Welcome to the PATH Program at SF State! Your hard work has paid off and you are close to finishing your degree in Child and Adolescent Development! As you move towards your goal of a BA, you might have many questions. At PATH, we strive to ease your transition to your final years at State by providing both academic and personalized support. SF State is home to many great programs that like PATH, are here to help you. Use this guide to learn about some of the programs and resources available on and off campus. Academic ResourcesTake advantage of these academic resources throughout the school year Campus Academic Resource Program (CARP) CARP is a free student tutorial and academic support program. They offer tutoring in topics such as math, science, business, writing, academic skills and more. On top of their tutoring services, CARP also has ongoing workshops throughout the academic school year in several areas. Office: HSS 344/HSS 346 Phone: 415.405.0971 Web: www.sfsu.edu/~carp1 Learning Assistance Center (LAC) LAC offers tutoring for reading, writing, math, and science. They offer many different kinds of tutoring including same-day, weekly, and small group tutoring Office: HSS 348 Phone: 415.338.1993 Web: www.sfsu.edu/~lac English Tutoring Center (ETC) ETC provides academic support to undergraduate students enrolled in English composition, reading, and English as a Second Language (ESL). Health ServicesStaying healthy is a requirement for success. Luckily, our campus has many health services available to you. Student Health Services (SHS) SHS provides accessible and cost-effective quality medical care for all registered SFSU students. At the health center they provide basic care, laboratory and x-ray procedures, women’s services, Immunizations, pharmacy, nutrition services, preventive medicine, psychiatric care, HIV testing, and much more. Specialty services are also available at additional cost. Financial Aid Office The Financial Aid Office handles everything from grants, scholarships, work-study awards, and loans. Their book loan service allows students to borrow up to two textbooks for the upcoming semesters as long as you keep them in good shape. Through a partnership with them, all of Metro students get priority on borrowing books; make sure to mention you are part of our program. Child Development Teacher PermitYou will need to have a current CA Child Development Permit if you would like to work in an ECE classroom or setting. To get your permit, you will need to contact the San Francisco Early Childhood Professional Development Project at CCSF (PDP). PDP supports individuals in the permit process with advice and application processing assistance. PDP advisors will help determine what level of permit you qualify for and explain the permit process in more detail. In order to access PDP services, you MUST first make an appointment to meet with a counselor. Please refer to PDP’s website or call for more information. Gator Jobs: Gator Jobs is a campus wide job listing database. The Child and Adolescent Development Department posts all job opportunities on this site. You can search through many different early childhood education jobs available in the city.
