Mapping of Photographer’s Journey
Vvulnerable landscape; Hearsall Common, Coventry
A busy road into the city cuts across Hearsal Common, between a flat area where fairs are helds, people fly kids and children play football, and a wild area of wood and a rough field. Although the hum of traffic is audible in the woods, you are barely aware of it, because the song of the birds and rusting of small animals in the undergrowth drowns it out.
Photographer’s Diary
In March, the buds on the flowering bushes around the pond are opeining. Althouh it will be some weeks before the leaves appear on the oaks, by March there are already signs of spring, as the first leaves, blossoms and catkins appear in the hedgerows.
In the spring, April and early May, the woods are full of bluebells, and the sun dapples the treetrunks and the ground with shadows. I never walk in the woods in spring and summer without seeing squirrels dart across in front of us and run up the trees to disappear among the leaves.
By mid May, the bulebells are beginning to fade, but the hawthorn is in full bloom. Its blossom, which in England I call May, has a strange, sweet scent which fills the woods.
The oaks have their leaves now. they are among the last trees to come into leaf, and the new leaves are very soft and have a delicate shade of green. As the weeks go by the colours will darken and leaves will harden. Although the bluebells are starting to wither, other flowers take their place, and the woods are never without flowers.
By early summer the spring flowers have given way to the rosebay willow berb, and the bees are hard at work.
Under the trees, the daffodils and celandines bloom some weeks before the bluebells reapprear to tell me that sum-mer is really here.
Autumn seems to come a little late to Hearsall Common. Most of the trees are oaks and their leaves stay green longer than many trees. Even when the leaves of the chest-nuts and limes in the city avenues have turned to shades of gold and started falling, the wood at Hearsall Common is only just beginng to show autumn tones. But the berries are ripping- winter food for birds- and as the acorns ripen and begin to fall, to the delight of the squairrels, your feet crunch on them as you walk under the trees.
Almost as spectacular as the spring flowers is the wonder-ful variety of toadstools which spring up under the trees in autumn.
By mid-November, even the oaks are changing colour, and under the trees the grass disappears under a carpet of fallen leaves and acorns.
In winter, when there are no leaves on the great oaks to block out the light, the thin winter sunshine can penetrate the woods and they seem very light and open. There is very little undergrowrh and I can see from one end of the woods to the other.
There is a tiny pond on the common, at the edge of the woods, which has been restored and replanted with water plants. all through the dry spring and summer of 1997 its water level was so low that branches and other debris lying on its bed were exposed.

Design 2. Portable Studio
site: North America lakes
Agnes Denis is a photogram pho-tographer and she travels around all the lakes in the North America to do research projects. she is the user of this portable photogram studio which can be hung from trees and the dark room studio unit will be floating on a river in order to capture the water move-ments.
Design 3. Portable Photograph-ic-Paper House
site: Parks in London
It can capture any landscape views on your journey when you set up the folding photo-paper house to take a photo in place. The light tight house is considered to be assembled in a efficient way of closing the top part by designing the margins of each side of the photo paper and attaching light materials such as velcrow and magnets.
Design 6. Photo Garden site: Seoul, South Korea
This photo garden is placed in a central city town in Seoul where people can get interacted with artistic inspirations and perspec-tives. the leaves are installed with the self-orientated photo glasses with sensors in each branch. each of the panel will follow an occupant’s movement and rotate freely by the adjustable ball. this rotation of the photo panels will create amazing sky views in the internal space by reflecting through the glazed facade.
Design 1. Digital Landscape Windows
site: Paris, in a client’s living room.
He is a regular client of the tradi-tional photographers and replaces his digital landscape views of the win-dows in his apartment. The windows are being flipped by a gear mecha-nism and each of the screens contains different qualities of glasses which enable to provide more interesting spatial qualities in the client’s room. I particularly focused on designing a window unit that contains a room for rotations of the window panels and also can be slotted into a specially designed living room.
This brief suggests that the photographers are the medium that connect spaces and spaces.Lost landscape
site: Hearsall Common, Coventry
The photographers who want to produce the photos back in 1920s time of Hearsall common in Coven-try will use the settings which can create the conditions of that time such as wind blowers triggers and light intensity controlling devices. As well as this, the pinhole photog-raphy through the filter panels in-stalled in the lost landscape set, will suggest unexpected and interesting perspectives of the landscape where lights and images will be traced and filtered.
Design 5. Peppers Ghost Pinhole private theatre
site: Portugal , in a client’s garden
This private theatre will be de-signed through the idea of pep-pers ghost which reflects images of landscape views to angled directions using different quali-ties of glasses and mirrors. The projected images can be appeared on a piece of a glass panel which is hung from the ceiling or any surfaces in a space.
Design 4. Artificial forest room
site: Tokyo, in a client’s bedroom
This settings will enable to create the same conditions as the envi-ronment in the photos in his bed room by filtering wind levels and tracing light intensity. I designed the unit that contains a room to in-stall the large fans with lighting to produce winds from the back and different sizes of apertures which digitally control the level of ligth and wind levels on the front side.

Design 2. Portable Photogram Studio
“Reproducing” the moment of the landscape- The photogram records of the landscape will be displayed in the internal space of the studio with the same amount of light exposure and shadow used for each capturing moment, by us-ing apertures installed in the light tunnel.

The changing moment is being controlled by the set of filtering systems of light intensity and wind levels in the space where people can inter-act with the environment.
Madrid workshop: Cosy Parametrics
The parametrics determine the openings in the structure which govern how light is introduced inside the room, and the wind level is controlled by the occupant’s interaction.
