Has anyone ever stereotyped you before? Did they judge you based on your race or ethnicity? Have people made assumptions about you based on the color of your skin or

where you are from?

In this project, we will be debunking stereotypes using statistics and investigating the role of media and culture in establishing these stereotypes. For example, we’ll explore black-on-black crime, people who steal, AAPI, and more.

Have fun with us while we figure out if the numbers lie! Join this PBL if you’d like a chance to creatively present your findings, too.

Stereotypes or Nah!

How has COVID-19 Affected Our Health (even if we didn’t get it)?

As we all can agree, we have all been affected by COVID-19. Whether it be physically, and/or mentally, it is important to study the effects that is has had on society as a whole.

In this group, explore and examine the impacts it has had in the following areas:

● Make personal connections in some way for each student● Everlasting effects on physical/mental health ● Enhance your knowledge of real-world topics that go beyond the classroom setting ● Putting a name to feelings that they experienced during COVID

Make it personal, we’ll be showcasing our findings in a Podcast!

COVID-19’s Impact On Our Minority Communities

Reliable and timely data is critical to identify the populations most vulnerable to COVID-19 or any other infectious disease. Currently, however, only a small proportion of data reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention includes information on a patient’s race or ethnicity.

But, many of us live and breathe these minority communities! This is our opportunity to explore and discover how this ravenous virus has impacted our communities in the short-term as well as the long term!

Don’t be a Zombie When reading news on social media do you find yourself a member of the “walking dead” unable to make your own opinion? Do you ever find yourself confused about what’s true or not? Do you listen to others with opposing views?

Well here is your chance to break free of the mindless mob of followers and become a free thinker.

Sports Analytics

With the advent of modern data collection technology the world of athletics has been inundated with sports analytics. Come join us in analyzing this world of sports at the data metric level. Who was the best basketball player ever? Was it Michael or is it Lebron? How would we measure this with available data? Are more three pointers taken today or in 1987? Does the team that shoots best always win the game? Is it fair to compare Joe Namath to Aaron Rodgers? How have times in the 100 meter dashed changed over time?

In sports analytics, you will develop your own project to research and analyze. You choose the sport. You choose the question to research. You do the research. You share your analysis.

This Oral History Project examines the intersection of past racial equity and current events (for example, BLM, insurrection of the capitol, Asian American Pacific Islander violence, Me Too Movement) through a series of oral reports,

interviews, and recordings.

In this project, you will compose interview questions to ask of people who have experienced/lived through the Civil Rights Movement and compare their

experiences to present day.

Come learn about the past and current issues, report your findings in a compelling way and create a lasting historical artifact.

● Have you ever wanted to interview someone? ● Have you ever wanted to record yourself having a

conversation with someone who experienced life changing events?

● Do you know someone who has experienced historical moments?

● Would you like to preserve those moments in time?

Explore ways to help our community return to normal during the time of a pandemic. Learn about the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the vaccine. Create an environment where information regarding Covid-19 and vaccine use is easily and readily accessible.

Social Media CampaignThe energy crisis is the concern that the world’s demands on the limited natural resources that are used to power industrial society are diminishing as the demand rises. These natural resources are in limited supply. While they do occur naturally, it can take hundreds of thousands of years to replenish the stores. Governments and concerned individuals are working together to make the use of renewable resources a priority and to lessen the irresponsible use of natural supplies through increased conservation. The energy crisis is a broad and complex topic. You will be exploring this topic for your project. You will determine best solution for our energy crisis currently. Explore possible environmental impacts and future implications such as space exploration, quality of life and future inventions for your energy choice.

Don’t you hate it when someone doesn’t text you back? Do you ever feel weird when someone texts you instead of call? Do you think that social media is the best way for you to communicate your feelings and manage your relationships? Do you feel anxious when you have to call someone?
