About the Directory Dear Family: We are pleased that you and your family are part of, or interested in, the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP). One way we assist families in utilizing the program to its fullest potential is by helping you make informed decisions about schools. We have created the Participating Schools Directory to provide families with basic information on each participating private school. We urge you to start the school search process as early as possible. Some schools stop accepting new applications as early as December of the previous year. Please note that Serving Our Children can assist with application fees and with your private school application. As you begin your search for a school, it is our hope that the directory will help you find the right one for your student(s). To help you get started, the directory contains:
• Comprehensive school profiles on each participating school (Beginning on Page 14) • A step‐by‐step guide on how to apply to private schools (Pages 61 and 62) • General admission testing information (Pages 11 and 12) • Information on other financial resources (Pages 65 and 66)
Additionally, included in the directory are maps of OSP participating schools by zip code, schools listed by Ward, and a School Search worksheet to assist you in the school search process. The directory is a great starting point; however, it may not contain everything you need to know before applying to or choosing a school. We strongly encourage you to visit school websites, attend open houses and/or tours, and contact admissions staff to answer any additional questions you may have. You can also find a copy of this directory, along with more OSP program information, online at www.servingourchildrendc.org. SOC is also available to assist you with applying to a participating private school. If you would like help or guidance in
applying to a private school, you may:
Schedule a one-on-one appointment with our staff in our office or at a mutually convenient location in your neighborhood. We can bring pizza!
o Call 1-888-329-6884
Visit the Serving Our Children Office o 1615 L Street NW, Washington DC 20036
Please note: The details contained in the school profile pages are self‐reported by each school in the fall. Admissions details pertain to the upcoming 2019-20 school year. All other information, including tuition amounts, pertains to the current 2018-19 school year. Be sure to check with the schools directly for the most up‐to‐date information. Tuition information for the upcoming school year typically is available beginning in the spring. As always, if you have any questions, please email [email protected] or call the Program Team at 1.888.DC.YOUTH (1.888.329.6884). Office walk-in hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1pm to 4pm. Thank you. Sincerely,
Rachel Sotsky Executive Director, Serving Our Children

Important Notes:
The maximum scholarship amount offered by Serving Our Children is capped under federal law. Some schools
have tuitions and/or fees above the maximum scholarship amount Serving Our Children is permitted to
provide. However, many participating schools will offer supplemental support or assistance to OSP students.
The current Opportunity Scholarship Program cap is $8,857 for Kindergarten through Eighth grades and
$13,287 for Ninth through Twelfth grades. These amounts are subject to potential annual inflationary
adjustments.
For tuition, fees, and supplemental support, please inquire with each school for specific information related
to:
o Additional fees above tuition (example: books, uniforms, etc.)
o Tuition discounts for siblings or religious affiliation
o Availability of waivers for application or testing fees
o Availability of supplemental financial aid or payment plans for fees above the scholarship award
amount
o School Year 2019-20 tuition information (currently, only the School Year 2018-19 tuition
information is available. School Year 2019-20 amounts are typically released by schools
beginning in the Spring.)
School information is self-reported by the schools and is the most recent as of this publication date. Be sure to
check with each school directly for the most up-to-date information on school programs, admissions deadlines,

Application Fee/Entrance Exam Reimbursements
Serving Our Children will reimburse the cost of application fees for up to five (5) participating OSP schools and
the TADS Financial Aid Assessment application. In order to receive reimbursement, you will need to complete
a Request for Reimbursement of Application Costs form. Please be sure to retain copies of your receipts, as
you will need to provide them with your reimbursement form.
Serving Our Children will also reimburse the cost of entrance exam fees for students who are required to take
them to gain entrance into a participating OSP school. In order to receive reimbursement, you will need to
complete a Request for Reimbursement of Entrance Exam Costs form. Please be sure to retain copies of your
receipts, as you will need to provide them with your reimbursement form.
The following are the most common Entrance Exams for participating OSP schools and the TADS Program Information: High School Placement Test (HSPT) The high schools that are a part of the Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) require entering students to take the HSPT. Students already enrolled in a Catholic school within the ADW do not need to register for the exam as they will take it at their current 8th grade school. For those students not already attending a Catholic school within the ADW, they will need to register and pay for the exam. Grades required to take exam: 8th graders before entering high school Exam fee: please contact school for cost associated with testing
Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE): The ISEE is an admission test that has three levels: a lower level, middle level, and upper level. At all levels, the exam consists of three parts: (a) verbal and quantitative reasoning tests that measure a student's capability for learning, (b) reading comprehension and mathematics achievement tests that provide specific information about a student's strengths and weaknesses in those areas, and (c) an essay section.
Grades required to take exam: 1st-11th
Exam fee: $110 (large group testing); $190 (Prometric office testing)
Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS): The TADS Financial Aid Assessment serves dioceses, foundations and state tax-funded organizations with efficient, flexible, and easy to use financial aid and fund allocation tools. The programs typically allocate funds in one of two ways: Need Based (calculates the total student need with precise per-school detail. Each school is allocated its portion of the total fund based on its specific needs) or Ranking (determine how much aid they wish to award each student). Whether your fund uses a Need Based or Ranking format, the result is a defendable fund allocation tool, which is fair to both families and schools. It also meets donor requirements for fair use of financial aid.
Availability: Open; https://www.mytads.com/
TADS Application fee: $ Affordable pricing structure is based on varying school features. Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT):
The SSAT is a multiple-choice aptitude test for students in grades 5-11. The test consists of verbal, quantitative (math) and reading comprehension sections.
Grades required to take exam: 3rd-12th grade
Exam fee: $132
12
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC): The test identifies key cognitive strengths and weaknesses related to learning disabilities, executive function, attention disorders, intellectual disability, cognitive strengths/weaknesses, and giftedness.
Grades required to take exam: ages 6-16
Exam fee: $425
Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) The WPPSI-III is designed for children ages 2 years six months to 7 years 3 months and provides subtest and composite scores that represent verbal and performance cognitive ability.
Grades required to take exam: ages 2-7
Exam fee: $375
Please check directly with the participating OSP school(s) you are applying for to determine whether they
accept the TADS Financial Aid Assessment program and if an entrance exam is necessary, which exam is
appropriate to take.

Highlight from Mission Statement: Self-Discovery, Skills of mind, Generosity of heart. Field's mission statement is known well by every teacher and every student. Its three elements are, to us, inseparable. To achieve self-discovery, students need to develop the essential skills of critical thinking, writing, problem-solving, and discussion. Self-understanding without generosity of heart in the community is not truly meaningful. But, together, these elements are what The Field School considers the goals of a great education.

Think about what you’re looking for in a school o Location - Do you want a school near where you live or work? o Religion - Do you want a religious or non-religious school? o Activities - What types of services and activities (i.e. aftercare, sports) do you want?
Review the school’s website to see if the school offers what you are looking for
Contact the school for an application and schedule a time to visit o Attend open houses, tours, and shadow visits o Ask questions to get detailed information on the application process
Step 2: Mark Your Calendar for Important Dates (September) Be sure to create a calendar of deadlines for all of the schools you plan to apply to
o Application deadline - be sure that your application is submitted by this day; be mindful that some school’s priority deadlines are sooner than others!
o Shadow and Open House dates - These events allow you to visit the school’s campus and get a feel for the environment your child will be learning in. Try your best to attend!
o Financial Aid – some schools offer financial aid. If you are interested in applying, be sure to submit your information by or before the deadline.
Step 3: Complete Applications (October) Follow directions thoroughly
o Many schools have step-by-step directions to make the application process easier; ask schools if you have questions
Submit any additional documents (essays, transcripts, and teacher recommendations, etc.) o Letters of recommendation early (and from more than one person if required) o Transcript/grade copies from each school your student has attended
Other important points o Many schools require admissions tests; inquire what test is needed for the school o Identify yourself as an OSP family; schools may waive or defer application fees, and many schools offer
supplemental financial assistance; As an OSP family, you’re eligible to be reimbursed for up to five (5) application fees you pay out-of-pocket, as well as admissions test fees you pay by Serving Our Children. Please be sure to keep your receipts.
o Ask if financial aid is available Applying for financial aid does not lessen your chance of being accepted Financial aid applications are usually included with the admissions packet. If not, ask for financial
aid forms and deadline information Step 4: Essays and Interviews (Early November)
Present your student’s strengths
Have your student tell his/her unique story (for the student portion of the application, if required)
Share the fact that your student is applying to or participating in the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program Step 5: Submitting Applications (Late November-Early December)
Proofread your applications and attach all requested information before submitting. Remember to submit application before on by the deadline.
After submitting, follow up with the school to make sure your application is complete
While waiting for a decision, check in with the school from time-to-time to see if there is anything else they may need
Admissions decision o Accepted students:
Schedule another visit if your child is accepted to more than one school Ask about your financial aid award
Decide whether your student will be attending. If yes, give the school a signed School Placement Form.
