PASS AmeriCorps Response to COVID-19

▸ During the school year, PASS AmeriCorps Members provide mentoring and academic support to students st ruggling wi th grades, at tendance, and behavior.

▸ When the COVID-19 Pandemic began and all school dist ricts closed schools to protect the health of students and fami l ies, Governor Gavin Newsom called on all AmeriCorps programs and members to support local food banks, meal packaging, and meal dist ribut ion.

PASS AmeriCorps Response to COVID-19

▸ Since March 16, 2020, PASS AmeriCorps Members have assisted foodbanks and school dist ricts in packaging and dist ribut ing a total of 156,038 meals.

▸ We are also support ing school dist ricts to:▹ Assemble and dist ribute schoolwork packets▹ Assign chrome books to students▹ Call fami l ies to do wellness checks▹ Support teachers in vi rtual classrooms

▸ Looking forward, PASS AmeriCorps Members are collaborat ing wi th our partnering school si tes to create plans to cont inue to provide services through virtual academic support and enrichment activit ies.

PASS AmeriCorps Program DescriptionThe PASS (Promoting Achievement and Student Success) AmeriCorps program serves in 30 school sites in San Diego County, including campuses in San Diego, Oceanside, Vista, Escondido, and Valley Center. We support our partnering school sites in reaching their LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) goals, working to provide support, increase student motivation, improve achievement, and foster school connectedness, all while helping our students improve in grades, attendance, and behavior.PASS AmeriCorps serves students in grades 3 through 12. Each PASS AmeriCorps Service Member provides support for 30 students through individual and group mentoring, academic support, grades and attendance reviews, leadership development, guest speakers, service learning projects, parent outreach, and encouraging our students to become positive leaders in their schools and communities.
