St. Peter's invites you to our

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION FOR

CORPUS CHRISTI The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

May 29, 2016

Following the 11:30 am Mass

The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ is a celebration of the great gift that Jesus has

given us in the Eucharist—His own Body and Blood. This feast day was begun in 1264 by Pope

Urban IV, at the request of St. Juliana of Mont Cornillon. The tradition of having a procession with

the Eucharist was developed about the same time. Our participation in this great tradition will be

an opportunity to worship our Lord in the Eucharist and to proclaim to the local community our

belief in the Real Presence of Jesus' Body and Blood in the Eucharist. While processing around our

neighborhood, we will sing hymns, say prayers, and pause to receive Benediction from Jesus

Himself, who is truly present in the Holy Eucharist.

The procession will begin immediately following the 11:30 Mass. For those attending a different Mass, please meet us outside the front doors of St. Peter's Church at about 12:30 to join the procession. This is an event for the whole family from young children to adults. The route this year will be around our neighborhood, and will end at the Church with a feast including hotdogs and shaved ice.

What is your Spiritual Charism? To follow up with the Spiritual Gifts Workshop in October 2015, we will look at each of the Charisms presented. The final Charism is WRITING. The Charism of Writing empowers a Christian to be a channel of God’s creativity by using words to create works of truth or beauty that reflect the fullness of human experience and bring glory to God. Examples of using this charism are having a blog, using Facebook, poetry, and jump from journaling.

5th Sunday Collection – Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be at the church doors after the Masses on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, 2016. Your generous contributions will continue to support their ongoing works of charity for the poor and disadvantaged.

Schola will be singing Easter Refrain with “Vita Sanctorum” this Sunday prior to the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Below is the English translation:

Refrain (Psalm 118)

Let Israel now confess that he is gracious: and that his mercy endureth forever.

verses:Life of thy saints and glory of thine angels,Christ, who art life of all who strive to love thee,Who, by thy dying on the cross didst vanquish Death’s ministration

Save in these holy days of peace thy servants, Guard and sustain by pledges of thy triumph,For now thy Pascal feast throughout the wide worldJoy in thy keeping

Feast when from hell as victor thou returningWhen thou hadst loosed the fathers that were sleeping,Bearedst the flesh that thou didst take upon theeUnto the high stars.

Now thou art Lord resplendent in the highest,And o’er the heavens, God, thou art exalted,Thence thou shalt come, O God and man, in glory,Judge, at the world’s end.

One miracle of Pentecost was that, despite their diversity, each listener heard God’sword in his or her own language. The meaning for stewardship is that, by sharing the

gifts poured out on us by the Holy Spirit, we will be empowered to meet the needsof our brothers and sisters, whatever they may be.
