CLERK’S CORNER

Correspondence:

• Received a letter of approval of 2016 session minutes from Stated Clerk the Rev. Tricia Tedrow.

• Received a letter from General Presbyter, the Rev. Sallie Watson, notifying us of the retirement of Ruling Elder Lita Simpson, Director of

Youth and Young Adult Ministries for Mission Presbytery.

• Received a letter of appreciation from Gary Mathews, Director of Alumni and Church Relations at Austin Presbyterian Seminary for our

quarterly gift.

• Received a letter of appreciation from the Rev. Dick Powell, President of Mo Ranch, for our quarterly gift.

• Received a letter of resignation from Deacon JoAnn Jones from the Diaconate for health reasons.

• Received a letter of inquiry from member Eunice McCoy regarding the feasibility of placing a “Little Free Library” on FPC Property by

members of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority---referred to the Property Committee .

Baptisms: Emerson (Emmy) McCrae, daughter of Jimmy and Analaura McCrae and granddaughter of Hilary Mosty was baptized during the 11:00

am worship service on Sunday, July 09, 2017, with the Rev. Elaine Dreeben officiating.

New Members:

• Dan and Sue Schulse, Carl and Doris Schulse, and Carolyn Jones joined by Reaffirmation of Faith on July 02, 2017.

• Walt and MG Koenig joined by Reaffirmation of Faith on August 06, 2017.

• Tom and Sharon Richardson joined by Transfer of Letter from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX, on August 13, 2017.

Deaths:

• Robert (Bob) Locke died on June 25, 2017, and services were held on July 10, 2017, in Schreiner Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Rob Lohmeyer

presiding.

• James (Jim) Winmill died on July 24, 2017. Services are to be held in Nova Scotia.

• Bertha Priour died on July 27, 2017, and services were held in the FPC sanctuary on August 04, 2017, with the Rev. Dr. Rob Lohmeyer and the

Rev. Elaine Dreeben officiating.

• Betty Foster died on August 12, 2017, and services were held in Schreiner Chapel on September 02, 2017, with the Rev. Mark Brown, Chaplain

at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, presiding.

• Marla Kutzer died on August 25, 2017, and services were held on August 29, 2017, in the FPC sanctuary with the Rev. Dr. Rob Lohmeyer and

the Rev. Elaine Dreeben presiding.

Wedding: Jack DuRocher and Sam Zimmerli were married in the FPC Sanctuary on July 16, 2017, with the Rev. Dr. Rob Lohmeyer and the

Rev. Elaine Dreeben presiding.

Communion: Communion was served at both worship services July 02 and August 06, 2017. In-home communion was served during the months

of July and August to: Paul Adams, Danna Sebesta, Betty Weichert, Rose Burton, Shirlie Harris, Marge Leisering, Evelyn and Jim Winmill,

Glynda Prinz, Ed Cook, Fane Downs, Betty Foster, Myrth Stephens, Jean Sanford, Howard Pippin, Bob Millard, and Betty Pelton.

Financial Report: Reviewed the financial statements for June and July, 2017. Giving continues to be good with pledged gifts up by 10%

compared to this time last year.

Personnel Committee: The search for a new Music Director is continuing.

Property Committee: Outside doors are to be painted and glass installed soon; 1/3 of roofs have been repaired, awaiting check from insurance

company to continue the work; new landscaper has been hired, anticipate a savings of $4800-5500 annually; Nancy Wallace and Kathleen

Boyce are now overseeing the Neal Courtyard Garden and will be working with the new landscaper.

Elaine Dreeben: Reminded session of the Stewardship Dinner on Sept. 5, where they will receive their pledge cards for 2018.

Rob Lohmeyer: Reviewed the work of the session at the Aug. 26 retreat and reminded everyone of the process whereby input from the

congregation will be received; Session will meet on Sat., Sept. 23 with the Rev. Al Krumenacher, Austin Presbyterian Seminary, to discern and

write the goals in the areas of congregational care, mission, spiritual formation, and worship for FPC-Kerrville in the next 5 to 10 years.

The following items were acted upon and/or approved:

• Approved the transfer of Mike and Bonnie Elliott to the Inactive Roll. They have moved from Kerrville.

• Approved the request of the Deacons to recruit and train the following individuals to assist with extended communion: Jim Curliss, Pam

Jucknies, Janice Zitelman, Jean Sniffen, Bernard Syfan and Analaura McCrae.

• Approved the following for Adult Sunday School for the Fall quarter: Jim Burton, Walter Curry, Al Gibson, and Bob Shipman. Approved the

following for the 2017-18 school year: Eunice McCoy and Hilary Mosty (Pre-K and Kinder), Amy and Matt Priour (1st-3rd grades), Mike

Busby, Rita Odom, and Jacob Naron (4th-5th grades).

• Approved with regret the resignation of Deacon JoAnn Jones, class of 2017.

• Elected Ruling Elders Jeff Cunningham, Bev Kapelle, Nancy Mallory, Tim Rye, and Bob Shipman as commissioners to the Oct. 27-28, 2017
