According to a study conducted by SanDisk, users waste as much as a full work week annually to PC

    problems and slowdowns:

    loading-machines

For instance, computer users in the USA waste 4.9 days a year, UK users more than 5.5 days, and users

in Italy lose a whole 6.8 days per year because of a slow PC.

Auslogics products are designed to speed up computers and prevent PC users from losing their time.

In order to speed up PCs, we have studied the ways people use their computers, including:

    - usage times

    - common PC activities

    - activities, during which users may experience the most negative impact from PC slowness

    Time spent using a PC

We have polled our users and other people within our target audience and found that on average they

spend about 5.17 hours a day using a PC. Total number of users polled: 700.

    Avg hours /day

    Users % of Users

    1 28 4.00%

    2 57 8.14%

    3 94 13.43%

    4 106 15.14%

    5 166 23.71%

    6 73 10.43%

    7 61 8.71%

    8 43 6.14%

    9 23 3.29%

    10 22 3.14%

    11 17 2.43%

    12 10 1.43%

User actions affected the most by PC slowdown:

    1. Software installation (average time spent per week = 12 minutes)

    2. File copying (average time spent per week = 11 minutes 48 seconds)

    3. File backup (average time spent per week = 4 minutes 20 seconds)

    4. Application launching (average time spent per day = 108 seconds)

    5. File opening (average time spent per day = 55 seconds)

    6. File saving (average time spent per day = 17 seconds)

    7. Windows Explorer opening (average time spent per day = 40 seconds)

    8. Browsing Windows Explorer (average time spent per day = 64 seconds)

Therefore, every hour, an average PC user wastes time on:

    1. Application launching = 21 seconds

    2. File opening = 11 seconds

    3. File saving = 3 seconds

    4. Windows Explorer opening = 8 seconds

    5. Browsing Windows Explorer = 13 seconds

The effect of PC optimization measures on the speed of specific tasks

In order to maximize the effectiveness of our computer optimization software, we have conducted

extensive testing of how PC maintenance measures affect PC performance.

Disk defragmentation was found to improve the speed of software installation by 7-19%, file opening

speed by 7-25%, application launching speed - by 7-25%, file copying by up to 11%, file backup by

up to 7%, PC startup by 5.5%.

RAM optimization improves software installation speed by 2%, file opening by 5%, application

launching by 13%, file copying by 2%, file backup by up to 5%, Windows Explorer opening by 4%,

and Windows Explorer browsing speed by 2%.

Processor optimization improves software installation speed by 8%, file opening speed - by 8%,

application launching by 15%, page loading speed - by 3%, backup speed by 19%, Windows Explorer

opening speed by 5%, Windows Explorer browsing speed by 5%.

I/O improves software installation speed by 4%, file opening speed - by 11%, application launching - by

3%, file copying - by 12%, file backup by 10%.

Applying tweaks from the BoostSpeed kit speeds up PC shutdown by 27.5%, Windows Explorer opening -

by 15%, Windows Explorer browsing - by 22%, PC startup - by 1%.

Registry cleanup can improve PC shutdown speed by 0.5%, PC startup - by 1%.

*all data collected from tests conducted on 28 computers (desktops and laptops) running Windows XP,

Windows Vista or Windows 7 belonging to focus group participants.
