Kindergarten Tidbits- Mrs. Whitlock

First grade – Mrs. Wolbrecht

Wow! Our first year of school is almost finished. The students are remembering all our “firsts” and we are doing many

things that we did at the first of the Kindergarten year.

Several moms are busy planning our closing celebration. I am so grateful for them. If you have not turned in your dona-

tion to help out, please do so right away. We also need a number of how many will be coming from your family for

graduation.

This week we are finishing by reviewing before and after numbers. We will play “Take a Chair” to check how fast we can

do our addition facts. Story problems will be reviewed with identifying combinations and answers. Clocks will be re-

viewed but we will add the written words “fifteen” and “thirty”. We will count by 1,2,5, and 10’s and spell our number

words matching them with the correct number. A calendar will be reviewed adding days, numbers and months. All of our

coins will be reviewed for identification, value and counting. We will introduce the dollar bill.

Phonics will be all review of blends, special sounds, marking and reading words and sentences. We will rearrange a story

that is out of order and identify what is first, second and last.

Handwriting will be reviewed and practiced.

We will finish up our Science Units.

Any free time we will be practicing for Graduation.

Our last Bible story unit is about Paul and the shipwreck. We will talk about how we have grown in our faith in God this

year. God is involved in everyone’s life whether they realize it or not. When we obey God and listen to Him, He will help

us through any and every part of our life. We can Panic or pray; worry or worship. “ We know in all things God works

for the good of those who love Him. . ” Romans 8:28

Our memory verse is Psalms 91:15 “He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will de-

liver him and honor him.”

In Bible Time we will review and recite all of our verses memorized this year and have daily devotions looking at a quiet

time with God each day. If you have a Bible that your child could bring to school please send it. The children love look-

ing through the words in the Bible. We have talked about how much our faith in God has grown this year. The children

know they love God and that God loves them!

Thank you parents, for a wonderful year! I am truly humbled by all the support from everyone of you. “May God bless

you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and

give you peace.” Num-

bers 6:24-26

Mrs. Whitlock

Thank you to everyone who joined us on our adventure to Blackberry Farms last week! It was so much fun!

Next Tuesday*, May 23, we will be taking a trip to Ottawa! We plan to leave the school at 10:00 and drive to Washington

Park which is the site of the first Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858. We will have lunch at the park and review some of

what we learned about President Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War and more!

After lunch we will travel up the road to Illinois Canyon which is part of the Starved Rock State Park. We will check out

plant life, insects and bugs, hunt for spear and arrowheads, skip rocks, probably get a little wet and muddy and just have

fun! We plan to be back to school before 3:00 dismissal. I do have 3 chaperones and am able to transport all the students,

however, any parents are welcome to come along.

2nd Grade - Mrs. Bickett

1st grade continued~

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A PACK LUNCH (I will have a cooler), WATER BOTTLE, SUN BLOCK AND BOOTS OR WATER SHOES. *Rain date will be Thursday, May 25. On Wednesday, May 24, at 1:00 we will tour the Princeton Fire Department and then have a treat at Dairy Queen before heading back to school. We will return no later than 2:30. Bible: We are reviewing the life of Christ this week and being reminded that we have an escape plan from our sinful lives if we trust in the one true God! For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but

have everlasting life. John 3:16 Please keep reading and counting your coins and dollars! In His Hands, Mrs. Wolbrecht

A BIG THANK YOU to all parents and grandparents who drove and chaperoned our field trip to Blackberry Farm! It

was a wonderful day!! Thanks for making it possible!

We are winding down the school year. This week we have our last spelling list. We will test over list 32 on Friday.

Our verse this week is Acts 16:31 “They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved- you and your

household.” We will recite this verse on Friday. In Bible class we will be looking at how Paul and Silas were wit-

nesses for the Lord and how we can share Jesus with others.

This is our last week of homework!

The last two weeks are going by so quickly! How bittersweet it is! We are excited to be going on the Field Trip

Thursday to Wildlife Prairie Park ad it is hard to stay focused but we push on.

Math - The children are learning about fractions in Math. Soon I will introduce double digit multiplication and

division before the last day.

Spelling - List 34 is the last one for the year. We will test on Monday the 22nd.

Language - We are still working on sentence structure and I will be introducing diagramming.

History - From Laura Ingalls Wilder to finish the year discussing Billy Sunday and Martin Luther King.

Science - The last week we will study weather. Right now we are doing soil studies and preparing for our field

trip where we will learn a little about prairie life and trees.

Bible - has been an amazing journey through the early part of the church in the book of Acts. Our Bible verse is

Acts 9:17b. The conversion of Saul to the great man of God, Paul.

Reading - Pilgrims Progress. I am reading this book to the children and it is a wonderful book written about a

Christian journey to heaven.

This Thursday please have your child ready for a great day. Good walking shoes, sunscreen, mosquito repellant are good preps for our field trip. We plan to return to school by 2:30 or shortly thereafter. It will be a whirlwind tour of a very special place. We are sure to have a great time.

In Christ,

Mrs. Cleary

4th Grade - Mrs. Odell

8th grade homeroom and Jr. High Math - Mrs. Anderson

We are reviewing Acts 1:8 and Romans 10:14-15.

We’re going to test on spelling list 34 tomorrow and then we will have finished spelling for this year. We

are testing on vocabulary words that are in our reading. We are going through the World Wars in history. The children

should be drilling on the states and capitals and the presidents, too. We will end the year with tests on these things.

Enjoy your week!!
