• Poetic Element: Rhythm– The rise and fall of the voice produced by

sounds– The “flow” or “beat” of the poem

• Poetic Element: Meter– Sounds in a poem that fall in a particular

pattern.– In this poem, the meter is made to sound like

a galloping horse. Da-da-Dum da-da-Dum

RHYME SCHEME

• DEFINITION: The pattern of rhyme between lines of a poem.

• It is usually referred to by using letters to indicate which lines rhyme. The rhyme usually refers to the last words of a line.
