MOATED PALACES, PARKS AND GARDENS AND INTERESTING PERSONALITIES IN THE MÜNSTERLAND

Münster is a beautiful historical city with a hinterland full of surprises. Impressive Schloss Nordkirchen with its parks is one of the Münsterland’s most popular tourist attractions. In days gone by, the park of Wasserburg Hülshoff was a favourite with the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, who was born here.

SCHLOSS DRACHENBURG AND PARK AND KONRAD ADENAUER’S GARDENIN THE SIEBENGEBIRGE WALKERS’ PARADISE The Siebengebirge is doubtlessly one of Germany’s most beautiful regions for walking. There is much to discover in a relatively small space. Rhine romance, castles, fantastic views, parks and gardens and cosy restaurants right in the middle of nature. Small wonder that this is the most beautiful spot on the popular Rheinsteig walking trail.

GARDEN DESIGN AND ART IN NATURE AT SCHLOSS DYCK AND ON THE MUSEUM INSEL HOMBROICH

STATELY HOMES AND PALACES, PARKS AND TREASURES OF ART BETWEEN WASSERBURG ANHOLT AND THE KLEVE GARDEN LANDSCAPE

Wasserburg Anholt with its magnificent park in Isselburg is surely one of Westphalia’s most beautiful castle complexes. The direct surroundings, influenced by the vicinity to the Netherlands, also include Kleve with its impressive baroque landscape and the Museum Kurhaus Kleve. The famous Anholter Kräuterbuch (medieval book on herbs) forms an interesting link to Schloss Moyland and parks, where a fascinating symbiosis was created between art and nature.

RELAXING IN GRAND STYLE, MAGNIFICENT PARKS AND MONASTERIAL GARDENS

The founder of today’s Gräflicher Park, Count Caspar Heinrich von Sierstorpff, wanted to create a place of rural pleasure when he developed the spa centre. To this day one can enjoy to the full this 230-years tradition in Bad Driburg. Beside relaxation for body and soul, a visit to the impressive monastery complex in Dalheim or to the Rheder landscaped parks provides a harmonious and interesting diversion.

Bad Salzuflen

The region around Düsseldorf is a true treasure trove. As one of the Rhineland’s largest moated palaces, Schloss Dyck is situated on three islands in the middle of a 70 hectares park and garden landscape. The 200-year-old park of Prince Joseph, now restored, is complemented by a multitude of new gardens, different exhibitions in the palace, children’s programmes and a comprehensive programme of events. In its close vicinity is the Museum Insel Hombroich, a place where nature, art and architecture melt to become one.
