Crews will add to that percentage this week as they pave sections of I-71/670 overnight. You'll see a lot of paving during the next several weeks as construction crews wrap up this first phase of the Columbus Crossroads project. But paving isn't a one-step dance. Milling and prep work must be done first. Milling is the process of removing some or the entire existing pavement to set up for the new asphalt. Crew-members (above) are using a milling machine, which grinds up the road's surface in preparation for the new pavement.

Paving The Crossroads Way Ninety-three percent of the roads paved in America are surfaced with asphalt. Crews willadd to that percentage this week as they pave sections of I-71/670 overnight. A very special delivery arrived this week on the project. The art panels for the Long StreetCultural Wall made it to Columbus from the manufacturer in California. Sixty 4x8 foot panelsthat will be erected on the Long Street bridge are still under wraps. But not for long! Plans areunderway for the big reveal this summer.

Starting at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, the ramp from I-670 west to I-71south/Spring St./Jack Gibbs Blvd. will close. Traffic will be detoured to State Rt. 315south to I-71 south.At 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday the I-71 south exit to Spring St. will close.All ramps will reopen by 5 am each morning.

Tuesday, May 27 thru Thursday, May 29(Jack Gibbs Blvd. closure)

Starting at 8 p.m. each night, Jack Gibbs Blvd. will close between Leonard Ave. andthe I-670 east off ramp.The road will reopen 5 a.m. daily.

Tuesday, May 27 thru Friday, May 30

(St. Clair Ave. reduced to one lane)

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, St. Clair Ave. will be reduced to one lane. A flagger willassist with traffic.

Tuesday, May 27 thru Friday, May 30

(Cleveland Ave. closure)

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily/until 12 p.m. on Friday, Cleveland Ave. will be reduced toone lane between Mt. Vernon Ave. and Jack Gibbs Blvd.

Tuesday, May 27 thru Thursday, May 29

(I-670 east to I-71 north ramp closure)

Starting at 8 p.m. each night, the ramp from I-670 east to I-71 north will close. Trafficwill be detoured on I-670 east to Leonard Ave. and I-670 west back to I-71 north.The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.

Thursday, May 29(I-71 north to I-670 west ramp closures)

Starting at 8 p.m., the I-71 north ramp to I-670 west will close. Traffic will be detouredon I-670 east to Leonard Ave. to I-670 west.The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m.

Friday, May 30 thru Saturday, May 31

(I-71 south closure)

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will close. Traffic willbe detoured State Rt. 315 south to I-71 south. The I-670 west ramp to Spring St. willremain open.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, the ramp from I-71 north to I- 670 east and west/LeonardAve. will close. Traffic will be detoured on I-71 north to 11th Ave. and back to I- 670east and west.Also at 8 p.m. Friday, the ramp from Spring St. to I-71 north/I-670 east will close atSpring St.All ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Friday, May 30 thru Wednesday, June 4

(Jack Gibbs Blvd. closure) will be closed

Starting at 7 a.m., Jack Gibbs Blvd. will close between Cleveland Ave. and St. ClairAve. Traffic will be detoured to 2nd St.All lanes will reopen by 11 p.m, June 4.

Now Through June 10

(Cleveland Ave. ramp to I-71 south remains closed)
