Security mode with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

The Bluetooth Low Energy Serial Port Adapters supports 5 security modes

• Security Disable– no pairing is needed and the module will accept all connections.

• Fixed Pin– a passkey will be used to authenticate. (AT*AGFP2 command)

• Just Works– basically just means that pairing is by default disabled. To pair, pairing must be enabled and during

this time all pairing attempts will succeed.(Please note that if the Just Works mode is set, pairing is automatically disabled. This means that even if security is then set another mode, pairing is still disabled.)

• Display Only– used by a device if the other device uses Keyboard Only. The display side (e.g. PC) displays a

passkey that must be entered on the keyboard side. The host of the display side get the *AGUPD event when it is time to display a passkey.

• Keyboard Only– a passkey will be used to authenticate. (AT*AGUPE command)

What difference of BLE and Bluetooth

BLE is less distance/range and data transfer, but reduce time to connect and power consumption, network connection can using one-to-one or one-to-many (like Wi-Fi)
