SKID TYRES are normal road tyres coated with a patented special

low-friction contact surface for skid control training and vehicle testing.

The vehicle is stable at speeds up to 30km/h but at speeds above the

tyre breaks traction.

Fitting SKID TYRES to the front axle allows understeer training and on

the same car the wheels can then be rotated for oversteer training.

SKID TYRES allow users the portability of conducting skid control

training in any sealed area (runway, dragstrip, closed road or carpark),

without the need for purpose built skid pans, addition of water additives

(oil/detergent) or bulky and expensive skid frames.

SKID TYRES are available to suit cars SUV, truck, bus and specialized

army equipment.

Durability depends on how customer is forcing tyres : ABS on or off,

drifting, wheel spin, how much braking, how much sliding etc.

Estimated lifetime for driving schools is 3000 - 5000 km.

FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR CAN

BE USED TO TEACH OVERSTEER

NO NOISE, LOW SPEED,

NO AGGRESSIVE DRIVING

SIMULATES IDENTICALLY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS

LIKE SNOW AND BLACK ICE

The friction coefficient between the

SKID TYRE and a dry asphalt

driving surface is approximately 0.35

(the same as snow)

On lightly wet asphalt the friction

co-efficient is approximately 0.1

(slippery like ice)

On the very wet asphalt the friction

co-efficient is approximately 0 .0

(aquaplaning)

The friction coefficient between high friction rubber and the

asphalt-coated surface is approximately 0.8-1

dry asphalt = snow

(fric. coff. = 0.35)

wet asphalt = ice

(fric. coff. = 0.15)

very wet asphalt = aquaplaning

(fric. coff. = 0)

LEARN TO DRIVE DRIVING SCHOOLS

• Learner Driving schools can create a new training module using Skid Tyres.

• Since learn to drive schools have there own vehicles and have the added safety of

dual controls they have a distinct advantage over advanced post-licence driving

schools that often do not have training vehicles.

• A learn to drive school could purchase 2 Skid Tyres and have them mounted to

another set of wheels to suit one of their training cars.

• They could locate and setup an arrangement to hire a carpark (only require 40 metres

x 40 metres). Then they could run a 1 – 2 hour skid awareness driving lesson for

several students at a time.

• Remember skid tyres create no noise and speeds are very low (30 - 40 km/h)

ADVANCED DRIVING SCHOOLS

• Advanced Driving schools can create a unique point of difference using Skid Tyres

• Skid tyres allow skid pan training to be conducted at carparks, dragstrips, burnout pads,

airport taxiways meaning new cities or towns can be offered advanced driver training

• Advanced Driving schools can attract repeat clients to return to experience Skid Tyres

• Skid Tyres can be used for winter driver training and awareness programs

• Skid Tyres are the perfect tool to use to show fleet clients how ESP works (remember

the misinformation about ABS and how to use it)

Accurate simulation of skidding (aquaplaning/snow/ice conditions)

Portable (easy to use) and simple to install Enables training to be run in new locations and in smaller areas Product buyers can develop their own training programs Does not require aggressive driving or high speeds Very low noise emissions (unlike tyre squeal from skid pans) Does not require a car “slaved” to the machine (like skid frames)

• ROAD SAFETY DEMONSTRATIONS

• CORPORATE DAYS/FUN DRIVING

• EMERCENCY VEHICLE TRAINING

• BODYGUARD/CHAUFFEUR TRAINING

PASSENGER CAR:

13” 175/70 tyre

14” 185/65 tyre

15” 195/65 tyre

16” 205/55 tyre

17” 225/45 tyre

17” 225/55 tyre

BUS AND TRUCK:

22.5” 315/70 tyre (truck)

22.5” 385/65 tyre (trailer)

19.5” 265/70 tyre (dolly) As tyres are only used in low speed training, the correct rolling

diameter is not necessary so long as tyre does not foul on inner guard

or suspension. New sizes will be added based on demand

SUV/4WD:

16” 245/70 tyre (110 load index)

“Skid tyre is an excellent new product suitable for multi-level driving training.

The tyre is slippery but doesn't overbalance even in full slide. The driver is able

to control the car's manoeuvres. If the driver fails in controlling the car it reacts

authentically. Also the ESC system's functionality and utilization is

emphasized.” Sergeant Veli-Matti Reinilä

“Skid Tyre creates the best possible simulation for slippery road conditions. It’s

friction coefficient allows for an ideal realistic feeling for the treacherous grip

level most often felt on typical winter roads.” Alec Arho Havrén MIM / MBA
