The St. Timothy Catholic School Council (CSC) strives to fulfill its obligation to "promote the vision, values, sacramental life and Catholic practices of the school and Board." The Catholic School Council serves as an advisory committee to the school principal on a number of items, including goals and procedures for supporting the best interest of the school community. Our Parish Representative, Laura Monegro, serves as a communication link between St. Catherine of Siena Parish and the St. Timothy CSC members and community. She shares parish information and provides guidance and support on initiatives, faith formation, and sacramental life in the school community. Funds raised by the CSC also support the sacramental preparation and faith life of our students.

Recognizing Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations:

Framed by the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations (OCSGE), our graduates will be effective communicators, reflective thinkers, lifelong learners, collaborative contributors, caring

family members, responsible citizens and discerning believers formed in the Catholic faith community.

As developed by the Institute of Catholic Education (ICE), the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations (OCSGE) are used as a framework for designing Ontario Catholic curriculum. At St. Timothy School, the OCSGE’s are integrated in the teaching and learning in all of our classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 8, as Catholic education views human life as an integration of body, mind, and spirit. Our instructional practices reflect the knowledge, skills and mindsets embodied in these expectations, and recognize the importance of the development of the whole child in terms of values, attitudes and actions.

Celebrating Virtues:

A virtue is a habit or established capacity to perform good actions according to a moral standard. When we practice these virtues, we strengthen them and thereby make the presence of God more and more visible in the world around us.

A Catholic faith community is rooted in a set of common beliefs about God’s will for all people. The month-at-a-time format provides the whole school with a common language to move and celebrate through the school year. This program provides vocabulary and milestones for a continuous school-wide conversation and culture about how we can creatively maintain a safe, caring school community that reflects the values and teachings of Jesus Christ. Classroom liturgies and celebrations that highlight each month’s virtue allow opportunities for students to experience “What does the Virtue of _____________ mean?”

Announcements and daily prayers highlight the Virtue and remind students what each virtue looks like, feels like, and sounds like in the classroom and in the school yard. Scripture stories related to the virtues are integrated into the Religion curriculum.

Visible Signs of our Faith:

Through symbol and service, we are instruments of God’s love whose work within our communities stands as a witness to our faith.

Signs of our faith are visible as soon as one enters the front doors of the school and are visible throughout the school hallways and classrooms. The altar and the large display cases in the school’s front foyer reflect the liturgical seasons of the Church year and the virtue banners are reminders in

the hallways. Each classroom has a sacred space and a cross, as the classroom prayer tables are an interactive focal point with the colour of the tablecloth and the symbols on the table changing to align with the liturgical colours, seasons and virtues. A portrait of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, a large statue of our patron saint, St. Timothy, and our school prayer are permanently displayed in the front hallway.

Our front foyer also has a TV display which highlights photos of students, staff and our community demonstrating faith and learning in action.
