I think this is a really fun one, a bit like a cross between an anemone and a sunflower. The 'petals' are achieved by making clusters of Double-Treble Crochets together (or Treble Crochet, if you're working with US terms). Don't be afraid of these if you've never tried them - I've included pictures of every step. They're a bit fiddly at first but the effect is so lovely, they're definitely worth having a go at.

Now that I've gotten over my little colour crisis and finalised the colour scheme for the "Crochet meetsPatchwork" blanket, it's time to reveal the next granny square pattern! I think this is a really fun one, abit like a cross between an anemone and a sunflower.

The 'petals' are achieved by making clusters of Double-Treble Crochets together (or Treble Crochet, ifyou're working with US terms). Don't be afraid of these if you've never tried them - I've includedpictures of every step. They're a bit fiddly at first but the effect is so lovely, they're definitely worthhaving a go at.

Note that I've started new rounds with a stitch called a Standing Treble Crochet (Standing DoubleCrochet) where applicable. It removes the need for 3 starting chains, and so the beginning of eachround is less conspicuous. If you're not familiar with these techniques, have a look at theseexcellent tutorials on Moogly:

Standing treble/double crochet

If you're not comfortable with these techniques, however, there is of course nothing wrong withsticking to the usual chain starts.

Block your finished square by laying it out on a foam block or mat, spraying with water until soaked, and pinning it into shape. Leave it to dry completely (away from direct sunlight).
