A Valentine From Janet

In this month of sweethearts, romance, chocolates and

flowers, through this newsletter we want to remind you of

how much we treasure our relationship with each of you.

Without our loyal and committed donors, FiftyForward

could not touch the lives of more than 20,000 individuals and families in Davidson and

Williamson counties.

We ❤ you and we thank you.

When we think of February, usually our first thought is of Valentines Day, when we express our feelings through cards or gifts to special people in our lives. In that spirit, our FiftyForward Board and Staff send our deep appreciation and gratitude to each of you for your contributions that support our mission.

In countless ways, YOU and those we serve are at the heart of FiftyForward. Without your generosity we would have to curtail a number of our programs. Through your loving gifts, isolated seniors connect with others at a senior center, victims of crime get critical support, and adult children continue to work because their parent is engaged in our Adult Day Services program.

Therefore, February is the perfect occasion to remind you, once more, of the integral role you play as a member of the FiftyForward Family. We thank you for your continuing love and support.

Janet Jernigan is the Executive Director of FiftyForward.

Mission: FiftyForward enriches the lives of adults 50+ by providing

pathways to health, well-being and lifelong learning.

Your dollars enrich lives. Older adults count on FiftyForward. We depend upon private donations to sustain vital services, send meals, supplies and provide in home support. It is safe, fast and online. Look for the button. www.fiftyforward.org

Recently, a group of FiftyForward volunteers, representing a combined 150 years of supporting the organization, met to

define guidelines for a new major donor “giving circle.” The resulting FiftyForward Society will welcome individual donors of $1,000 or more during a calendar year. Their investment will sustain programs in all three areas of our mission: Centers, Volunteers (RSVP and Foster Grandparents) and Living at Home Services (including Adult Day Services, Meals on Wheels, Victory over Crime, etc.)

Legacy Circle- All Planned GiftsPeriodically, donors who are members of the Benefactors, Directors, Presidents and Visionary Circles will be listed in a Donor Report and/or come together as the FiftyForward Society.

Crown Affair The 23rd annual Crown Affair will be held on Thursday, April 19. During the event, Annette Eskind and Barbara and Herb Fritch will receive the Crowning Achievement Award in recognition of their long-standing commitment to FiftyForward and for their exemplary contributions to the Nashville community. Active FiftyForward board member Alexia Poe will be the recipient of this year’s Shining Star Award that recognizes an exceptional young leader whose service reflects a desire to give back to the community and enhance the lives of those in need. Alexia serves as director of communications for Governor Bill Haslam. Planning the elegant evening are Crown Affair co-chairs Mary and Ed Carter. A financial consultant for more than thirty years and vice president at Stephen’s, Inc., Ed is a long time volunteer with FiftyForward; he formerly served as president and is currently treasurer of the FiftyForward Endowment Board. Mary is known for her business, Milk and Cookies; she is also a food stylist and writer. Ed and

son Martin are faithful volunteers in the organization’s Meals on Wheels program. In addition to the magical floral and table designs by the talented John Starbuck, Crown Affair guests will be amazed by the variety of selections in the silent auction, such as fantastic art, jewelry, trips and events, plus an extensive collection of wines. Restaurant gift certificates also will be available. Some unexpected items will round out the bidding options. This is a “Don’t Miss” event so watch for your invitation and reply promptly because this year, as usual, we expect the Crown Affair to be a sell out!

Jana’s Valentine-New FiftyForward Society

Being a caregiver for a loved one comes with just about every emotion imaginable. On one hand, it may feel like a great gift to help someone you love and who has helped you. The FiftyForward Care Team is a perfect solution to assist you in balancing the desire and need to provide care with your time and other commitments. Our goal is to provide you with peace of mind while helping you to access services. Without professional guidance, decisions and choices can be overwhelming.
