The call to care…

• The Call to Life, the Call to Be – the dance and the song

• The Everything Seed, by Carole Martignacco

A Call from the Earth…

• “…life is one, and human well being is at its base interwoven with all life on earth and the rhythm of its systems. The suffering of any one part means that all creation groans, and rapid global climate change dramatically displays that suffering.”

A Call from Primary Custodians

‘Without land we are nothing…without land we are a lost people’ (Djon Mundine O.A.M)

A Call from ScienceWe have changed the very chemistry of the planet, we have altered the biosystem, we have changed the topography and even the geological structure of the planet, structures and functions that have taken hundreds of millions years and even billions of years to bring into existence.

Such an order of change in its nature and magnitude has never before entered into Earth history or into human consciousness.”

Fr Thomas Berry C.P

A Biblical Call…

“…all things were created through him and for him. Before anything was created he existed

and he holds all things in unity.” (Colossians 1: 16-17)

All creatures depend on you, to feed them throughout the year; you provide the food they

eat, with generous hand they satisfy their hunger. You turn your face away, they suffer, you stop their breath, they die and revert to dust. You give breath, fresh life begins, you

keep renewing the world.”

A Eucharistic Call…

• “The Eucharist is celebrated in order to offer ‘on the altar of the whole earth the world’s weak and suffering.’” (Pope John Paul II using the words of Tielhard de Chardin)

• “We need to appreciate all over again, that the whole universe is a sacrament, vivified by the presence of the Creator Spirit” (Sr Elizabeth Johnson RSJ)

A Call for Justice…

• “as one of the world’s biggest emitters per capita of greenhouse gases, Australian’s are directly implicated in harming the many innocent peoples of the Pacific whose ecological footprint ironically, is radically lighter than our own”

(Climate Change-Our Responsibility to Sustain God’s Earth, 2005)

Our Reason for Being Here…

• Catholic Earthcare’s Mandate and PLCFS

• Integrating the Head, Heart and Hands (ASSISI)

• What are we striving for and what is the role of the PLCFS?

• “true mysticism engages us in resistance of all that militates against growth towards wholeness at every level” (Ancestral Grace, Diarmuid O’Murchu)
