3) INNOVATIONS IN CURRICULAR DESIGN AND TRANSACTION:

Our high office that frames curriculum is Karnatak University, Dharwad. We have no role in the curriculum framework. However, in the capacity of member, Board of Studies, one can table his / her suggestions in updating and designing the required curriculum. Prof. Y.T.Chari was co-opted as member of Board of Studies in Zoology. In this capacity the member has contributed a lot in well crafting the syllabus. Further, Prin. P. G. Patre has been member of Board of Studies Lingaraj College (Autonomous), Belgaum. Thus, Prin. P.G.Patre has new platform to contribute his new ideas in curricular design for the autonomous college.

Annual Report, IQAC, M.A.S.C.College, Haunsbhavi – 581 109 (Karnataka)

Teachers Exchange Programme (TEP) - This programme is now a Four Years Baby. Happy note is that the programme was extended to Arts along with Commerce and Science Faculties. Many neighboring colleges in Haveri District (Karnataka) are showing inclination in becoming part of the Programme. This speaks the popularity of the program.

Students Exchange Programme (SEP) – This programme is also marching ahead. This year students of Arts and Science were also brought into the ‘SEP’ networking. The SEP provided the students to share the campus, lace relationship and a bond of friendship with the students of the colleges visited. This has a reciprocal character.

Senior Tutor to Juniors: This academic program provides platform to the Senior Students interested in delivering the lectures to their juniors. Senior students find pleasure in sharing academic dais. Juniors are influenced to step into the shoes of seniors to make the SEP a value added programme. Interested Senior Students of Commerce, Arts and Science were identified to give their academic deliveries at regular intervals. The program enriched Senior Tutors and juniors as well.

FACIT: This is a program which is knit and adopted specially for final year degree students in the college. A final year student is identified randomly and asked to face the interrogation by rest of the students and the staff in charge. The questions on varied aspects were asked to the facer of the ‘FACIT’. Facer is to reply immediately. The programme enriches and trains the students to become good interviewees, developing extemporeness. The program empowers the students in facing interviews when they step out from the college for jobs.

In the college the program was well implemented. The students were free to interrogate the interviewee selected at random.

Knowledge Enrichment Programme- This is to enrich the knowledge of our wards. A student of Arts should know something good of Commerce and Science; similarly a student of Commerce should know well of Arts and Science. Finally a student of Science should know well of Arts and Commerce. This empowers the strength of our students in alround and supports competitive edge in facing the competitive examinations.

Faculty Enrichment Programme- This is another programme which is re-started and is working similar to KEP. Only change is the audience in place of students we notice teachers. This is to enrich our faculties. With the sharing of advanced knowledge and developments in the areas of their faculties. This way we are strong enough.

Computer study has been incorporated in the syllabi of B.Com. course as one of the compulsory subjects for each class of the course. Further, students of B.A. Part II and B.Sc. Part. An Institution needs to have nerves of steel to practice ‘ Bests’ of Best and more novel practices. Our institution is not and exception to this. It believes in the ‘best practices’ that boost the society including the Teachers and the Taught. The ‘best practices’ adopted were-

Celebration of Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Karnataka Rajyotsava Day, Teachers Day, Republic Day, Birth Day of Sri Swami Vivekanand, World Disabled Day, International Women’s Day, etc. turns our students to be more responsible citizens of India to build the ‘future’.

Founders Day was observed to commemorate the unmatched sacrifice made by the great and genius people of this area in building the Institution.

Teachers Exchange Programme (TEP) and Students Exchange Programme (SEP) which have already written success story were practiced meaningfully. The twin programmes successfully build rapport with the neighbouring and associated colleges.

Organised Induction Programmes for Freshers - the new entrants to the college in the month August 2011 by Arts, Science and Commerce senior students respectively.
