PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
The Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department will provide well-rounded, quality programs and
significant resources by anticipating and responding to customer needs, while enhancing the sense
of a close safe community for all current and future participants.

CODE OF CONDUCT
The City of Shrewsbury expects reasonable and appropriate behavior from those who visit and
use the facilities and participate in activities. The Parks & Recreation Department has established
a code of conduct to ensure safety and enjoyment and reserves the right to deny admission and/
or take disciplinary action against any individual violating the code of conduct. A violation
includes, but is not limited to, the use of obscene language or gestures, disorderly conduct, theft,
public intoxication, use of drugs, sexual misconduct, indecency, harassment, failure to cooperate
with staff, possession of weapons of any kind, on-compliance with established policies and rules,
any unlawful activity and any other behavior deemed offensive or unacceptable. Staff will enforce
this code of conduct.

Ackfeld Park Ackfeld Park consists of a total of 6.8 acres of land.
It is located at the Intersection of
Shrewsbury Avenue and Sutherland Ave. behind
the Police and Fire Station. The park has a ball field and two tennis
courts. A sand volleyball court is located east of
the aquatic center parking lot.
Brinkop Brinkop Park’s 3.4 acres are nestled in a beautiful residential area west of
the intersection at Nottingham and Laurella.
The park has a playground, ball field, multi-purpose court,
pavilion, and restroom facility.
Hartry Park Hartry Park is the
smallest park located in the City of Shrewsbury. The park is one acre of pure enjoyment and is located at 4100 Exeter
Ave. There is a playground and a
multi-purpose court for all to use.
Wehner Park Wehner Park is
Shrewsbury’s largest park consisting of 31.8 acres. This park contains three ball fields, one soccer
field, two pavilions, two playgrounds, and two tennis courts. Wehner Pavilion is located at
7600 Hazel Ave., and the Festival Site Pavilion is located at 5200 Lenox

Practices Taken to Promote Safety and Wellness in our Programs
• Face coverings must be worn by participants and staff at all times, unless eating or drinking
• The only exception to this is when staff and participants can maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet.
• Participants must provide their own face coverings.
• Participants must adhere to a strict hand washing and sanitation schedule.
• Staff will clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces before and after activities and between use by different individuals.
• Staff will take measures to promote a minimum 6 feet of physical distancing which may include seating assignments, outdoor activities, barriers and traffic flow patterns.
Program Protocol
Participants and staff displaying symptoms of illness during program will be removed from the group, and an approved adult will be required to pick up the individual within 30 minutes of notification. Par-ticipants will be supervised while waiting for pick up in a location separate from the rest of the group.
• A participant who has been exposed to, or in close contact with, someone confirmed with COVID-19 may only return to program after it has been 14 days from the time of exposure.
• Participants diagnosed with, or exhibiting symptoms of, COVID-19 including cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, may only return to program if: It has been 10 days from the resolve of symptoms, or Participant has re-turned two negative COVID-19 tests, or Participant can provide documentation from a physician di-agnosing them with something other than COVID-19.
• Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated on a case by case basis. For everyone’s safety, individuals that do not adhere to program rules and guidelines as stated above may be removed from the program.
Self-Health Check All participants are reminded to stay at home if they have signs or symptoms of COVID-19 OR have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Before you leave homes, can you answer “no” to the following questions?
If you have one or more “yes” responses, please stay home and help keep everyone safe and healthy. In the past 14 days, have you had contact with anyone with known COVID symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID? Have you had a fever in the last week (100.4 degrees or high-er)? Do you have a cough or difficulty breathing? Do you have any other COVID-related symptoms such as fatigue, body aches, sore throat, congestion, runny nose or nausea/vomiting?
Car Bingo Bingo with a little twist – from your car! When you get to the parking lot, we’ll assign you to a parking spot (at a safe social distance from other vehicles), and we will provide you with your disposable BINGO cards. You may also want to bring a clipboard, and don’t forget your dobbers/pens! Staff will be using a microphone and speakers outside. If you win, yell BINGO or honk your horn! Someone will be over to check the card and pass out the prize. Please wear a mask as you enter the parking lot, as well as when you win and need to claim a prize! Bring chairs, small tables, dinner, drinks, fun people, etc. Bathrooms will be available. You will set-up directly in front of your car only. and play Bingo from the comfort and safety of your small area! Bring the family and make an evening of it. Date: Tuesday October 20 - City Center Parking lot will open at 5:15pm, BINGO will be 6- 7:30pm. In case of rain, alternate date will be October 27. Fee: Resident $15/car; Non-Resident $18/ car.
Make a Difference Day This day serves as a call to action in the Shrewsbury/Webster Groves community. From yard work to food drives we will challenge ourselves to make a difference in someone else’s life. We invite Boy/Girl Scout Troops, high school groups, church groups and anyone who is looking to make a difference. Howl O Ween Photo Contest
Do you have a great photo of your furry friend in a costume? Submit the photo to the Parks
Department for a chance to win some prizes. Photos must be of dogs only.
Photos can be submitted through e-mail: [email protected] or you can drop off
a photo at the Parks and Rec desk by October 27th. There is no fee to enter. Please note,
photos will not be returned. Staff will vote on their favorites and winners will
be announced on October 28th.
The winning photo(s) will be posted on our Face-book page and posted on the City’s website.
Pumpkin Hunt Bring your kids to the Festival Pavilion for a “Pumpkin” Hunt. Kids will also be able to enjoy some fun crafts. “Pumpkins” (orange plastic eggs) with prizes and candy will be available for kids to collect. This event is free, but due to County re-strictions, pre-registration is required. Date: October 17 Time: 11am-12:30pm (Hunt begins at 11:30am) Ages: 1-9 Fee: Free
Car Trivia Night Trivia from your car. Questions will be geared towards adults. When you get to the parking lot, we’ll assign you to a parking spot (at a safe so-cial distance from other vehicles). Shrewsbury Holiday Bazaar
We are looking for vendors for our Holiday
Bazaar on December 12th. The fee is $20 for
each 6x8 spot, without a table, or $30 with a
table. Handmade vendors may sign up at
anytime. Direct sales venders may start to ap-
ply November 18th . Applications can be
found on our website and must be turned into
the City Center no later than November 30th.
Vendors will spread out through out the City
Center to ensure safe social distance for shop-
pers and vendors.

Santa Claus is coming to town! Join us for a
jolly good time at our Breakfast with Santa
event! We are joining forces with the
Shrewsbury Police and Fire Departments to
bring you a delicious hot breakfast and some
festive crafts. Each child will have the
opportunity to get their photo taken with
Santa too, so don’t forget your camera! Must
be pre-registered for this event and space is
limited. Due to covid you will need to register
for a specific time so we can be a safe social
distance.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
Get those carving knives ready for
Shrewsbury 1st annual Pumpkin Trail!
Carve your pumpkin at home then drop them
by the City Center. That evening we will
display then for everyone to drive by and
vote on your favorite! Pumpkin with the most
votes wins! Anyone wishing to carve
pumpkins must RSVP.

Candy Cane Hunt Get the kids ready for a visit from Santa by hunting for some candy canes. Kids will also be able to enjoy some fun crafts. Yoga - Level 1/Beginner’s Vinyasa A yoga class for those newer to yoga. Introducing the fundamental principles of alignment, breathwork and meditation. Bags League We will be holding a bags league at the City Center. Teams of 2 will compete against other teams in a 6 week long league. The Parks Department will provide the boards and the bags. Adult (21+) Recreational Basketball League Are you looking for a fun way to get some exer-cise in and play a sport you love? The Parks De-partment will be holding a six-week adult recrea-tional basketball league at the City Center. Gather your family and friends and get a team together for this new to Shrewsbury league. Open to Men’s, Women’s and Co-ed teams. Deadline is October 27 to register. REC level teams ONLY. Rules will be in place to ensure games stay at a recreational level.
