Commuter Lots

• There are approximately 1100 spaces in surface lots designated for commuters

• Another 1413 spaces in lots are designated for both commuters and resident students

• Y Lot (left) is the largest commuter lot, and I Lot is the second largest.

• As of October 4th, 3275 commuter parking stickers were sold to students this year.

• 3,245 resident parking stickers were given out at the beginning of this semester.

• W Lot, shared by commuters and residents, has the largest number of spaces used by commuters on any given day.

• There are also 711 spaces on campus that are available to anyone with a paid permit (residents, commuters, faculty.)

• North Hillside Road (pictured above) is lined with these free-for-all spaces, with shuttles running every 10-20 minutes to and from the heart of campus.

• Bright orange envelopes on windshields are one of the most common (and dreaded) sights around campus

No Mercy• During the 2010-11 school year,

parking tickets generated $890,853 in revenue.

• There is one enforcement officer on foot, and two in vehicles. They are each assigned specific areas of campus and visit each area as often as they can. There is no escape.

Faculty Lots• Three areas (1, 2, and 3)

• Area 1: Located closest to the center of campus; most expensive. – 380 spots, 400 permits given out this year

• Area 2: Farther out and less expensive – 1,880 spots, 2,686 permits given out this year

• Area 3: Free parking on the outskirts of campus – 317 spots, 303 permits given out

• Left: The parking lot between Graduate dorms and the Thomas Dodd center is no longer metered parking, but an Area 1 faculty lot.

• Street parking in the center of campus is all Area 1 parking

• Area 1 permit holders can park in areas 2 and 3. Area 2 permit holders can park in Area 3.

• Whitney Road (left), between Arjona and Monteith, is patrolled regularly, as many students—and some faculty—learn the hard way.
