Associated with assessment
Professional Development 2 (BFP2100) builds on PD1.
Individual assessment (30%):Individual based work relates to your
career and employment goals. Block teaching content is specific to this task. The individual assessment is due week 9.
Using Pebblepad individual students develop a ‘webfolio’ which shows a visual display of professionalism, skills, experience, and aspirations.
Webfolios can be a useful extension of a resume /CV and are able to be accessed by including a weblink .
Example Student WebfolioStudents create a webfolio cover-page to
introduce themselves to potential employers...
The side bar is used to navigate the webfolio.
Example Student WebfolioStudents explain three (3) examples of PAST
evidence to support their aspirations. Evidence relates to academic, co-curricula, and personal experiences.
Graphics and ‘links’ are added to provide a visual display of evidence.
Example Student WebfolioStudents explain three (3) examples of
CURRENT evidence to support their aspirations. Evidence relates to academic, co-curricula, and personal experiences.
Graphics and ‘links’ are added to provide a visual display of evidence.
Example Student WebfolioStudents state their short-term and long-
term goals, and ‘link’ additional evidence such as a resume/CV and career plan.
For team assessments, students develop their own ‘corporate social responsibility’ project idea for a selected organisation.
Project ideas commonly relate to:
Health
Injury Prevention
Environmental Protection
Community Involvement
Corporate Governance
Organisational / employee well-being
Education
Some organisations previously used for team assessments include:
PD2 team assessments:1.Prepare a written business concept
proposal with a clear element of CSR
(2A = 15%).
2.Present and ‘pitch’ the proposal to the
‘business decision maker’ (2B = 10%).
3.Present 5 x ‘oral updates’ relating to the research and preparation of the proposal and plan (3A = 20%).
4.Based on the proposal, prepare a written plan to implement the project (3B = 25%).
In PD2, the project work is completed as team-based assessments. In WEEK 1, your project teams are
formed and the team commences work on the project.
The first assessable ‘oral update’ is in week 3.
100% attendance and active participation in project team meetings in seminars IS A MUST to successfully develop the team proposal and plan.
Other lecturers are commonly invited to attend proposal presentations. Within the hypothetical scenario -prepare
assessments with an ‘industry audience’ in mind.
Use the ‘workshop environment’ to practice:
Useful skills and knowledge
Networking
Working on industry-based projects
Some examples of materials that support ‘presentation pitch’ for proposals:
Sample ‘healthy’ product.
Store layout / product placement to encourage ‘health range’.
Poster to communicate and market health-aware product.
PowerPoint slideshow to support charitable donations initiative.
Executive Summary handout to support a project to increase consumer awareness of buying fresh local produce.
Banner to demonstrate project aim and motto.
Guidelines for Grouping:
1.Consists different genders
2.Consists different nationalities
3.Consists different majors
