FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2018 There will be a Welcome Mass of and First Session for Parents and children on Wednesday 17th January 6pm at the Holy Spirit Church. Please make sure you attend.

If you would like to pray for a child who will be making their First Holy Communion next year on 5th May 2018 then a Prayer Sponsor list is available in the porch area of the church. Please put your name and address down clearly on the form next to the child you would like to sponsor.

Appeal for Accomodation An Italian Catholic’Patrizio Spadoni’ is looking for accommodation to rent in the local area, close to the church .He is a Secular Discalced Carmelite (OCDS ) of the Florentine Community in Italy and has been attending the OCDS Community at Boars Hill in Oxford for three years.

Patrizio will be starting work in Nottingham from 7 January for 6 months and only for 12 hours a week.

Patrizio describes himself as a very quiet, clean and tidy person and spends his my spare time praying, reading, chatting on Skype with my family in Italy.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE Parents who have also had their child Baptised this year at The Holy Spirit and Our Lady of Grace are invited to attend the ‘Celebration of Life Service’ on Sunday 7th January 3pm at The Holy Spirit Church.

CONFIRMATION PROGRAMME 2018 If your son or daughter is in year 7 or above and would like to be confirmed next year, then Enrolment Forms for the Confirmation Programme will be available to download from the Holy Spirit website from the weekend of 13th/14th January, the weekend after printed forms will be available at the back of church.

THE CONFIRMATION BRIARS RETREAT

Parental Consent Forms for The Briars Confirmation Retreat Weekend which next year will be from Friday 23rd March - Sunday 25th March 2019 will also be available. Please note; that Candidates are actively encouraged to attend the Confirmation Weekend at the Briars as part of The Confirmation Programme.

Both forms must be completed to enrol on the programme and handed to Fr. Michael or Fr. John during the weekend of Enrolment Masses 10/11 February 2018.

We are also looking for parish adult volunteers to accompany our young people on their Confirmation Retreat Weekend. All volunteers must complete an enhanced DBS check.

THE HOLY SPIRIT ROSARY GROUP

We will resume the normal time of 7pm on Wednesdays for the Rosary. It takes less than 30 minutes, including a hymn the Holy Spirit and a final hymn to Our Lady. All are welcome. Please note that we will not be meeting on Wednesday 27 December.

PROMISE OF GRACES FOR SALVATION

At Fatima, Our Lady promised to assist, at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, re-ceive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep her company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to her. If you would like to join the First Saturdays group for any five, consecutive first Saturdays during the year to do this devotion, please join us for the 9.15 Mass on the day. Confession is available after Mass, followed by the Ro-sary and 15 minutes of silent meditation time. The next first Saturday is on 6 January 2018. A handout of the Rosary will be provided.
