As the college is affiliated to Assam University, it has the bindings to follow the examination system prescribed by the University. The semester and Annual system in degree level is existing in this college. The college also regularly evaluates students through unit test (twice) through innovative practices (seminar, assignment, group discussion) and pre-final test for improving the results in final examination. Being affiliated to Assam University, the college follows the examination pattern followed by the University. From last three years the University introduced semester system in degree level along with existing annual system. However, the college evaluates the students continuously through mid- term and pre- final tests for improving results in the annual examinations. Formative evaluation takes place during the course to determine whether proper learning is taking place by the teacher of the respective department. It provides feedback to the learners as well as the teachers. The college follows the system of consultation with the individual student and his/her guardian after terminal examination so that the strength and weaknesses can be pointed out for better performance in the subsequent final examinations. In the process of performance discussion by the faculty members with the students, whatever shortcomings, mistakes improper and incorrect answers observed are brought to the notice of the students. Correspondingly, the faculty members clarify the queries and doubts raised by the students to the satisfaction of the students. This process of evaluation of the students and discussion of their performance followed by the faculty members thereafter bring an improvement in the quality of answer on the one hand and a change in the student’ personality on the other.

Internal Evaluation Cell of the College monitors the academic progress of the students throughout the academic session. As both students and their parents are the stakeholders, of Higher Education so, through this system parents can be informed about the day to day progress of their ward. This process of involvement of parents helps to accelerate the performance of the students.

The College is at present having the objective of undergraduate teaching only, so very little scope exists to initiate research activities in the college. However, the IQAC has established the Research and Programme of Studies Cell which takes care of the research activities of the faculty member of the college. It monitors teachers’ participation and involvement in pursuing MRP under UGC, grant of leave for pursuing Ph.D. and other activities related to undertaking research. A number of events and activities take place in the college in the field of research and academic areas under the purview of IQAC. IQAC plans and sponsors a number of academic programmes, value-added programmes, Library Orientation programmes and skill-oriented programmes through the different cell and committees functioning under its guidance. Besides this, departmental seminars, classroom seminars by students, guest lectures, projects and assignments are also encouraged and supported by IQAC. IQAC of the college is the nodal body for monitoring and enhancing the awareness of all the activities which directly or indirectly fall under students support services. IQAC monitors the activities of different Cells and Committees which support the students in academic and co-curricular activities. The different committees and cells like the Students’ Welfare Amenities Cell which looks after the benefit of the poor students of the college, the Internal Evaluation Cell which looks after the progression of the students, the Library Committee which looks after the Library Services meant for the students in their academic activities, Career Counseling Cell which provides guidance on career issues, Students’ Health Care Centre which looks after the health of the students, Co-curricular Activities Cell which promotes the co-curricular aspects of the students, etc. are some of the cells which under the aegis of IQAC help to provide support for academic and overall development of the students. The IQAC in its effort to enhance the awareness of these services holds Awareness Programmes and Guest Lectures from different cells besides regular announcements through Notice Board, Prospectus, College Magazine, Orientation Programmes, etc.

The college is continuously making untiring efforts to track the progression of the students in the academic field. In each academic year the college holds several types of tests and tasks for the students of all courses to evaluate their performances. Attendance and participation in all the tests is compulsory and successful students will be sent for final examination. The different types of tests conducted by the college include unit test, seminars, assignment, projects etc. The unit tests are a powerful tool for continuous evaluation and assessment of the students’ progress. A unit test is taken on completion of teaching of certain number of units/chapters of the course. Assignments, project works, seminars, group discussions are undertaken compulsorily for the students of honours course. The college strictly checks the attendance of the students attending the lectures of respective classes. Students attending less than 75% of lectures are not allowed to sit for the final Examinations of the University or Council. Besides these, a guardians’ meet is arranged by the college after each unit test to discuss the progression of each student with their guardians. It may also be mentioned here that the Teaching Plan as chalked out at the beginning of the academic session is maintained strictly throughout the year, which further contributes to the academic performance and progression of the students.

Continuous effort is being made by the Institution to conserve nature and prevent health hazard to the community. At the same time the strategy of the Institute is to promote the issues concerning environmental conservation and spread awareness regarding the same. Tree plantation is the major concern of the management to maintain the pristine purity and beauty of the college to provide a congenial atmosphere for the academic and non-academic pursuits Green audit of the campus is carried out by the staff periodically by supervising the maintenance of the existing trees and locating places for planting new trees. Nurturing plants is one of the non-academic pursuits that develop eco-concern among the students. Areas are assigned to the Campus Beautification Cell for planting, watering, weeding and maintaining the plants, greens, herbs and trees; the yearly addition of trees to the green campus is the venture of the college authority. The Institution sensitizes students to the environment through the observance of Environmental Day. The college also takes initiative to organize seminars and awareness programmes to talk about natural environment and how human beings can conserve the ecosystem. The college also has a compulsory post on Environmental Studies to spread the knowledge on environment among the students. Besides these, for energy conservation, the College has two generators of ratings 25 KVA, 25 KVA in the College campus. Voltage fluctuation is avoided through the installation of a capacitor bank. To avoid damage of voltage fluctuation, stabilizers and UPS (20 No) are used. The use of LED/LCD monitors, CFL bulbs, and other energy conserving electric devices help to save energy. There are 52 UPS of varying capacities used in the College campus. Students are made aware of the ways of conserving energy by inculcating in them environmental ethics like switching off fans, lights and other electric appliances immediately after use. Computers, printers, copiers etc, which are not in use are closed down and disconnected at the end of a day. All personal computers utilize the power management option for conserving electrical energy. Gadgets are shut off during non working hours. Regarding plantation activities, the College invests great interest in nurturing a green campus through the maintenance of a garden and plantation of trees and plants. In the last few years, the college has planted a number of ornamental and shady plants in the campus .A herbal garden having different varieties of medicinal plants are going to be developed in the college. Different varieties of flowering trees, ornamental trees and shrubs keep the institute free from pollution and maintain aesthetics. Tree planting programmes are conducted frequently in a year. An attempt has also been done by the college to give the scientific name of the trees and plants so that one become familiar with the species.
