 Act I.

EXT. Frankie’s House

The house is of a grand, Gothic construction, curiously

wedged between a pair of typical Victorian terraced

houses.

ESTABLISHING SHOT of Frankie’s house, a delivery van is

seen pulling into shot.

CUT TO Front Door.

In keeping with the aesthetic of the house, the door is a

hulking mass of twisted iron and wood.

The door is seen from the perspective of the delivery

man, he can be seen holding a box. The holes in the box

indicate it is used for transporting animals.

A pearlescent button is set within an ornate iron base.

Assuming it to be the doorbell, the delivery man presses

it. A deep, heavy tone rings out, followed shortly by the

sound of footsteps, growing louder as they shifted closer

and closer to the door.

The door rattles as locks are opened and the door emits a

piercing creak, as it slowly swings open.

HOLD SHOT, showing the distant corridor.

PAN DOWNWARDS to reveal a small child looking up at the

delivery man. He is clothed in an oversized lab coat and

safety goggles resting upon his head. A badge fastened to

the lab coat shows the child’s name to be Frankie,

scrawled above the scribbled out name of the previous

owner.

(Name could also be discovered through a CLOSE UP shot of

Frankie signing his name on the delivery man’s

clipboard.)

CUT TO a sideways shot of Frankie and the delivery man’s

legs. The delivery man passes the box to Frankie. His

legs buckle under the weight, and the box falls to the

floor, leading Frankie to push the box through the front

door.

INT. Frankie’s House, Hallway

Short, DOLLY SHOT, following Frankie using all of his

weight to force the box down the hallway, his oversized

lab coat trailing behind him.

INT. Frankie’s Laboratory

MID SHOT of Frankie opening the box on his workbench. His

eager expression soon shifts to one of disappointment.

CLOSE UP SHOT of the opened box reveals the source of his

disappointment. The box contains what remains of a small

cat that appears to have died during transit.

Shaken but not disheartened, Frankie takes it upon

himself to resurrect his furry companion.

CUT TO MONTAGE of Frankie connecting his feline friend to

his experimental God device.

MONTAGE ends with a CLOSE UP SHOT of Frankie throwing a

rust ridden switch. Lights flicker and the sound of

pulsating electricity bounds around the laboratory.

As the process begins take speed, the cat begins to throb

and swell. The electricity passing through the animal is

simply too intense. The skin of the animal shreds at thepoints where the limbs join and the pressure produced by

boiling blood forces the limbs to violently break away.

(The idea is that the cat simply ‘overloaded’, much like

when you blow a fuse or capacitor in a circuit by using

the wrong mains adapter with an electrical appliance.

Imagine putting a ‘Stretch Armstrong’ in a microwave.

That’s the idea.)

MID SHOT of Frankie standing across from the device, as a

mechanical whirring sound slows to a halt. A paw lands athis feet as Frankie raises his goggles.

Frankie tidies up what is left of the cat, arranging it

loosely into its previous form. He’s left with about a

third of a cat, causing Frankie to acquire the missing

parts.

 Act II.

INT. Pet Shop

The distinctive bell rings as Frankie enters the shop.

PAN UP and OVER Frankie’s head, revealing shelves

littered with various animals.

Quick, CLOSE UP MONTAGE of Frankie’s hands picking up

various cats from cages.

CUT TO DOLLY SHOT of Frankie pushing a wheelbarrow,

covered in a tarpaulin, through the shop and out through

the door. Signs of struggle can be seen and heard coming

from beneath the tarpaulin. The door closes, the bell

rings once more and the shot fades to black.

INT. Frankie’s Laboratory

SHOT FADES IN, ABOVE SHOT, PUSH IN

Frankie is seen leaning over his workbench. The camera

positioned behind him and gradually moves inwards towards

him. Noises from power tools etc. are heard, as thunder

rattles the room. Flashes of lightning light the room.

REPEATED CUTS between Frankie at workbench and his hand

casting severed limbs into a container. The camera pushes

closer towards Frankie with each cut.

Sequence ends with a CLOSE UP of the head and the neck

being sutured together. The camera pulls in closer,

turning as it does, as the neck and head are drawn

together, closing off the scene and eventually cutting to

black.

 Act III.

INT. Frankie’s Laboratory

The camera quickly PULLS BACK, revealing the cadaver (or

in this case, cat-aver) lying on the slab, connected once

 more to the device.

Frankie throws the switch once more, the process closely

resembling the previous effort. Whilst the device is

operating, it needs something more…

Rain continues to pound the house, so much so that it

begins to penetrate the building. Rattling wind forces

the windows in the laboratory to open, scattering

raindrops across the equipment.

In a frantic rush to prevent any damage to his work,

Frankie assembles an elaborate assortment of umbrellas

around his workshop, failing to acknowledge the danger of

using an umbrella in a thunderstorm.

A bolt of lightning strikes the umbrella placed by the

window, linking from one umbrella to the next. The arc of

electricity eventually leads to a transformer, linked

directly to the device.

The jolt of electricity is exactly what the device

required in order for it to operate successfully.

CAMERA PULLS BACK RAPIDLY, as the patchwork cat bursts to

life.

FADE OUT

INT. Frankie’s Laboratory

MID SHOT of the cat in it’s new basket under the stairs

of the laboratory.

Frankie’s legs can be seen descending the stairs.

CUT TO TWO SHOT of Frankie and the cat. Frankie is seen

to have a new collar for the cat. CLOSE UP SHOT of

Frankie fastening the collar, the camera PANS IN towards

the name tag, revealing the cat’s new name to be

‘Fran-cat-stein’.
