Transcript of Pat Ayres Declares As Candidate For Ramsey South
Press Release Tuesday 7 February 2012
Liberal Vannin announce First Candidate To
Declare in forthcoming Local Elections
The Liberal Vannin Party takes pleasure in announcing that Pat Ayres will be standing in Ramsey South
at the forthcoming Local Elections in April.
Pat, a local taxi owner/operator, has a wealth of experience in the business and political scene both here
in the Isle of Man and UK. His past successes in the UK have been as a serving councillor on Ashfield
District Council and Chair of the planning committee there, responsible for a budget of 6 million pounds
and a member of the ruling group on Nottinghamshire County Council. In the Isle of Man he is the
Northern Branch Acting Chair of the party and Deputy Chair nationally. In the 2011 National Elections
he stood as the candidate for Ayre.
Pat says that for many years he has demonstrated a strong personal interest in both national and local
politics and feels that his experience will be of value to Ramsey Commissioners and the electorate of
Ramsey South. Ramsey town is still the poor neighbour of Douglas and needs strong commissioner
determination to get government to look at transferring office locations to the town whose residents
daily commute to Douglas. Other important issues are regeneration of Parliament Street, Getting some
commitment to renovation of the pier and developing the Albert Road school site to the benefit of the
people of the town.
