i'm transfering at semester I missed one while not feeling well--I had mono, and slept almost constantly

They were a waste of time. I didn't feel like they helped me at all in my college transition.

too busy

I didn't get much out of the program and my ARC was very unpersonable.

I missed a couple, but it was not due to anything concerning the program or my arch.

Originally there was a mixup with my scheduling and after a while with how well I was doing I didn't feel it necessary to go. However, it was helpful to go on the registration session.

forgetting

I attended to almost all of them but the one I didn't was because of family emergencies back home

I did attend!

I did attend!

I missed one because I forgot.

I attended all the sessions

I did attend all of them.

I attended all of the sessions

Forgot to go.

I spaced out and just forgot about my sessions.

I was sent emails everyweek to remind me, but i frequently forgot i had the meeting just becuase it was in a different building or I didn't have anything else that day, so it was not like i had a planned schedule.

The one that i did not attend I had forgotten about and then I was going to make it up but i was in the hopsital but i made it up at a different session.

I was very busy with sports, and lost track of when meetings with be. I felt they weren't very helpful either, so I didn't feel the need to walk across campus for the meetings.

I forgot do go to a few of them

I forgot about one meeting.

I forgot about the meeting, and missed on accident.

I attended all the ARC sessions.

No. I didn't feel good one time so I did not attend

An emergency came up once

Because i kept up with all my school work and didn't feel i needed extra help

Sometimes there were scheduling conflicts...

Didn't feel that I needed to.

I had concerts and the like, but I always made up the ARC sessions.

I had an advising meeting come up, but I rescheduled to meeting and was able to attend at a later date.

I had other things going on such as meetings with advisors, I was sick acouple of the times

Page 2: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

I had work and family matters

I needed to study for exams or i went to see a play.

I forgot and knew some things we were going to talk about.

I guess i just didnt really motivate myself enough to go to the meetings.

I forgot, so i was obviously not as organized as i should have been... it was never the fault of the cordinator.

because i didnt feel i was in any classes that i didnt understand. Plus i could email my ARC about any quick questions

no time, not very valuable. They didn't help me.

I was doing well in my classes and was partaking in study sessions during the time of my meetings

I wasnt interested in the material we were talking about

I forgot because the time schedule changed.

I tried to attend all of the meetings but if i didn't it was because i was out of town and in that case i tried to reschdule

I think i only missed one because something came up.

The time did not work out for me, I had a lab exam.

I did

I had a dentist appointment once and the other time i had a group meeting and just forgot we were meeting at the same time.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in high school. This program sucks and its a waste of 40 dollars.

I forgot about the meeting that week.

I was busy with school work and sometimes studying.

I got busy and forgot...it happens

Unfortunately I had a hard time with the exact time. At first I thought it was one time and it was a different one. I should have paided more attention.

I was very busy either with school, or I was gone for the weekend and the only way home was if i left earlier than two.

Scheduling conflicts, we usually made it up later

I started to attended the meeting in the beginning, but then i got a job and could no longer keep my time that had worked for both me and the ARC person

On some of our meeting dates, i would go up to the room at our meeting time and no one was there..

It was hard to work around both of are schedules

i was doing well

I missed one because I was doing some homework and completely forgot. It was disrespectful of me and we were able to make it up.

i attended all of them

i missed one arc session because i totally forgot and thought that the meeting wasnt until the week after.

My ARC cancelled, they were rescheduled for later, which I attended.

I was in Indianapolis competing in the National FFA Environmental and Natural Resource competition.

I had a paper to write one day and didn't have time to meet.

Busy. Both life and homework got in the way. Also, I forgot most of them because they were bi-weekly instead of just once a week. I understand the ARC's are busy with their lifes and such, but bi-weekly can be so hard to remember.

If I missed it was because I was off a week, and therefor came in on the wrong week.

Page 3: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

Just busy, or forgot

yes

I missed one because I completely forgot, but it was rescheduled

i forgot about it.

I missed one. I was very busy and sick that week, I had forgotten that I had an exam that night and I began studying and completely missed the session.

I attended them all.

I usually just forgot about them

I forgot, or I was busy with other homework

i forgot to go to the last one. my bad.

I forgot to come (every other week schedule confused me somewhat)

I didn't know when they were, after I scheduled and it got changed.

I don't feel the need to be in the program....

Beacause i had things with a higher importance on my schedule that night.

I only missed one, and it was because I didn't think what the topic was going to be very helpful. I also have ED 105 and it was redundant information.

I did not think it was very useful, I felt I was directing the conversations.

I basically forgot once and then couldn't remember when I was supposed to go to meetings and I didn't bother asking when they were, and if I did, I still ended up forgetting to go. I wasn't very organized. The sessions also didn't teach me anything I had already known so I found them kind of pointless to go to, and there was no consequences for not going so I didn't really bother going.

Forgot

I did attend all of them I believe

i attended all of them

i have attended all arc sessions to this point

N/A

TEST

one i didnt attend because i completely forgot about it. We just caught up the next session.

I totally forgot.

time conflicted with my schedule and study time

I didn't attend all of the ARC sessions because at first I got my weeks mixed up because the thrill of being in College blind sided me, causing my to frequently miss many meeting type things including ARC. After missing two meetings I felt bad and stopped going because I was too embarrassed to just start going again.

Didnt seem worth the time

I kept forgetting to attend, after missing 2 or 3 I got discouraged and didn't go. I was stupid, I wish I had gone.

I forgot to go to one because I was so excited to go home...otherwise I did attend them all.

For one of them i had a conflicting schedule and the other was sick

Schedule conflicts

I was not aware that the sessions were on the first meeting date. So I really didnt know when my meeting times were.

it conflicted with my schedule i had planned for the day and sometimes i forgot which week was my session week.

I missed a few of the last sessions. Sometimes they conflicted with other obligations or the meeting time slipped my

Page 4: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

mind.

I found myself to be busy and had other things planned when the meetings were held

i had a mass advising session otherwise i attended al of them

I did not attend one ARC session because I had a test that day and I wanted to use the extra time to prepare for it.

i completely forgot. i remembered them about half an hour before then i stated to do something else and forgot about it.

I missed one because i was studying for an exam and i forgot about the meeting

I forgot about one of them

I was sick for one of them.

i forgot one meeting because i had homework.

I didn't miss any ARC sessions; if I did I contacted her and we rescheduled.

I attended all of them.

i did

Attended all.

There was one that i forgot about because of my job which i had just gotten and i was overwhelmed

I attended all of the sessions.

i did

I attended all of the ARC sessions.

Either I forgot or I had something else going on.

i did

Totally forgot/ had prior plans.

I attended them in the beginning but slowly stopped going because they felt the same and I really didn't feel I needed the help they were offering me at the time. This could be because my classes weren't very hard this semester or that the info they told me wasn't very useful/appealing, kind of just basic stuff I already knew.

No i just didnt make it to some for some reasons i forgot went home birthday etc

I attended all of the ARC sessions.

my dog died

i forgot about it one night

it takes too much time

I did.

I missed one or two due to homework or projects I had.

I attended all of them.

I missed one of my ARC sessions because the schedule changed and I had a busy schedule that week. The meeting slipped my mind because I was supposed to have it the next week but it got changed and I didn't remember that.

I was unable to attend all of them because I had so much going on this past semester, especially with some family situations and I was also sick.

too busy of a schedule. too much homework to do, to many tests to study for.

I had to go to study table for swim team

My ARC advisor was very unhelpful. She actually told me that going to my chemistry lectures would be simply a waste of time. She told me not to go to class! I felt that by attending sessions with an academic advisor who thinks going to class is pointless would be a waste of MY personal time.

Page 5: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

Had baseball things to og to at the beginning so then i just ended up not going to any.

I forgot it was an odd time.

Some days were unpredictably busy, but the arc did very well to contact me if I happened to mis a meeting.

I either forgot or had other meetings with my professors.

I was out of town or was sick.

I did attend all

I just didn't have time, I'm in baseball and we have study sessions 4 times a week

I was either too busy or it just slipped my mind.

I attended all of my sessions!

I had an advisor meeting.

I just forgot.

Meetings, job interview

ARC program: - 202 responses, -35 comments.

I consider myself average or good in the above areas. The book is a very helpful tool when looking for helpful information on how to be successful

I have never been very good with time management, partially because i have never had that much to manage.

I felt if I was involved in the ARC program it would help me to better my skills, because in some aspects I was lacking.

I was always a pretty good student--4.0 in high school.

I think that my time management skills could use improvement, but that may come with time.

Whenever I think I do well on a test I actually do poorly and vice/versa. I already have 21 college credits from high school, so I know how college classes work; it was a very helpful advantage. It's hard to write flat, boring science reports without creativity like the professors want.

I needed some help with procrastination and note taking. I also believed that my test taking skills needed some work. However, writing and reading were never really a problem for me

I am pretty good at the above things. I had learned to do a lot better in them here because you do not have as much time as high school but overall I am good in the sections.

I believe overall I could have been more prepared for the academics at the college level, I didnt know what to expect.

Leanna was able to help me out a lot with test taking strategies and skills and now I feel much more prepared!

i just suck at time management

I was nervous before starting classes, but once I went to class and took notes and did the readings, I felt more prepared. Time management has always been an issue with me, I'm never really sure how much time is a good amount to spend studying.

In high school I didn't have to study much and still got A's on all of my tests. It was a transition my first semester here at UWSP because I really had to read and study hard to get the same grades I got in high school.

I have always been a procratinator and I kind of brought that with me here.

My study skills were good before college, but I participated in the Arc program just in case I struggled.

TEST

I learned to print out notes before class.

nobody every told me when to do what i needed to do it was my responsibility at a younger age than normal because of that my time management has poorly grown since jr high.

Page 6: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

i didnt attend the secessions so i have no idea on how to rate the ARC

I didn't have a whole lot of self confidence when I entered college.

I am one who loves to procrastinate. I always felt like had enough time to get anything accomplished at any hour. I never really had any great way of studying before the ARC program.

probably could have used my time a little better

i learned good tips on test taking

My note taking a feel has always been one of my strongest things during school. Reading text in High School was not fun because I just did not know what was important or what the teachers wanted us to really know.

I feel like I had a good understanding of these things, however, I felt that I could improve in some of them.

I felt ready academically for college.

I'm a very good writer, and take good notes, but many times I'll watch tv or play videogames rather than study or do homework

My classes in high school helped teach me these different methods and ways of doing things that I have found very helpful.

I had some time management problems and I had lost confidence in my writing skills

My ARC program experience was very unuseful to me as I had a "not so good" advisor.

I absolutely hate studying, it is one of my weakness by far.

Being from Illinois, my preparation wasn't as thorough for the U.W. system as I had previously thought but I am doing just fine.

I consider myself a below average student.

Jenny did a wonderful job with preparing for the ARC program and did indeed help me learn a bunch of things to be successful in college.

8. Please rate how well the ARC program helped you with these five study skills:

We never discussed anything relevant to what I was have problems with. THE ARC I HAD IN ROACH WAS AWSOME I WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO ANY INCOMING FRESHMAN and I had ashley

It was definitely beneficial to my academics!

The ARC program did help me in a few areas such as test taking and reading text.

I didn't like how I went to my meet for 10 minutes and was given a bounch of information to read about how to improve the skills listed above. I was under the impresstion that we were going to be taught how to improve these things not just given infomation to read about them. I have a hard enough time keeping up on my reading for my classes so I did not have time to read all the information that was given to me. I would rather have had our ARC's show/tell us ways to improve.

I already knew almost everything that was being explained.

To be honest, I don't remember much about the academic portions of my meetings. Usually we just talked about some of my other issues and how to deal with them.

The time management session was very helpful! I recieved a lot of good advice about managing my time.

My ARC should be fired. Her name is stephanie and she did it I swear only so she could have single. Yuck. I hated her. It was so boring and she did nothing to help.

I learned some basic study strategies for my notes after I've already taken them that helped a lot. With test taking I guess you either know it or you don't...

I still need to work on procrastinating. Otherwise the program made me more aware of ways I could improve.

Page 7: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

She knows how to make it easy to be in college and makes transitions easy for you.

a lot of ideas and strategies for paper writing

we didnt talk about anything, i was already doing just fine

The ARC program provided many different ways on going about something. It really helped me out with all the tips that were given.

She was very helpful. She could answer all of the questions I had and even gave me tips on how to improve.

i don't remember which one i didn't attend

i didn't need much help. i was much more prepared for college than i thought before i signed up for the arc program.

I didn't attend any session except one.

The few meetings that I did go to basically taught me what I had already known so it wasn't to much help

it has given me a sense of encourgment

TEST

I learned to print out notes before class.

I like that my ARC advisor gave papers on the subject for a quick reference instead of just using the big book.

since I only went to a couple ARC meetings my ARC instructor should not be held responsible for my study skills.

I didn't really feel like any of the "new found" information was something I hadn't heard before. So, I think I was more prepared for college than I originally thought.

Megan was a very big help she always had a thorough answer for me if i had a question and she knew what she was talking about.

The sessions didn't really help

Time management is one thing I really learned about through the ARC program.

Jodi [The ARC program] gave me great ideas including using note cards while reading the text. She also demonstrated a great organizer for my time. She gave me a sheet where it has all of the hours in a day, with boxes to fill in what i should be doing during those times. I have stopped procrastinating as much, and I feel a lot more confident in completing homework and other tasks in my life.

i'm pretty much alright with these skills

They stayed the same

I have difficulty with taking test and am still trying my best at them. With the writing of papers i have always struggled with them and i have gotten all the help i need and i have to do the rest of it on my own.

I feel that the most helpful session was the reading text session because before it would take me a long time to read and understand material, but after learning some tips, I get through reading a lot faster and am understanding the material.

She hit all of the points

My Time Management has had the biggest improvement and I am completely happy with this because this is one of the things that I really wanted to make better.

The sessions on time management and test taking really helped me throughout this semester.

Some parts were useful and others were not. Having the writing papers section this late in the semester was not very useful.

I was given a lot of good advice on how to do all the homework and study, and still have time to do fun activities as well

Most of the information that I received I had already known about from high school and my own experiences.

didnt have time to get to more than one meeting

I knew how to read texts pretty well, I like to read everything

Page 8: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

My ARC just asked me a lot of questions and provided me with answers if i needed help.

I think there were alot of good ideas that I will eventually utilize. I procrastinate so we'll see.

I actually used my arc for talking about problems that were not acedemic related but college related Most all of these things I am capable of doing, but she always gave me new ideas just in case someday i will need them.

11. Please comment on the ARC program book, BECOMING A MASTER STUDENT. -80 comments.

It helped me to become a better student! i didn't really use it

had a lot of information that was helpful about the areas that i was struggling in

Good book, very helpful.

Very helpful and answered all the questions I had.

I thought the articles were good, although on top of having homework, unless i needed to reference something for help (which really never happened) I didn't use the book. Although it did have a lot of good information in it.

It was helpful. But not very intersting to read.

It had a lot of helpful suggestions, useful tips.

Besides using it during the sessions, I really didn't use the book but foresee that it could indeed be useful in the future.

It was just a lot of extra reading

It was more interesting than I was expecting.

I probably should have looked at it, but like I said, I was always a pretty good student, so I got by just find without it.

I never read it really becuase I had other more important things to read for class.

The ARC book was a nice resource when no one else could help and my ARC wasnt available because of class etc.

when i looked at it it provided valuable information

i really didn't look at it or use it outside of my ARC meetings.

POOR Very Poor Below average.

I didn't really use it much because I had more pressing school work at hand most of the time.

It's common sense and all stuff I already knew...some ideas were even silly like singing writing ideas to your roommate

The book was basic common sense to me, I could almost guess word for word what it was going to say.

the ARC book is very helpful. Also I had to have it for my education class so overall it really helped me out.

found the one on one meetings more helpful than the book

I didn't read the book too much on my own time, but when I did, it had a lot of good information.

very informative and has alot of applicable information.

boring read

The ARC book was there if I needed it. If I was not sure how to start a paper I could quickly look at the ARC book for help.

I felt that the book was not necessary because my ARC was able to provide the all the paper anyway and it was all nice and organized. I would say that I would get rid of the book for next year.

havent opened it yet

I liked the arc book. I used it alot for tips on how to study which is what i needed the most.

Page 9: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

My interest was very high because I didn't really know how to use it or where to look. However, the things my ARC pointed out were very helpful.

I haven't read it at all. If all the information the ARCs have come from the book, why does the student participant have to pay money for a waste of space?

Of course it's not exciting to read, but it had a lot of useful techniques in it

Just used as a reference, never at the meetings

i think i will eventually read it i just haven't yet. not a whole lot of time to read it once school starts. a good idea would be to get the book to the students before school starts so they can feel a little more prepared and they have time to read it.

It is a good quick reference book, I would not read it through though.

There is a lot of information, and if I ever need help with anything related to school, I can look into it whenever I need it.

There were a lot of interactive activities in the book that helped me to apply the things so that I could practice them before putting them into action in the real world. Also, it helped me learn things about myself so that I could apply the book in a more personal way.

The only time i used it was with my ARC.

I only used it when I went to my ARC meetings.

I never really read it so I don't know if it was very helpful.

It was good and I used it a couple times for some of my classes

helps

There was a lot of good information to look at.

It has many useful items in it.

It had a lot of good information that helped me do better in school.

TEST

The book was really helpful and had a lot of great information and tips.

The papers that my ARC advior gave me seemed to be more benefical to me than the book.

didn't take the time to read it. may have been a mistake.

it helps if you have the time to read it. most of the time if i did have something simple to ask my ARC i would consult the book but i never read it out of interest.

i found some articles interesting in the fact that some of the information relating to study distractions was really interesting

I did not really use or take a lot of time to read over a lot of the information in the text.

It was easy to use/read

It was all right but I used the handouts my arc gave more than I did the book.

i didnt read much out of the book

The ARC book was very helpful. It gave a lot of excellent ways to improve how I do my homework, how to read texts and remember and a lot of other very useful techniques I can use throughout my college career.

I never opened mine, but my ARC showed me a few things in hers.

the book has lots of information and it is a great thing to have. if felt at the begining that i was not going to finish it all but only found myself reading what i wanted to read and that is nice.

It was a good book I enjoyed it very much.

I think this book is very helpful because if there is ever a time that you are stuck, you can just open the book and find tips for what you are looking for.

Page 10: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

It had a lot of points. I will keep it for future use.

i didnt use it very much

I loved how the ARC book has so many different colors and the text type changes color and sizes. The other helpful thing was all the different pictures to demonstrate and all the activities to help myself know what kind of student I am.

The book was helpful, but I would've like more help from the ARC's on how to apply it to my real life because some of it just seemed a bit to unrealistic for a normal person with a busy life.

It has a lot of helpful information but I didn't look at it a lot.

I never really looked at the book. It might be something that I will look into in the future.

It was good, just a little to much information that is common sense!

It has useful sections within it but I did not want to look through the entire thing.

It will be a good resource if I have a general question about citing information, for example. Other than that, it is a waste of money.

It is filled with helpful advice, and if I ever feel as if my skills are in need of improvement, I will not hesitate to look through it for advice. I felt proficient in the skills covered during the ARC program, so I had no pressing need to improve them. If ever I do feel in need of help, I will not forget that the book and the ARC counsellors are there as a resource.

I really didn't read the book at all except for when we went through it at our ARC meetings.

Most of the information was given to me at the meetings so I found I didn't have to read the book at all.

didnt read it. was too busy with other classes

It has a lot of good tips and helpful hints

There seemed to be too much unneeded stuff.

I like the activites that I can do. I get to write in a book! FINALLY!!

It was a useful book, i just didn't use it very often. But when i did it had very helpful hints, and fun little quizzes to help determine my best way of studying, and what type of a learner i am.

The book is actually very interesting. After reading most the chapters, I found it very helpful to do the activities in each section.

Very helpful when you actually use it The book was helpful. It had some good tips.

14. Please write any comments about your meeting times. -57 comments.

They were very informative and I learned a lot! they were easy to remember

The time worked out for me nicely!

very helpful

I liked meeting at a set time during the week. I was consistent then once football was over I got out of a rhythm of the set time.

My meeting times were perfect, although i sometimes forgot about them because it was in the middle of one of my days were i only had one class at night.

This worked out well so you could plan for it ahead of time and fit it into your schedule.

It was helpful that the times were regularly scheduled that way it was easier to remember and it became part of my routine.

it worked out good!

Many times we couldn't meet, but I still like having a set time, even if we have to change is sometimes.

Page 11: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

They were fun, short, and to the point. I learned a lot!

after the first meeting i didnt feel like going

Meeting at the same time helped me to remember to go to the meeting in the first place.

They were on a regular time but the ones I missed had to be rescheduled for differnt times and days. This got a bit confusing but it needed to be made up so I understood.

I liked having it at one time because it is easy to remember. If I was to do it again I would choose a different time to make sure I could make them all.

we decided early in the year when we should meet. it worked good.

They fit into my schedule very well.

fine

All the meetings went well!

meeting times were good because they worked around my schedule

I would prefer them to be the same time, however I know things come up which results in changes.

The whole bi-weekly meeting made the whole program useless at times. What's the point learning about time management and good note-taking after a mid-term? There isn't.

As previously mentioned, I'm terrible at time management and was always off on my scheduled meeting times. My ARC was very lenient though, and always got me the information I needed, even if it meant coming in on the wrong week.

My ARC coordinator was really flexible if I needed to change due to an conflict.

sometimes meetings were rescheduled due to conflicts but it worked out well

Easier to remember when it is at the sametime every week.

My schedule changed a lot during the semester so I was not able to keep regular meeting times.

There was nothing wrong with them. They were good times that worked with my schedule, I just forgot to go to them.

The meeting times were very convenient.

It was nice having someone to talk to and it wasn't all about school.

TEST

I liked meeting every Wednesday at my given time.

She always used such a positive attitude, which gave me a positive attitude toward the meeting.

I think I only attended two sessions.

13 is bullshit I didn't attend so how the fuck am I supposed to answer it?

They were at a time that worked for me and they were short but to the point!

I was not really aware of my meeting times

it was nice to have all of them the same there was one time when i wasn't able to make my regular meeting so we rescheduled.

i enoyed them because they helped me find relaxation in the stressfullness of other college courses

I liked having my meetings later at night because I am more of a night owl.

We planned it out so it was right in between all of my classes. This worked out great because I could easily remember that it was every other Tuesday.

always easy knowing when the meeting is every week so there are no suprises

Meeting times were great. glad that times were flexible.

I like meeting at a regular time because I know when the meeting is and it is easier to remember when the meetings are.

Page 12: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

They were every useful

For me it is easier to know when my meeting would be.

The meeting times were set and were fine, no problem at all. Set times are easier to remember because they're always the same, not constantly changing on you.

It made it easier to remember when they were!

Meetings were in a quiet setting and it was easy to communicate with ARC leader.

My ARC was always there on time for the most part ready to teach me the lessons for the day. I liked how she always had a set time to meet and reminded us the week before we met.

My meeting times were right in the middle of the week at the end of the day. It was a nice time to meet.

I would have loved to attend more of my meetings but I had to many personal problems going on this past year, and was unable to attend, I feel awful but my arc was great.

i was too busy to attend more than one

They were effective

They were just fine.

I personally am a very scheduled person, so i like having the ARC program every two weeks at a cetain time so I can always count on and plan around the ARC meetings.

I think if my meeting times had been in the afternoon I would have remembered to go.

15. Did the ARC program assist you in your academic transition to college? Yes -158, No -44,

-202 responses, -80 comments.

They were very informative and I learned a lot! It didn't.

It helped to have someone to go to with questions

made it easier to deal with situations that might have been stressful otherwise

She was very helpful and honest. Her advice was useful and not bogus.

It definitely helped with the academic transition!

It was very helpful.

Knowing what to expect and how to work through it.

Helped with study skills, test taking, and writing.

the program especially helped me when applying for the second semester. I had a situation i didn't know how to handle and Steven helped me to fix it, and also how to find classes.

It helped me to feel more comfortable.

It gave me useful tips that I wouldn't have known otherwise; things that I should do to make college easier like time management and study help.

It provided me with a smooth transition and helped it to be less stressful while providing me with useful information.

:)

I thought helping out with registering for classes was helpful.

It was nice to have one on one time with someone who could answer my questions and help me along.

It taught me how to improve my study skills, and other usefull things.

It helped me feel more prepared for classes and helped me be more aware of what was going on in college

It helped me learn some good advice that will surely help me in the future!

my ARC stressed time management and was another support system to help me when i struggled.

Page 13: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

got me more prepared for college life

info at first meeting was good, kinda common sense though

not really, my ARC was great don't get me wrong, i could come to her and talk about anything, but i was pretty well prepared to begin with and the stuff i need help with were wings that i had to discover for myself.

She was terrible and creepy wierd. I guess that is just ARC's. w/e.

They helped me some of the stress in college, but I had an idea beforehand of what to expect.

It made me realize that as long as I stay on top of my homework and studying then I already knew what needed to be done all along.

She pointed out things that I needed to know. The most important things were the ones that were talked about when we talked about college.

It gave me some tips on how to adapt to my professor and the curriculum that I would be studying under.

transition was fine, wasnt a big deal

I believe that it helped me out in my transition into college. I did not really know what to expect so sometime I would ask my ARC leader and she would say something that usually happens.

Well, I will say yes, but it sort of helped with the transition, I would say that I was better prepared then I thought I was so it wasn't completely necessary.

She was very helpful at pointing out all the resources available to me at UWSP. She pointed out a lot of groups and activities too.

She made me feel more comfortable about my school work and how to go about doing it efficiently.

Traci asked me about my day, how I was fitting in, what my previous habits where coming in. It was nice to share some of my feelings of frustration and doubt to a person who went (is going) through it.

Really helped by showing different time-management methods, since I've always struggled with that.

not my academic transition so much but it helped my social transition along with answering any questions.

I was able to get introduced to how to registering for classes but the study skills I already knew from teaching them to students in high school.

It helped meunderstand more of what college entails.

It helped me recognize the differences between high school and college and how to properly follow the college system in order to be successful.

It helped since I had previously been home schooled and was not used to taking notes and tests.

I felt mentally prepared AS i came into college. The ACR program only taught me things that i already knew.

Offered me a little insight on how to be better prepared.

I was scared about going to college because everyone had told me it was going to be very hard and I would have to study all the time and I found it to be a lot like high school so I didn't really need this to help me transition because it wasn't much different than what I had been used to.

The program was something I could always turn to.

It helped with certain study categories.

It helped me manage my time better.

He is nice and friendly, was very helpful

I liked having somebody there for me when I had questions to ask.

She helped me inprove on skills in my academic areas that would have otherwise used what I learned in high school and that would have made it a bad turnout.

For the two times I did go in to the ARC she did give me valuable tips and hints as to what could make me a better student.

Again, I felt like I needed help, but none of the information was really new to me. I had heard all of it before, and I

Page 14: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

think I was more prepared than I thought.

She let me know if i ever had any questions that she was there

I didnt attend the meetings at all so the program didn't really help me.

Megan did everything very thorough. She helped a great deal without laughing at my questions even if they were obvious ones. She is a great person to talk to and wasn't judgemental at all about any topic.

it was very helpful, but the fact that i am a transfer student gave me a little more of a leg up on college

It helped me learn the difference between college and high school.

it was nice to have someone i could talk to about some of the things i was going though.

If I had any questions, such as my major, or where BIO life was... She would look it up and find it for me either before our next session or she would even email it to me. Jodi was a great help with ARC and my transitioning to college.

i was already here for the summer

No, the only thing it helped with was being able to talk to someone older that already knew what was going on.

Helped me feel less overwhelmed by the transition from high school, to college.

i gave me some much needed tips to undersand the difference between high school and college. it was also nice to have someone to talk about these things with.

It gave me good tips to study for college classes

I think that it helped a lot with the transition to college. A lot of questions that first year students have and I feel that this was a good way for these questions to be answered.

She added to what i knew

We got a tour in the beginning and that really helped because I even got shown directly to one of my rooms that would have been extremely hard for me to find on my own.

It was nice talking to someone and getting some advice.

Prepared me more for the types of things I would encounter in college level classes.

It really helped me learn how to manage my time well, while still having fun.

It was helpful to know that other students also have the same issues as me in college.

I think I would have been fine without this program, but it did give me the peace of mind knowing that someone was there to help me if I needed.

I already knew most of the information that was given to me. The one meeting that really helped me was the meeting about Registration.

It helped to give me a boost in understanding how academics in college works and what you need to succeed at them.

Just allowed me to get comfortable and ask questions to someone who has been through it.

I felt more at ease with tests. I knew kind of what to expect becuase I had similar classes.

it helped me because i was able to ask my arc different questions not only about the topic of the day but also about different things around campus as well.

She helped me feel more at home and was very friendly towards me.

I knew where to get help after she told me that was about it. Very much so. My arc helped me realize i am not the only lost freshman on campus and that stress is part of the process so it is ok to be crazy sometimes It helped my with time management

16. Was it helpful to have one on one attention? Yes -178, No -24, -202 responses, -64 comments.

It helps with individual needs or questions

Page 15: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

it let me know they were really interested in helping me

My arc, ashley was awsome she knew you personally and by name which was nice and actually cared about you

I was able to ask questions i normally wouldnt ask in a group environment.

Focused on what i needed help with.

Like i mentioned earlier i probably wouldn't have known how to approach the scheduling situation without that one on one help.

I felt like i got to know my ARC.

You can ask questions and get immediate feedback and answers.

It was helpful because it gave me the opportunity to share personal stories and as questions.

It was helpful when I had specific questions about classes in general, but as far as learning skills to assist me it was not helpful because I did not learn them, I was given information to read about them.

I'm a one on one kind of person, so I really liked the set up of this.

They could answer your questions right away and the entire time was for you alone.

It was nice that someone was there to focus on what i needed help with at my meeting times and even outside of them she always said to feel free and not to be afraid to ask her anything

I liked one on one attention because then all of my personal questions were answered

i found it really easy to learn and be able to ask questions about things

I learn more personally one on one.

It was nice just to have someone experienced to ask questions and get general advice about college life

It didnt hurt and my ARC was very nice and easy going.

It is easier to talk to one person and get to know them rather than a big group and get to know them and feel comfortable.

I could ask any questions I wanted, and for the most part my ARC leader knew the answers and explained them very well.

The one on one assistance was very helpful because I was able to focus on what I needed to work on.

didnt really need it

Yes it was helpful to have one on one time because I could address any issue that I may have been having in a class or even outside of class

I felt that one on one time was more efficient than if it would've been in a group because I wasn't afraid to ask questions.

Yes, but it also would have been fine to be in a group, i mostly just listened to what she said.

It was nice, but it would be cool to have group sessions on things like note-taking, procrasination, so I could see how other people deal with such problems. The informational sheets from the book has some strageties, but there's just so much more you can get from group discussions.

Gave me help advice specifically on what I needed

i think if i had had any problems that it would've been a great help.

It was nice to get the time for me.

It was nice to be able to talk to someone knowing that they could help you with any problems you had.

It's easier to concentrate and pay attention with one-on-ones.

It makes it more personal to have someone talking one on one with you, and personalizing the meeting to fit you and not a group of people.

My arc was wonderful, but i only learned about the things that i already knew. I felt that it was a waste of my time. The

Page 16: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

company was good, but i could see myself doing more productive things.

I could ask specific questions when i had them.

It was for the few times that I went because if I ever had any questions I wasn't afraid to ask them.

It was nice to have somebody talk with you who had already been in college for a year.

Its easier to be able to talk to someone one on one instead of having several people there because I could say things that i might not want to say in front of a bunch of people.

I loved it.

It allowed me to feel that she was interesting in what she was doing, not just doing it because she had to.

did not attend but wish I had.

It would have been useful if I had run into any troubles, but I had a lot of support from friends and others, so the sessions weren't as important to me as they might have been for someone else. I also felt prepared to take on most of my classes, and didn't have a lot of problems in managing my time.

Especially, in the beginning of the semester. It was nice to talk to somebody who had more experience and it was nice to be able to ask questions and not have to worry about feeling stupid.

yes that way i was not embarrassed to ask questions and it was focused all on me

it helped me i was able to ask my questions with out having similiar questions that wasnt quite amswered.

one on one and the patience to help me has always given me very good results

Becca was very helpful, she answered all of my questions.

It was a lot easier to ask questions when things are one-on-one

It helped a lot actually because i was able to ask questions and we could go at our own pace. We could talk, instead of her lecturing or reading at us.

It helped a lot actually because i was able to ask questions and we could go at our own pace. We could talk, instead of her lecturing or reading at us.

Could focus on specific problems or questions I had.

I was able to ask questions when I needed to.

I liked the one on one assistance because there was no pressure there from other people. I felt way more comfortable with a one on one than I would have felt if it were a group thing.

She was always happy and said hi

It made me feel like someone really cared about how I was doing in my classes, and I now know that I can come and ask my ARC any questions I may have.

One on one assistance help me be able to ask questions when I needed to.

My ARC did a great job with the personal attention in this program.

I got to ask any questions that I thought were necessary.

It was easier to ask questions and understand the material and I wasn't as pressured to get through the material. I could work at my own pace.

Having one on one attention made me feel more comfortable. I was able to ask questions when I wanted to and if I understood something we didn't need to go over it multiple times.

I just wish it was more goal oriented, I didn't really need an arc to get my homework done.

One on one help is much more useful to me than group settings because you can ask whatever you want and you can get as much help as you need.

I felt important. My questions could come out with little effort so I didn't feel intimidated.

It really helps for the material and the idea that they want you succeed set in.

Somewhat.

Page 17: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

The people were nice.

17. Did the ARC program assist you to become familiar with resources on campus? Yes -163, No -38,

-201 responses, -58 comments.

She helped me to know where to go for tutoring and how to and where to go to fill out a work order. It let me know of the things that were available

It was very helpful and resourceful0

This was something not covered.

he always offered help

Helped me learn where everything was.

Informative as to where to go and what to do when something comes up and you need something on campus.

My ARC mentioned resources such as the learning center and places I could go and people I could see regarding tutoring, while these are only some of the examples as to how the ARC program informed me of on-campus resources there are many more.

We were going to go to the library for a tour, but it never quite happened...

I learned about a couple, but I really didn't ask about many so I bet there was more I could of learned about.

My ARC told me about things that i didnt even know about like recoreders and stuff availble to make it easier if you are a person who cant take notes very well and need to go back

the ARC knew every question that i had- even if it wasn't related to class.

expanded my knowledge on what was avaiable to me as a student

Very helpful at directing me towards were the resources were located on campus.

When I had a problem, my ARC usually referred me somewhere helpful with a card

She gave me and a few others a complete tour as well as locating exact classrooms. She showed me how to do my schedule and I learned from her where to get help and how the best way to obtain it is.

She taught helpful places to go to get the help you need for your classes.

talked about the tlc a lot

He explained where to go to sign up for classes next semester along with where to go for help if I had questions with classes.

Before the ARC program I didn't know about the TLC that helps with papers.

I think our actually arc person was very helpful but not really the book and material. It was just nice having someone older to talk to about school.

we didnt talk about anything

The ARC leaders were willing to help you find anything, but I knew where things were already.

My ARC pointed out the TLC and other resources on campus that were very helpful during my classes first semester.

She told me places I could study.

She did her best. She always asked at the end if I had any questions, so things she shared with me were the things I wanted to know.

I missed the very first group meeting when we toured the campus, (of course), so I didn't learn about all the different resources, but if I had any questions, she was very willing to answer them.

It familiarized me wit SIEO, which is how I got my job off campus.

My ARC told me there was a tour in the library so I could become familiar with it.

I now know where all of the building are on camous, which really helps!

Page 18: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

I didn't really find out much about resources except for the Tutoring Learning Center.

Yes, i learned of new things on campus, but i never took any of them under consideration.

I was also in the FIG program so I found that to be more helpful in becoming familiar with rescources on campus more so than the ARC program.

Very familiar.

She showed me the places I could go and she told me to ask my professor if it was something specific to that class.

I didn't go enough to familiarize.

Though I didn't need a lot of advice on studying, my ARC answered questions I had about different dinning areas and how to use the library, and other resources around campus. Very helpful, especially if I didn't know a lot of people on campus.

Not so much as assist, but emphasized how important it was to use the resources around and where to go if you need help. Because there is always somewhere that will help you out.

Yes we went over abbreviations and how and where to use things...it was very helpful

i could ask where something was and i would beable to know without the gruelling search through the campus site for information on one thing.

i really didnt know much about the help that campus could offer here.

There were maps provided, and schedules of different events happening on campus.

i already knew pretty much everything about the resources on campus

I knew I could ask my ARC if I wasn't sure where something was or how to go about finding different information

She let me know how things on campus worked. But some things I did not need to know so I did not ask about them.

If it were not for the ARC program, I would not know of any of the resources on campus.

Told me where some places are

With the Library and different things.

I know alot more about the Website and resources that are there for me.

She took me to the library and the museum which I had never been to before. She kind of took me around and I found that very helpful.

I was told where I could go to get information and we went through MyPoint.

I was told were everything was and where i needed to go certain things

showed me tutoring center

I know where the library is and where I can use some resources around campus.

Information about resources was greatly appreciated.

she gave me a map and explained meal plans and other such things about campus, she also hooked me up with the greatest psych tutor ever.

I found out things I never even knew were here actually existed. Jenny taught me alot of new things especially with the myPoint pages and registration

20. What suggestions do you have for any additional ARC sessions that you feel would be helpful to you next

year (i.e. any ideas for additional/new or alternate sessions)? -124 comments.

I dont have any suggestions it was a good program. more work with the writing center and tutoring/learning center

Make sure the ARC's you choose are friendly.

Page 19: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

TAilor to the individuals needs and concerns

none it was good

I think you might stress more on how to read and take notes in a timely and efficient matter.

Talk more about campus and locations of buildings.

maybe make them more fun?

Maybe just inform more about all the different services

I don't really have any.

meet more

I felt that everything went well.

Maybe have an entire meeting based on finding things on the UWSP website. and what it all has to offer. including the H drive.

Maybe get the opinion from the students and what they need the most help on.

Be more specific as to when we are supposed to meet.

no.

none

I thought the sessions we covered were the main things I wanted to focus on.

No, the information was useful and I am not convinced that additional information should be presented.

Nope

it was perfect the way it was

I think the sessions you had would have been good; but again I wish I would have been taught the info rather than just given a packet of info at every meeting.

I think it's all good

Not really.

Maybe make more trips to see more of the campus.

Meet at different, fun places.

I believe the ones now are fine.

none i liked the program alot the way it was

None

the system works well on its own, i feel that the individual needs to take more responsibility into the program

Maybe a session about the different clubs or organizations or recreational activities on campus

all i ever did was email my ARC with any questions. that should really help students with questions that they have that day instead of waiting for their ARC session to come around.

I thought it was pretty good as is maybe more information provided at the meetings

none.

We could visit all those places listed on the last page, but not when its hot out.

I can't think of anything to suggest at this moment.

I think they should be qualified to specific majors or classes and help with homework instead of general study skills to be more applicable

Maybe more about the resources and how to find them.

Maybe having a bigger variety in time otherwise it was all very helpful and I do not think I would choose to change much.

Page 20: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

talk about tests earlier in the year, most of my midterms were done when we talked about it.

It was good.

maybe have a session talking about how to be responsible and manage your time better

talk more about actual test taking and studying because that was what i thought it would be about. Not goal setting and time management which i had corses on in high school.

dont need them

No, It all was good.

I think that the program was well developed and doesn't really need too many changes, except to change the book or get rid of it all together.

none

i think that there should be more worksheets handed out with specific topics such as test taing, note taking etc.

I think all of the sessions were very helpful.

Maybe have group sessions for cheaper

Maybe tie in a more major-focused session, ex: what to be focusing on if you're a Communications major and maybe extra-cirricular things to support your studies with... etc. I don't even have a major picked out, but I know the general direction I want to go and I think it might have been useful to talk about the options I have, similar to sessions with an advisor, but most-likely more time and attention given to it.

Have group sessions. It would make it more interesting

None

have the topics covered before the semester is too far in. ex. test taking was covered after i took like 3 or 4 tests

Put in some tutoring or class guidance.

n/a

More sessions

e-mail the student if they don't attend

None

Overall I thought it was good.

Just show the resources on campus and how to get involved and what they may cost. Maybe "field trips"

None

to not read straight out of the book. it was boring. i found myself doing alot of nods and smiles.

Maybe an interactive group activity at the beginning of the year to meet new people around campus.

Have more for the instructor to say/help than just handing them handouts

I don't really have any.

I have no suggestions for additional ARC sessions.

All of the ARC sessions were very helpful but maybe they could have a final session to go over anything else that we have questions on.

Not really any suggestions. I liked it the way it was.

none

None.

Make sure that the assigned topic for the session correlates to the time in the semester. We went over plagarism right before i started my final paper.

I don't have any because it was good.

less reading from a book/papers

Page 21: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

I can't think of any, she really helped me.

none

idk

I thought the sessions could be fairly useful if needed. I don't know if this is already done because I never asked, but for students who may be having problems with certain classes, I think a list of other students in the dorm that are taking that same class should be put together, and maybe some general group sessions should be set up so you can get to know other students in the course.

There should be more follow up's to see how you did on a certain exam or quiz...check up on to see how big projects or papers are going...let the student know that you really don't mind doing the things you offer.

have a printed schedule of meeting times at the beginning of the semester

Meet more often.

have a weekly meeting

not sure

not to much i really gained a lot from this experience

Go over a few more study habits we should get into just entering college.

i think the program is fine how it is

I would say maybe get rid of the book and have the arcs share their personal experience.

I thought that Jodi was a great help. I don't have any ideas for her specifically.

Give out more information on things that would be useful to know.

it's pretty much good as it is.

none

More information on different areas of campus

A major/minor session. Discuss their major, why they are taking it, what they can do with it etc.

to go through the book early on and possibly go through things in any possible order so you could get what you need urgently first, like moving paper writing up so if you need help in it you can be ready for your first paper.

non

I think that all of the information the ARC program goes over is great, and in my sessions, if there were any questions about anything I could always ask.

Maybe have some games

It was satisfactory to my needs.

At first my ARC never showed up to the regular meetings, so then I switched ARC's and everything went very smoothly. I think it is helpful for your ARC to show up to meeting, when he or she knows you will be attending the meeting.

Make it more fun and helpful so I actually really want to go.

I don't have any

Reading text effectively

Don't have any.

no

i liked the way it was

Have the writing papers section earlier in the semester.

none

I think most things were covered pretty well.

Page 22: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

Maybe more meetings on advising and helping to pick out a major.

If they focused more on during our homework with our arc and see how we actually prepare ourselves for class and what to do differently.

maybe trying to schedule sessions at different times eachtime

I think its good, its very helpful and fun

Just be open minded and allow the students to come to you with questions and not overwelm them. My ARC meetings were very chill and that helped alot.

Promote going to class, not skipping and just getting by.

Have more hands on activities

maybe have extra seesions on test taking and how to study before, and how to do well on the day of the test

Basic UWSP school resources.

none

Maybe a little more information about campus resources and campus recreation.

More hands-on activities, and less lecturing and explaining.

Make it cost less.

Maybe you could try to set up the students with an ARC with the same major, so the student can ask more question about classes around registration time.

Give more information, I didn't get a lot.

alternate sessions

21. Do you think that any ARC sessions should be entirely eliminated (please explain)? -141 comments.

No, I think it is very helpful for helping to transition students to college life. no

No- I'm sure that not all the ARC's are unfriendly, and I'm sure some of them are helpful.

No, just make sure its something the learner needs to know, not useless or information already learned.

no they were all very helpful

No, because they helped me in different ways and i think they might help other people to.

No.

no

no because sometimes the one on one is helpful

no

No

no, the one on one time was really benificial to becoming a better college student

No I do not. Every ARC session was informative, and you would not want an overload of information all in one session.

Not really, maybe have only the sections the student wants help with, otherwise they will be sitting at meeting of stuff that won't really help them.

No they were all very useful and things that people need to know. All of the sessions helped me.

no...

no.

Page 23: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

absolutly not

No, they were all helpful in some way, even if you were decent at what it is the session was on, there is always new stuff to learn.

No

Nope

absolutly not

No

Only went to two and one was on time management and I didn't need help in that area.

No. I think the one on one attention is good for students.

No, I felt I got a well rounded idea of what I needed to work on.

No

no.

no because it all helps in some way

No

no, its not mandatory, and the people who need it are getting help... which is doing a lot more than most other clubs on campus

no they are all helpful. Even if a student is fully capable in some areas other students are not. Also it is good refresher as well.

no i think ARC sessions make students answer to someone other than themselves which may make them work harder, and they also have the support of someone on campus.

no for those of the people that particpated i feel like this group really helped them and was a good place to answer questions

No, i think they were all very helpful.

No.

yes. they are pointless in my opinion. Most kids that go to college are in the top 1/3 of there class so generally they are good test takers and know what to do.

No, I think that the ARC sessions had the right amount of meetings.

no because some people definitely need them

No, they were all helpful in different ways.

No, I think all ARC sessions in some way will benefit anyone. Especially freshmen that just want a quick head-start on things.

no

No, I thought all of the sessions were helpful to me. I thought the set up was nice.

No.

No, I think that they could be helpful to many students who have a difficult time adjusting to the college atmosphere.

no, some people might have needed different things.

no

Page 24: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

No

no, they were all important.

No i think that they are helpful to students who seek them.

No, I took something valuable from all of the sessions.

No, all of the sessions can be helpful sometime during school

No, definitely not. They provide great help for studying and excelling in school, and are resources where I can find answers to any other questions.

No, I think all of the ARC sessions were very helpful.

n/a

i think they should be directed at people who need them the most. A lot of the information that was provided at the meetings i already had a pretty good grip on. maybe a better description for the freshmen that are interested in the program so they will know for sure if the program benefits them or not.

No, if students know that they need the help to learn study skills they should be able to get it.

no, I think it helpful

No, I think they were all pretty helpful

No, I think they are extremely helpful for those people like me who had a hard time making the transition from high school to college. The ARC program definitely helped me a lot.

no, i think they are very helpful for those who need them. i think that it is important for new students to get help and perspectives from more experienced students who attend the same school

None

No.

Nah, some people it could really help. I was more prepared than I thought.

No, the one on one was helpful.

No.

maybe others found it useful personally I didn't but I don't think that means they should be eliminated

No, I think they cover the important issues

Maybe the one on writing papers.

No.

No, they were all very helpful.

No because they are useful and some students need help more than others and need more one on one attention. It also gives you someone to talk to about things other than school.

no not really, they all helped in some way

No

No. I think the sessions are very helpful. It gave me a chance to talk to someone about all my issues relating to school, not just what the topic of that session was. Stevie was amazing, and we actually plan to keep talking incase of any more struggles i have next semester.

NO! I was helpful!

No, some people actually need this to learn how to adapt to college.

No, some people, like myself, need the extra guidance to make sure they are doing things right or what they are doing wrong.

Page 25: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

no I think if a person puts in a little effort to attend the meetings they are very helpful.

no

no, I went to 2 or 3 meetings and they seemed like they would definitely be helpful to some people. Signing up for ARC is optional so if you want to do it you sign up for it, and I see no reason to eliminate it.

No

no

no, i think if they are beneficial to some students then they should keep them

No

no they are amazingly helpful and i would do it again if i could if i had to redo freshmen first semester.

No, it might help some people it just didn't help me

no, they should remain optional and those that attend can recieve the benefits of them

No, they were all equally helpful and allowed us to ask more questions.

no because they are helpful when adjusting to the new college life style

No

i think that they all are helpful in some way

NO, they are helpful to different people and nothing should be eliminated. Someone might not have a problem reading texts, but they procrastinate or vise verse.

I think all sessions are important.

possibly the note taking session, if the particular student is confident in their skills in that area.

no, they are very informative when you have questions because you are a freshman and have not experienced some things yet.

No, it's nice to have someone to go to if you have any questions.

No

no

No. It's a very helpful program for transitioning to college.

i feel that if the participant does not ant to cover that information they should not have to.

No, cuase the point is to have that one on one time to ask questions.

no

nope.

No, its good for people who dont know about how it works

No.

No, they are all needed.

No they were all pretty normal things that new college students worry about.

No

No, all of them really seemed to help me in some way or another.

no

no

no they r helpful

No, even though I wasn't personally extremely affected by them I think they helped out a lot of people with the transitioning.

No.

Page 26: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

I think they all should stay because each one had something important to offer.

No because I think some people can really benefit from these meetings. I just came to college prepared because my Dad has been preparing me for college for the past 4 years.

no.

No

NO, i think they are a good option but the ARC program needs to make sure they are able to answer every question the freshman may have.

Yes, unless there are some very good ARC representatives. I could have been unlucky however, and gotten a lousy one.

No.

No, all of them were large topics that i feel many college students could use help with.

No they all help in some way.

NO, the ARC sessions provided me with someone I could talk to about anything that I had questions about, either personal or campus related. The program is a successful way to make freshman more comfortable with their new surroundings.

No. Each session was very helpful and full of useful information.

No, because they are great for new students coming out of high school and making the transition.

No

Possibly it all depends on the student. I think the student should be told more about the program before they sign up.

no!

No, they all taught you a little something.

NO, because for alot of students it is helpful for the transistion from high school to college.

She helped me to figure out how to do a work order. I had no idea how to do it before.

just meeting with my arc was a great help, she taught me about writing papers and tips for general college enjoyment.

ASHLEY SHOULD RECIEVE THE BEST ARC AWARD!!!!!!!!!

I loved it. It was extremely helpful.

test taking, note taking, and studying

How become a "smart" college student

I really do not have any complaints. ARC program was very helpful.

i really enjoyed the one on one time

The study tips and writing essays sheets and talks were very helpful.

none

I enjoyed this program, although i had early morning meetings i liked coming to them and seeing what i was going to learn next. It is a good program for freshman especially because they are not use to half of this stuff and college is a new experience.

Thanks for the help!

yuuppp.

I enjoyed it, it was very helpful.

I really liked this program! I was very helpful and my ARC was really easy to get along with.

It helped to just talk to somebody about any problems I have

Like I said, I thought it was nice to have someone I could talk to about school and other things.

I really enjoyed this experience my ARC was awesome and made me feel really comfortable with the transition from high school to college

I think Lauren did a very nice job helping me with questions i had going into detail with information i didnt understand.

This program was very unhelpful.

ARC was supportive in some of the difficulties I experienced with school. It helped me become less stressed out and allowed me to improve my ability to study.

More about the resources that the campus offers should be stated. As well as a thorough look at what will help the student most and how to get that help.

I learned a lot from this program and I would recommend it to incoming freshmen that want to learn a lot fast so they can have a healthier start to college.

He prepared me for signing up for classes for next semester, so that took a load off of my shoulders. I wasn't too stressed out then when I was signing up because I had already gone through it with him. It was very helpful.

the information about registering for classes was especially helpful

helped me take better notes and become okay at test taking

It was nice talking to someone who already knows what college is like and to let you know you're not alone at being completely overwhelmed.

it wasnt helpful

It's a good program!

I enjoyed my ARC experience and met many new people. I also thought that Leanna was an excellent ARC, and a very nice person!

jodi did a very nice job

All of the ARC sessions were helpful. They helped me adjust to college. If I wasn't in ARC I don't know if I would've

Page 39: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

adjusted this well to the work load.

i enjoyed the one on one time and the fact that I had a person to go to for questions

Very nice ARC.

n/a

The only thing that i had any amount of useful help with was registering for second semester classes.

n/a

I didn't really find it helpful because I wasn't having trouble transitioning into college so I found it more boring rather than helpful.

It helped me with my biggest problem, time management. I never had to do much of this before college, and the ARC tips helped out a lot.

The ARC program in general was very helpful, if I had any questions they were able to help or show me where to go.

Everything helped because I found out a lot more things that I didn't really know about the campus and where things were and activities I could be in. I also was able to talk to someone about things that were always revolved around school which was nice.

good program

It was nice having someone show me how to schedule my classes and pick them for next semester.

The arc program was really helpful and it was nice to have one on one time with somebody and be able to ask questions that I needed answered.

Kim did a great job in assisting me for this school year.

.

I think the ARC program is a very good concept, but I think others could benefit from it more than I did. I feel like I was well prep in high school and I expected things to be a lot harder than what they actually have come out to be. In a sense, that is good because its not as hard as I expected, but none the less it makes me want to try even harder. Again, I do not think I benefited much from the program because of my high school preparation.

Try to push using the things given to us more...tips, the book, resouces

it was really nice having an arc to contact in our residance hall

Megan is a great ARC and I'm glad I had her. She was very helpful and kind. i suggest it to any new incoming freshmen.

i really enjoyed the ARC meetings and found them very helpful

I just wanted to Becca did a great job.

She was a great help. I really liked this program; it was very helpful.

really enjoyable arc

I like that the A.R.C. program is students helping students. It's very easy to relate to each other.

It was a great help

I think that this is a really great program and it made the transition from high school to college a lot easier because there was always someone there to help you out with this huge step in your life.

I was a good thing to have

Registration, picking classes, and learning what I needed to work on as a student.

It was worth my 40 dollars! I know more about the school, and what is expected from me in college now then I did before!

I thought the program was very nice, but I would have liked to have spent more time working on some of the lessons.

The ARC program was helpful more at the later meetings than at the beginning of the semester. The first few meetings were about things that I already knew about.

Page 40: PARTICIPANT EVAL - ARC 2008 Liv...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After the first lesson I was out of there. I didn't need a college kid treating and pretending to treat me like I was stupid and in

My arc was a great help, she did a nice job on when to change my habits. I feel awful not being able to attend most of my meetings, its been a difficult semester for me.

meh

Helped me with transferring

She has some very pretty green eyes. :)

AIMIE RULES AND SHOULD BE AN ARC TO EVERY YEAR!!!!!!!

I just wished i could have got more, I really didn't get the help I needed.
