cat, frog, rabbit). They would have been teleported from the ticket-hall to different destinations in the metro system. These early experiments failed, and the walls of the ramp are covered with fragmentised animals. Only one animal, a frog, is discernible. The rest of the walls are decorated with shapes looking like fire-balls or tadpoles, streaming out to the platform.

Extarsia 1997

Small landscapes, cut and pulled out like telescopes from tabletops.

3-D Flag 2001

In a shop-window, a grating of strips of yellow, blue and black filter are glued on to the glass. Inside is a TV, showing a flag, flying in the wind. The video is made with two cameras. The two films are colour-separated in blue and yellow and then put together. Standing close to the window, looking in, you get a yellow and a blue filter in front of your eyes and will experience a three-dimensional flag.
