Part C to Part D progression requirements
To proceed to Part D you need:
• At least 100 credits (module mark of 40% or greater)
• At least 55% average from part C
• No less than 30% in any remaining modules

Reassessment• If you …
• Have modules with marks <30%
• Have more than 2 modules with marks <40%
• Your average is less than 55%
• Then, if eligible, you will have to re-sit in SAP (Aug/Sept) or during the next academic year (NAY)
• To be eligible you must have at least 60 credits in Part C.• You will receive no tuition during the summer for SAP re-sits. • There is only one chance to re-sit the exams. • Your re-sit marks will be capped for degree classification purposes at the
minimum required to allow you to proceed. (55%)
• Some module are not available in SAP - e.g. TTC101 Vehicle Concept Definition and Design.
Reassessment
• If you fail to meet the requirements for progression from Part C to Part D,
you may be eligible for the award of BEng, but …
• You will have to take the BEng project modules in the next academic
year
• and gain 80 credits from Part C
• and have 30% in all remaining modules

ReassessmentIf you find yourself in this situation:
• Details will be sent to you via the online system
• Respond by the date given (likely the end of July, but check this)
• Talk to your personal tutor, year tutor (me) or program director (Dan O’Boy) if you have any concerns
Industrial placements
• ABCID
• If you manage to obtain a placement, but aren’t registered for Part I, email Malcolm [email protected]
• Or if you are registered for ABCID but have not found a placement you should also speak to Malcolm to ensure you are sent the module and project choices

Part D requirements
• 100 credits
• At least 30% in remaining modules
• Many of the modules are SAP exempt
• There is no degree classification quota
• Most modules are keeping a mix of on demand videos and in-person teaching, to reflect student feedback and offer some resilience in case of lockdown.

Part D Modules
• Module Online Choice System (MOCS) opens soon. The deadline for submitting your options will be 23rd May.
• Take note of pre-requisites for modules
• Choose options in plenty of time (first come first served….)
• You should have been notified that there is a university wide online event to support module choice … www.lboro.ac.uk/students/module-choice-event/subjects/.
• This presentation is designed to support the event but there will be an online Q&A session with me on Wednesday 19th May 2-3 pm
Final Year Project A list of projects will be released online
• You will get an e-mail informing you when the online list is available.
• http://projectlist.lboro.ac.uk/
Deadline for selection is 30th September
• Select 7 projects you would like to complete.
• It is important that you do select 7 otherwise your choices will have lower priority
• Spread your choices around supervisors.
• Final allocation will be by week 2.

Private deals
•Total of 3 private deals per academic
•Private deal: Write a one-page summary and approach an academic if you have an idea (e.g. from placement). If this project is agreed between you and the member of staff, the project will be added to their list and you will be selected for the project – this is known as a ‘private deal’.
•When you have received email confirmation of this private deal, you will NOT be required to select any further choices.
•BE PROACTIVE AND SPEAK TO STAFF!

Final Year Project
• The Final Year Project should be a rewarding experience that allows you to use knowledge gained in your degree to investigate a topic in great detail
• It is as close to research as an undergraduate can get
• Future employers may ask you to discuss your project and will certainly look at your mark
• Your (project preparation and) Project comprises 22.5% of your entire degree mark and at 60 credits should involve ~600hrs of work
• You will meet with your supervisor regularly but projects should be student led and the supervisor is mainly for guidance/support
