Rendering for Theater Costume:Instructor-created samples are used for in-class reference –Students work from varying original historical source photos to create their watercolor sketches that address textures, palette, tone, mood and period details with their renderings.

Sample handouts: Instructor sketches describing techniques for rendering using period and contemporary research images
Working from samples and independently, students practice creating the figure from “building blocks”, contour and “constellation” drawing techniques.
Using a step by step guide students evolve character costume renderings from period research.
