PASSION PLAY 2015 KICK-OFF Our kick-off Choir rehearsal for our 2015 Passion Play will be
Wednesday, September 24, at 7:15 PM. Our goal is to have 80 singers commit to be a part of this special music ministry opportunity. The
choir is open to high school age and up. The dates for the Passion Play are Friday-Sunday, March 20-22. Please, please prayerfully consider this. As far as I know, we are the only church in the upstate who will
present this type of music ministry worship experience this coming spring. Let’s invite all choir prospects and former members to help, because we want to tell the greatest story ever to the best of our
abilities. Thanks for your great help, and please be here on the 24th.
DEACON RECOMMENDATION The Deacons recommend that the church approve two part-time
ministry positions in the area of children (ages 3 – grade 5) and youth
(grades 6 – college). Lauren Beddingfield will assume the position of
Children’s Minister upon the filling of the Youth Position. Resumes will
be received immediately for anyone interested in the part-time Youth
Position.
The church will have a called business meeting at the end of the
morning worship service on Sunday, October 5th.
Congratulations to our new Corn Hole Champions for this year: Ray Conway and Randy Thompson

best we can be for the Glory of God!
NEWSLETTER INFORMATION UPDATE We will need information for the newsletter given to us two weeks prior to actual events. Let us know if you would prefer receiving your newsletter via e-mail rather than hard copies through the USPS. Future scheduled publication dates are as follows: October 15th November 19th December 17th
From Ken…
“The Year of the Children”… This week marks the kickoff of two ministries to children throughout the Walhalla area.
First is the “Good News Club” at Walhalla Elementary School. For the 9th year, a team of adults from CSBC will be leading in an after-school Bible teaching program with approximately 100 children. Many thanks to Rev. Don Bickers for taking on the role of Coordinator. Many more thanks to all the volunteers who are filling the positions to make this year a great year with the children!
Second is the “M*A*R*K Club” for Kids. This is a new effort to reach out into the community by partnering with the weeknight efforts that have been in place for a number of years and with our music program. “M*A*R*K*” which stands for “Music and Recreation for Kids”. Like a mini-VBS, children will rotate through a variety of classes (music, recreation, Bible, crafts and food) in a 90-minute evening every Sunday.
Good News Club began September 16th. M*A*R*K Club begins on Sunday, September 21. Be praying for the efforts to reach the children for Jesus Christ. Again, thanks to so many adults who have stepped up to say they wanted to be part of the effort.
Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find a recommendation from the Deacons to approve two part-time positions for the immediate future; one for children and one for youth.
Also, on Sunday night, September 21, I will begin a CrossWalk class for
adults not involved in M*A*R*K Club. The class is entitled “Unseen But
Certain”. It’s a six-week video based study taught by Daniel Akin, President
of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The six sessions will tell us
what the Bible says and why it matters about angels, Satan, demons, hell,
and heaven. I encourage you to participate and learn together.

THANK YOU NOTES Dear Church Family,
“The family of Joe Holden acknowledges with grateful appreciation your kind expression of
sympathy.” Thank you for the many acts of kindness during Dad’s sickness and death. Your thoughtfulness
of cards, visits, food and the donation to Hospice will always be remembered.
Sincerely,
Anita, Horace & Tanya
**************** Dear Church Family,
“During a time like this, we realize how much our friends and relatives really mean to us…..Your expression of sympathy will always be remembered.”
Thank you so much for the prayers, visits, cards and meal during Clyde’s illness and his death. In addition, thank you for the memorial gift given to the Food Bank in memory of Clyde. He would be so
pleased to know that hungry people are being fed. We are so blessed to be a part of our caring church
fellowship.
Love In Christ, Peggy McCall & Family

Dear College Street Baptist Church,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of the McCormick Correctional Institution Pastoral Care Service and myself for the donation of bulletin paper, a greatly needed resource.
Many don’t see the benefit this action pays to the Kingdom of God in furthering the day to day business
of the Chaplain’s office. It is always a blessing to see true men and women of God who don’t mind giving their time and resources to changing lives and saving souls. May Grace and Peace be with you in the
name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Once again, thank you for all you do. If you have any questions, please contact me at my office
number.

Greetings To All!
We at College Street Baptist Church are approaching a monumental milestone
that will change the future of our children and youth ministries! As you all know,
M.A.R.K Club starts this Sunday night at 5 p.m. Rooted, our youth ministry, will also
begin meeting at this time as well. We are also kicking off youth choir on this day at
4:30 p.m. I am so excited about this fall and all the ministry opportunities we have
beginning and restarting!
For the past three weeks, the youth have been meeting on Wednesday nights
in what we have called “River Groups”. Since we are called “Rooted,” the idea for the
name came to me from Jeremiah 17:7-8: “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit.” Just over the
course of these past three weeks, it has been encouraging to me to see these
groups literally grow and flourish. Last week, we had EIGHTEEN students
attending River Groups! The high school students are learning how to defend their
faith while the middle school students, separated by gender, are learning how to
study their Bible and apply principles in it to their lives.
As for our children’s ministry, we have maintained an average of 10-15
children each week for the past two weeks. This Sunday, to tie in with their “Armor
of God” series conclusion, they have prepared a song and memory verse that they
would like to share with their church congregation! I hope we will see you there!
They are all very excited to share what they have been learning!
I wanted to conclude by thanking all of you who have stepped up to help out
with both of these ministries! It is encouraging to the students and myself to know
that they are loved and supported by their church family. For our M*A*R*K* Club
volunteers, we have shirts for you to wear for our meetings whenever you would like.
We are asking for a $5 donation for each shirt. If you were not able to submit your
shirt size for this order, please let me know so that I can get you one as soon as
possible!
Because of Him,
