Pat Choffrut My journey in Painting. I have been painting for about 15 years. I discovered that I loved paint- ing when I signed up for a summer watercolor class for fun—and have not stopped since. Over the years, I have also worked hard at drawing. I have taken college courses and workshops in both drawing and paint- ing as well as continuing classes. I think that good drawing and careful preparation are important, but letting go and trusting my feeling is the real key for success, when I can do it. My work has included a variety of subjects, my favorites being the hu- man form, boats and water, florals, and scenes in European towns and villages. I do a lot of commissions. I belong to 4 painting societies and am a Signature Member of the Northstar Watercolor Society. My paintings have been exhibited at local and national shows. I have won prizes for my watercolors and sell my work both online and from my studio in White Bear Lake. Feel free to stop and talk; I have all the time in the world to hear about art. I will be painting a portrait, a closeup of a face, from a drawing I have prepared. I love interpreting the human face and figure. The portrait will be done in several steps: first, laying in flesh tones and sugges- tions of hair and background, then going back in to add some shadow and clarity to the various parts, finally pulling everything together with more definition and putting down the darks. Surprises abound, be- cause it’s watercolor! Patricia Choffrut www.etsy.com/shop/patchoffrut 612-889-6342 Watercolor Portrait
