PastorgramThank you for your response to The Generosity Factor: Living From the Heart of accepting the challenge to increase your level of giving. For some of you stepping up to the tithe will be a major victory; for others, the increase beyond the tithe allows us to grow in our generosity. It all begins this first Sunday in May. Always place yourself in the pathway of God’s blessings.
There is an important team upcoming in July. Our Church Council will be recommending we form a study team to examine aspects of a VPK program. This is a voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program. This study team would bring back a report/recommendation to us. A number of our parents with young children have inquired about it so we feel the time is right to explore this ministry opportunity.
Pray for our England Mission Team. They are leaving this month to minister to the children of some of our International Mission Board team members as I lead the adults in a time of Bible Study and spiritual retreat. Pray for them to be renewed, refreshed, and revived in this work for the Lord.
In Christ,
Bro Benny
EQUIP KIDS FOR MAKING CHOICES
Decisions, decisions. Teenagers face lots of choices, ranging from what to wear to which career to pursue. Every day, young people also deal with social and moral decisions that can impact their faith and their future.
Making the right choices can mean the difference between life and death, so it’s important to help kids connect their choices to real-world consequences. Showing off in a car may impress friends, for example, but it can also put lives at risk. The developmental challenge is that the part of the brain that processes cause and effect isn’t fully developed in teenagers. Although kids sometimes have to learn things the hard way, we still need to show them grace and compas-sion, as well as loving support and guidance.
Parents may not be able to make decisions for teenagers, but we can equip them with the right tools so they can make wise choices of their own. The solid foundation for decision-making is God’s Word. Jesus urges his followers to spend time in prayer and to “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
Making good decisions can be hard, and the pressure can leave kids stressed out. But God offers an alternative: peace. He wants to give us extraordinary peace in the midst of making easy or hard decisions. All we need to do is seek him and his wisdom.
PONDER THIS
•How do you approach tough decisions? What role does your faith play?
•If you could go back in time and make different choices, what would some of them be, and why?
•What are the most important decision-making lessons you’d like your teenagers to know?
BIBLE FOCUSTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Parker’s PenApril was awesome! Three words that help sum up the month are MAPS, MONEY, and MARRIAGE. Our FAITH teams continue to canvas our community with prayer and God’s love. Our map is getting more yellow as we have contacted 536 homes! Some people are astounded that we care enough to come ask them how we can personally pray for them. Others have been at a loss what to say because no one has ever asked them that before. Some have closed the door, but we know that God can still use that visit to cause them to turn their thoughts toward Him. We also began the month with another Dover Rod Run & Pinewood Derby. The weather, food & music were great. We had more Pinewood racecars than ever before. Over and over, we are asked, “Why do you do this for free?” We do it because we care for the people in our community. Hopefully, every visit, prayer, burger, and kind word will draw them closer to the love of Jesus!
Congratulations to the 27 families who graduated from our first session of Financial Peace University. Let’s hear it for the Bellott, Blanton, Brewer, Briggs, Brown, Caffey, Carbaugh, Cook, Crosby, Derenthal, English, Harrell (2), Hilton, Jenkins, Keiser, Moyer (2), Parker, Pate, Phillips, Ray, Schofield, Smith, Traylor, Webb, and Wendt families!!! They have learned how to handle money God’s way, from teaching their
children to dumping dept to saving for the future. We covered insurance, investments, and mortgages. Some couples cut up their credit cards. A class
“Elijah Rock,” our children’s choir musical, tells the story of courage and strength that we all need to hear during these difficult times. God called Elijah to tell King Ahab, Queen Jezebel, and the Israelites of his day, to turn from the worship of Baal, a false god, to the One and Only True Lord God.
Elijah knew God would destroy them if they did not turn away from their sin. But, the people would not listen and Elijah went into hiding as a long drought came upon the land.
When the day came for Elijah to again face Ahab and Jezebel, he offered a challenge between himself and the prophets of Baal. Each would build an altar, but not light the fire—that would be left to the most powerful god.
Baal’s prophets prayed, but failed. After pouring water over his altar, Elijah prayed to Almighty God. Fire ignited and consumed everything. The faith Elijah showed in God and his courage to stand for Him is a great story that kids and adults need to hear today.
And...you will love the songs. THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN!
Our combined children’s choirs will be presenting this fantastic musical on June 2 at 6:00 pm. You won’t want to miss “Elijah Rock!” Bro. Ken
