Author’s Purpose The author’s purpose is the main reason for presenting a story or selection in a certain way. An author’s purpose does two things
Can be to inform to inform, explain, to entertain, or to persuade
Affects things in the story, such as the details, descriptions, story events, and dialogue
An author can have more than on purpose for writing.

Vocabulary
Inform – expository type of text that give information.
Explain – direction on how something works or how to do something.
Persuade – when you convince someone to believe in a certain way or about something.
Entertain – to make someone laugh or be amused.

Students should not wear uniforms to school. They should be able to wear whatever clothing they like. They should have the choice to be different. Some people have a favorite color that they enjoy to wear, and they should definitely be able to wear it if they choose to. Uniforms imprison self expression.
