Please Watch Your Children at Play in the Mary’s Rosary Garden We often are finding the basin of the fountain in Mary’s Rosary Gar-den filled with plant material and stones from the pathway. We could be facing expensive repairs should the small stones fall into the bubbler tube or make their way into the pump. Unfortunately, it has happened before. Parents, please keep an eye on your children when they are in the Garden. Don’t let them go off to play in that area unattended, while you are conversing away from that area with family or friends. Your cooperation is important. Without it, hard decisions may have to be made about modifying certain ele-ments that make the Garden so attractive to all of our guests. .

From Our Pastor

Dear Parishioners,

It’s the “Graduation Season!” I take this opportunity to congratulate all of our young parishioners who are graduating at various levels of their formal education. Some of you will be moving on to new schools; others will begin a career in the business world, venture into community service, or enlist in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Know that I and your fellow parishioners are very proud of you, and promise our prayerful support as you approach the next phase of your life. God be with you always!

We, of course, are counting down the few days left before the open-ing night of our annual Summer Festival. Many of you have been working very hard to get us ready for this long-established and much anticipated event. The MMR Festival has two valuable goals: com-munity building (even beyond our parish) and fundraising for our be-loved church. These goals can only be accomplished with the help of many volunteers. If you have not yet signed up to assist with the Fes-tival, I ask that you kindly do so as soon as possible. Your generosity of time is greatly needed and sincerely appreciated.

Monsignor John Conway

Important Information During Church Renovations As previously announced, our parish church will undergo sanctuary ren-ovations and flooring replacement in the nave and narthex this sum-mer. Beginning with the 7:30 am Mass on Friday, June 17th, and throughout the 6 to 8 weeks of construction, all Masses (on week-days and weekends) and Baptisms will be celebrated in the gym of our Catholic Education Center. Below is a list of “adjustments” that are being made to accommodate your needs during this time of disruption. Ample handicap parking will be located (and clearly marked) in

the area between the soccer field and the gym kitchen. This area is where the basketball courts are. The handicap entrance will be on the side of the building closest to that parking area. Again, it will be marked. Handicap seating will be available near that en-trance.

There will be ample seating for everyone.

Confessions on Saturdays and after the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday will be heard in the Nurse’s Office just off the school lobby.

Regrettably, Liturgy of the Word with Children will be postponed during the weeks of renovation due to a lack of available space.

The school library will be made available for musicians’ warm-up prior to Mass.

Regrettably, the church building will be completely closed during construction. This is for safety reasons. Consequently, private visits will not be possible.

The annex will be in use for meetings and other parish activities.

Yes, the gym is air conditioned!

Also, a family who may need to schedule a Funeral Mass for a de-ceased loved one during this time period will have the option to hold the funeral in the same space where we will be celebrating Mass each day, or may arrange with the MMR Parish staff to have the funeral take place in another church. In the latter case, the priests of MMR would be most willing to help with such plans and to preside at the funeral.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during the weeks of construction! As PENNDOT often states at their construction sites, it will be “temporary inconvenience for permanent improvement.”

Father’s Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards Available Father’s Day is June 19th. Availa-ble at church, as well as in our Parish Office , are beautiful cards for this occasion. We will remem-ber your submitted intentions for living and deceased fathers at all of the Masses offered on Father’s Day weekend and throughout the month of June. Your intentions will be placed at the altar. Please pick up a packet marked “Father’s Day Spiritual Bouquet”, fill out the outer envelope, and return it with your free-will offering.

Support a Local Missionary Outreach A group of Lansdale Catholic High School Alumni will be traveling to Costa Rica during the last week of June 2016. They will be engaged in Christian service through work projects, visiting the needy and handicapped of the area, and extending the healing ministry of Jesus through other forms of out-reach. The whole experience is wrapped in prayer and fellow-ship. This group will be working with the Bailey Family, who are full-time missionaries with Family Missions Company - see more at: http://www.baileyfamilymissions.blogspot.com/. The Bailey Family is ask-ing for donations toward the mis-sion’s needs as well as their fami-ly’s needs. If you are interested in donating clothing, school supplies or providing funding toward the purchase of needed items, please contact George Mussoline at 215-290-3389 or email [email protected].

REMINDER Mass on June 25th

will be at 4:15 PM.

A Special Person Comes Home! On the Feast of St. Nicholas the kindergarten students filled Christ-mas stockings with toiletry items that were collected here at school. With great care, these stockings were sent to Afghanistan to sol-diers who were deployed in ser-vice to our country. Well, the kin-dergarten students had a wonder-ful surprise the other day. One of their adopted soldiers came to

visit the children. The students were very interested to learn about a sol-dier’s life in Afghanistan, and were very happy to learn that the Christ-mas stockings were well received by the troops.

Parish Nurse Ministry News Seasonal allergies affect millions of people young and old each year. Here are some helpful tips from The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America to decrease allergens in your environment. Make sure to wash your hands and your face especially before bed. Allergens from your hands and face can col-lect on your pillow. Take off your shoes when you come in the house to decrease the amount of pollen tracked inside. Remember to close windows and doors during high pollen days, and switch out A/C filters as recommended. Finally check the pollen count to better help plan your daily outdoor activi-ties. Staying hydrated is important es-pecially during the summer months. To spice up your daily intake of water try adding lemon slices. According to nutritional specialist Dr. Axe, adding lemon slices to your water also provides benefits for the body. Lemons can help ease an upset stomach and relieve indigestion. Lemons have vitamin C which is important for the immune system and healthy cells. The anti-oxidants in lemons can help to reju-venate the skin and help with colla-gen production. Lemons also con-tain pectin which is a fiber that is found in fruit. Pectin helps the body feel full longer. This can help with weight loss or maintenance. So why not add a few slices and enjoy!

The 5th Annual Fortnight for Free-dom is being observed national-ly June 21st to July 4th and spon-sored by the United States Confer-ence of Catholic Bishops. The initi-ative calls Catholics from across the country to stand united in de-fense of our first, most cherished liberty—that of religious freedom. Locally, our observance will be parish-based and feature various modes of participation at the dis-cretion of the pastor. Archbishop Chaput will be the principal celebrant and homilist at a Mass for Religious Freedom at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul immediately fol-lowing a Holy Hour presided over by Father Dennis Gill, Rector of Cathedral Basilica. Confessions will also be heard beginning at 5:30 pm. All are welcome to at-tend.

Sunday, June 26, 2016 5:30 pm (Holy Hour)

6:30 pm (Mass)

In addition to the Mass and Holy Hour on June 26th, all are invited to venerate the relics of two saints who exemplified courage, convic-tion, and faith in the face of per-secution by political power. Saint Thomas More and Saint John Fish-er were prominent 16th century Englishmen who stood against King Henry VIII’s attempted supremacy over the Catholic Church, accept-ing martyrdom instead of aban-doning their faith. Come learn more about the lives of these saints, seek their intercession, and be inspired by their example. Prior to the veneration of the rel-ics, Auxiliary Bishop John J. McIn-tyre will be the principal celebrant and homilist at the Anticipated Mass on Saturday, June 25th.
