Use the form on Page 11 to renew your dues. For more
information on dues, see the Q&A on page 10. You
may now pay your dues via PayPal at the club website

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday
season. The Christmas Social was so much fun. The new year
is already gearing up. Please look at your calendar and
schedule time to help with club activities. Whether you can
teach or assist with a class or serve on a committee; we cannot
operate without you. Also, let's get the membership renewals
completed so your membership doesn't lapse. Let's make
2013 the best year ever!

(Left to Right: Stella Moore, Stewards Terri Schurr, Felicia Ruhter, Victor Borras & Peggy Phelps)
(not pictured above: Stewards Cassie Frank, Susan Stout & Debra Tanguay)
Stella Moore said a Huge Thank You…to our club volunteers who stewarded for the Texas Kennel Club December 7th
, 2012 as part of
the Lone Star State Classic dog show. Everyone did a thoroughly professional job and DTCDC gets the benefit of $200 for providing
stewards for the two obedience rings. Both AKC judges and the TKC Obedience Committee gave words of praise for our stewards. The
stewards, on the other hand, get to wake up very early, drive a long distance, park far away and then stand on concrete all day raising and
lowering jumps. They do this with good spirits and encouraging smiles for the nervous exhibitors. Again, I was so very proud of our
group and how they conducted themselves. Thank you each and every one of you for your willingness to participate in this event.

DECK THE PAWS
There were quite a few club members who braved the chilly night to attend Deck the Paws at Uptown Village in Cedar Hill. Our
booth was lighted in Christmas lights and all attendees were dressed in their holiday cheer. Donna Heishman provided an awesome
holiday sign. Gem was there with her beautifully decorated cart. And we all got a giggle out of McKenzie riding in the cart like a true
princess with her Santa hat. Thank you to Peggy and Francine for providing a nice demonstration for the crowd. And many thanks to
Greg for being the emcee.
Please thank the following who gave their time to help our club be
a part of this community event: Terri Schurr & Chester, Peggy
Phelps with Rocket, Stryker & Rowdy, Jan Bruner & Beau,
Felicia Ruhter with Lily & Sophie, Francine Gaynor & Gem,
Sandi Myers & Cyan, Susan Stout & Jonah, Carol Wright &
Krystal.
These events are a true testament to our mission. The opportunity
to meet and talk with all sorts of people about dog training is a
wonderful experience.
Merry Christmas to everyone!!

BRAGS & WAGS
!!!!!!!! OTCH !!!!!!!
Peggy Phelps brags that she and Darlene and their fur kids went to Conroe. Stryker needed
18 points for his OTCH. On Saturday he got 4 for a 2nd in Utility. On Sunday he had a 1st in
Utility and Open B for HIT and High Combined and a total of 18 points. Stryker now has his
AKC OTCH! She’s very proud of that boy!
Jan Bruner brags that Beau finished both his Beginner Novice and Rally Novice title last weekend (at the Lone Star Classic). I
am very proud of him. Thanks to all who have helped us with instruction and support!
Sandie Weber brags, “I entered my bl/wh Parti Cocker boy I bred as a special and my bl/tan Black Cocker girl as a special in the
Lone Star Cocker Specialty and all 3 days of the Lone Star Classic in Dallas. In the Specialty show, Hope took Best of Op (1 pt)
and Ty got a Select (2 pt). On Friday Hope took Best of Op for 1 pt again and Ty got Best of Variety, going over another CH of
Record and a 3 pt major. We went to Group as if we really belonged there! Lots of fun! This meant he only needed to go over 1
more CH of Record for his Grand Championship. Along comes Saturday: The Cocker judge is Carl Anderson, a noted, highly
respected Cocker Breeder/ Judge (in Cockers for around 40-50 years). Again Hope took Best of Op for 1 pt. and Ty took Best of
Op going over another CH of Record for a 3 pt major and his GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP! I turned my back and cried for joy (real
tears ran down my cheeks!) Hope has to beat 2 more CH of Record to receive her Grand Championship and there are very few
Specials being shown in Blacks right now so don't know when we will get another chance at it. She has 4 majors and 30 points
right now. Ty finished his Grand Championship with 44 points and 10 majors. I have yet to come down off Cloud 9!”
Sheryl Archer brags on Party’s record in 2012:
AKC CD title: Showed 21 times:
7 -1st places, 7- 2nd places, 3 - 3rd places, 4 - 4th places. 1- High in Trial.
Won 3 of 3 run-offs.
AKC GN title: showed 3 times:
3 - 1st places.
UKC CD title: showed 4 times:
3- 1st places, 1- 2nd place.
AKC CDX title: showed in Open B 18 times:
1- 2nd place, 3 - 3rd places, 3- 4th places. Won 2 of 2 run-offs
Party`s official name is now: U-CD Benden`s XS Celebration , HIT, CDX, GN, CD,
RN.

Q & A ON ANNUAL RENEWAL OF CLUB DUES
Q: Dues are payable by what date?
A: January 1.
Q: How much are dues:
A: Associate $20
Individual $40
Family: $50
Q: What happens if dues are not paid by January 1?
A: There is a 30 day grace period until January 31 before dues are considered lapsed.
Q: What happens if dues are not paid by January 31?
A: A membership application must be completed and given to the membership chair for presentation to the board. After
board approval, the applicant must attend the next general club meeting where the general membership in attendance will
vote to reinstate the membership. Dues payment remitted to the Treasurer is required at that time. If the dues payment
and vote by the general membership on the application does not occur before the next January 1 the applicant must begin
the application process from the beginning by taking two classes and then applying form membership again.
Q: What if full payment of dues is not possible?
A: Start making installments now. Contact the Treasurer now privately so that the Treasurer is aware of the
special circumstances.
Q Can I pay my dues before January 1?
A: You betcha!
NOTE: See the following page for a form to submit your dues for 2013.
2013 Dues Are Due by January 1st, 2013

nated if such member's dues remain unpaid after January 31st of each Club year. In no case may a person be entitled to a vote at any Club meeting
whose dues are unpaid as of the date of that meeting.
Please review the complete Bylaws if you have any questions about paying your Dues on time. We hope this reminder will help you to renew in a
timely manner. Another note to remember, anyone that doesn’t pay their dues by January 31st will not be able to train without paying for classes.
Those people will also need to immediately turn in any KEYS to the Training Director or President as they will no longer be a member of the club.
