Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature – Mk 16:15 Jesus says, “Come to me” in order that he may say, “Go ye therefore”.

We cannot go unless we come to Jesus and put ourselves under his yoke of humanity’s sin and woe. Nor can we come to Jesus unless we also go.

CALL TO WORSHIP

HYMN OF PRAISE - Timeless love! We sing the story

1. Timeless love! We sing the story, 2. By his faithfulness surrounded praise his wonders, tell his worth; north and south his hand proclaim love more fair than heaven's glory, earth and heaven formed and founded love more firm than ancient earth! skies and seas declare his Name Tell his faithfulness abroad: Wind and storm obey his word who is like him? Praise the Lord! who is like him? Praise the Lord! 3.Truth and righteousness enthrone him, just and equal are his ways; more than happy, those who own him, more than joy, their songs of praise! Sun and shield and great reward: who is like him? Praise the Lord!

[Timothy Dudley-Smith (1926-)- Tune: Regent Square]

PRAYER OF ADORATION & THANKSGIVING

RESPONSIVE READING Ps. 37: 5 – 12 [NIV] Leader: Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: People: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Leader: Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. People: Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. Leader: For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. People: A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. Leader: But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. ALL: The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them.

HYMN OF MEDITATION – No. 2 - Let truth and mercy find here

1. Let truth and mercy find here a joyful meeting place,

And here let peace and justice be joined in warm embrace.

And in this congregation let strangers now be friends,

to do the gospel’s bidding ‘til wars on earth shall end.

2. Let truth’s bright flame be blazing in all the darkest hours,

confronting schemes of darkness, exposing evil powers.

Let mercy’s gentle manner, so willing to forgive,

fill warring hearts with longing ‘til in truth’s light we live.

3. So now let peace and justice be never far apart,

but flowing like a river for every thirsty heart.

These two shall be united, a mighty moving stream,

upon whose banks we gather to work and pray and dream.

A MESSAGE FROM THE MISSION DIRECTOR – JBUMA

The theme of Mission Month 2016 is, “Living the Sacrificial Life: Witnessing Fervently.” Over the years, the emphasis on mission during September has helped us as a constituency to renew our commitment to God’s Mission in the world. This year’s theme is in keeping with the denomination’s bi-annual theme: “Being God’s People in God’s World: Living the Sacrificial Life”. Let me urge all of us to give our full participation in all the planned activities of the Mission Agency; these include: Bible Study Series (under the theme, “Witnessing Fervently”) in local churches; JBUMA D.V.D Presentation; Christ for Today programme and the various Church Growth Mission 2020 Meetings and Baptisms Island wide. As we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, the Agency’s prayer is that Christians will be encouraged and challenged as we experience a sense of being commissioned anew. The JBUMA expresses thanks to all those who worked and continue to labour to make sure the activities planned are implemented. We express thanks to the Rev. Gary Johnson for preparing the Bible Study Outline for Mission Month and the Evangelism and Discipleship Committee for implementing the staging of Church Growth Regional Meetings.
