Pay Fair Trade Forward - letter to cafes

Hello there! Thank you for signing up to participate in Pay Fairtrade Forward Day 2016 on Friday 13 May. By taking part in our campaign, you are joining a growing list of cafés across the country that are showing their support for the fair trade movement and what it stands for: the idea that coffee bean growers and farmers in developing nations deserve to be paid fairly for their produce. First brewed up in 2010, Pay Fair Trade Forward has become one of the biggest dates on P3 Foundation’s calendar. P3 Foundation stands for putting poverty in the past. We are a youth-led, Kiwi organisation that aims to eradicate extreme-poverty in Asia and the Pacific before 2030. We love fair trade because of its unique approach to poverty alleviation. It doesn’t work with hand-outs or charity but instead ensures farmers in developing nations aren’t exploited or underpaid for their produce. It helps them trade their own way out of poverty – fairly. Your main role is to promote the campaign in your café and give customers a brief rundown on the fair trade movement. To make things easier for you, we’ve included some materials to help promote the campaign, and a booklet to give to your staff so they know how the campaign works! Although it takes some commitment on the day, you’re bound to get a lot out of the experience too. Feedback over the past years has shown that customers have loved the idea – and if you end up with lots of people taking part, there may even be a bit of publicity involved. At the end of the day though, the real gains come from the simple act of doing something good. Much like a good cup of coffee, this should also make you feel pretty warm inside. So gear up the coffee grinders and get set for 13 May. Let’s go change the world – one coffee at a time. If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact your local café liaison or myself at any time. Thanks again! Hello there!

Thank you for signing up to participate in Pay FairtradeForward Day 2016 on Friday 13 May.
