BACKGROUND

Technology has been a major driver of Human DevelopmeHowever, the dissimilation of the technology and its benefit

always been uneven.

Most of the world’s cleverest designers

cater to the richest 10% of consumers, whileother 90% of the world waiting for theirbasic needs to get satisfied!

Many classes are still exclmarginalized and no tech

developed considering thand problems

PROJECTS

Our teams in Pilani and Goa campuses are involved in a number of

projects addressing the grassroots problems.

The aim of the project is to utilize waste

heat from a flame of gas stove and convertit into electricity using a thermoelectriceffect. This project is vey feasibleconsidering as much as 50% of heatproduced from stove is wasted whilecooking.

This machine is designed to ass

Self Help Groups and increase tproduction rates for manual pamaking. It is simple in design, mcheap readily available materiawood and can accommodate vabag-size

 ROPE PUMP (Pilani Team)

Cheap & Indigenous adsobased drinking water Pu(Pilani Team)

In this project we are looking falternatives for expansive purif

methods like activated carboare doing this through the use substances like rice husk, neemadsorbing the impurities. We pcome out with a DIY manual whbe used by any literate person this own water filter.

Bhaas Government School had a frequentproblem of hand pump damage. This

meant no water during school hours forkids . Parishodh is currently working ondeveloping a Rope Pump which is mucheasier to use, repair and manufacturewith better mechanical efficiency usingpedal power to eradicate this problem.

BIO GAS (Goa Team)

We are developing an economical andportable storage system for biogas (inmodular form) to be used for kitchen

purposes. This will provide a fuel solutionto a large section of the rural population, while making use of a renewable energysource

 AKASH GANGA (Pilani team)

The aim of this project is to devewireless monitoring network of rharvesting plants in Raila (A villa

Pilani) in collaboration with SustInnovations ltd. This consists of alevel measurement instrumentconnected to a wireless device thmicrocontroller and a databasemanagement network for the raiharvesting plants.

DHITI

• DHITI (Sanskrit for 'An Idea') provides such a platform for students, ppassionate individuals who aspire for technology to reach the grassroots

• For the event, we roll out certain problem statements collected from vOver a period of 2& half months, participants work on these problems asolutions that are efficient ,feasible and economical.

• Efforts are made by students and NGOs to implement on the field, sompromising solutions amongst all.

•Organized at BITS Pilani- Pilani Campus during technical festival APOG

• BHAGIRATH – is an event aiming at inviting technological solutions tosocial problems. It is a belief that technology can be a panacea for seat hand .It is a marriage of technology and cause. Technology for soca concept and Bhagirath planned to extend this to reality.

• Participants require knowledge of current technological developmensector and preferably have very non-conventional methods to attackproblem statements

• Organized at BITS Pilani- Goa campus during technical festival Quark

INTERNSHIPSStarted in 2012, the program provides internship opportunities for engineeringstudents at organizations working on finding innovative technical solutions tograss-root level problems. Students participating in the program normally workon a technical project at one of the collaborating organizations during theirsummer term (May – July), which normally involve engineering solutions forcommon-man problems

 Aim Of Organizing Internship Program

• The Parishodh Technical Internships aim to achieve the following

objectives :

1. Introduce motivated engineering students to grass-root level resand innovation being done at the collaborating organizationsparticipating in the program.

2. Involve students in finding engineering solutions to problems as

grass-root level.

3. Provide collaborating organizations with a talented pool of enginstudents that can create a difference to their respective projects

INTERNSHIPS : 2014

• Continuing the trend of last 3 years, this year too we would be org

technical summer internships, albeit on a much grander scale.

• We have many new collaborators in form of Rite Water SolutionsFirst, GNUS, Kisanraja, Vidya Help Line etc.

• We are expanding the number of colleges we contact through ‘Camambassador’ program.
