NAPS (North American Pathway Services) is an organization that trains students to be successful in the post secondary academic world in Canada.
Through our partnerships with various colleges and universities, students can choose to take the college/university pathway. NAPS will assist you to get all necessary skills to enter college or university through our academic pathway programs. The program modules put emphasis on students’ ability to perform in all aspects of the English language at a level that ensures high performance in their studies at the college/university level. After completion of the academic pathway program, the NAPS administration department acts as a liaison between the student and the partner college/university and assists the student with the application process.
Many students come to Canada in order to learn English and also to continue their studies in the post-secondary academic world. Through NAPS’ College/University Academic Pathway Program, students are able to first improve the foundation of their language skills before being trained in the skills they will need to continue on to post –secondary education.
NAPS works in partnership with Study English in Canada (SEC).Study English in Canada Inc. has been an established ESL school since 2002 and is a member in good standing with Languages Canada. With campuses in Toronto and Vancouver, SEC is dedicated to providing students with the highest standard of education in order to prepare them for further academic success. SEC provides students with a strong Academic Program in order to prepare them for life in the academic world.
• Programs Offered at SEC:SEC takes into account the fact that students have different wants and needs when it comes to the focus of their studies. Because of this, we offer students various pathways to fit their needs. The first is the ESL pathway. This pathway gives students the basic foundation of the English language. From there, students can progress to more advanced programs. The second pathway is the Business Pathway. This is designed for students who want to gain experience in the field of business and the focus is on practical experiences and language and expressions that students will encounter. The third is the EAP pathway for those students who wish to further their education at the college or university level in Canada. Students also have the option to take exam preparation courses such as TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge FCE and CAE.
The EAP Program provides a strong emphasis on the students’ ability to per-form in all aspects of the English language (reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar) at a level that ensures high performance in a university and/or college. The EAP curriculum is designed to cover the needs of the students and thus includes reading and listening activities related to college/university lectures. The students are also instructed in how to research and write formal essays and how to improve their pronunciation, vocabulary and confidence in speaking through such forms as debates, seminars and presentations.Students are monitored on a weekly basis through their homework assignments and presentations. In order to successfully complete the EAP program, students must score between 70-80 band on the CAEL test for college and 80-90 band for university entrance.

The College Pathway is designed to first make sure that the student has a strong enough language foundation before moving on to college preparation programs. Depending on their level, the student may study ESL at our partner school Study English in Canada. Upon completion of SEC’s level 7 in the general English program, the student will continue in their journey by entering SEC’s English for Academic Preparation Program. This 12 week program provides students with the tools that they will need to be successful in a college setting. When a student successfully completes the EAP program at SEC, they will have fulfilled the language requirements for our partner schools.
