` eSt. Peter Roman Catholic Church Mission Statement
Our mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by living
the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and
Service as taught by the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter
Parish is a community of dedicated Catholics centered on
the Eucharist, which is the source and the summit of all that
we do and hope to become. Approved August 19, 2014
PARISH SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass is central to who we are and what we do. Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass
times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To receive formation for First Holy Communion,
contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the
Sacrament of Confession is where we come into contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered.
If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new
Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact
the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the
baby’s due date so that there is enough time to complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered,
participating members of the Parish Family. Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors
receive a Baptismal Packet which must be
completed and received before attendance at a
Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A
Baptismal date is determined after all Church requirements are satisfied.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the
Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union
to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the
Church and the world. Couples discerning the vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for
their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we
receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment.
Also, contact the church office before you contact anyone else in making funeral
arrangements. We are here to guide you through that
most difficult time.

FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR OCTOBER WORSHIP: We pray for renewed devotion to Our Blessed Mother by all of our parishioners in this month dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary
(Feast Day October 7th). FAITH FORMATION: May our young parents and their children find support from each other and each of us as they seek to nurture and
witness to their Catholic Faith. EVANGELIZATION: As we observe “World Mission Sunday” on October 22nd, let us pray to be renewed in our Faith in Christ Jesus who
has ‘first loved us’ and Who has called us to “follow Me” so that as a parish we may live every day with love and zeal as members of His Church. SOCIAL JUSTICE: October is dedicated as “Respect for Life Month” (Respect for Life Sunday is October 1st). Pray for an end to Abortion,
Euthanasia, Capital Punishment, Artificial Birth Control and all forms of disrespect of life, including the neglect of the poor, in our nation and world. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: Let us pray in thanksgiving to God for our generous benefactors and also God's blessings upon all who
are performing the great work of building and repairing our facilities.
SAINT PETER ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY OCTOBER 1, 2017
When battered by life's storms, or immersed in a dense fog of suffering and uncertainty, we may feel alone and unequipped to handle the circumstances. Yet with words that echo through thousands of years into the corners of our hearts, the Lord says to us, "Do not fear: I am with you" (Isaiah 41:10). He speaks these words not as one who merely observes our pain, but as one who experienced immense suffering. And the very wounds that bear witness to his suffering indicate the essence of our identity and worth: we are loved by God. Reflecting on the healed wounds of the Risen Christ, we see that even our most difficult trials can be the place where God manifests his victory. He makes all things beautiful. He makes all things new. He is always with us. Jesus promised this when he gave the disciples the same mission he gives to each of us: Go. Go be my hands and feet to a world enslaved by fear. Go to the woman who is unexpectedly pregnant and fears the future. Go to your friend who fears reprisal at work because he takes a stand for the protection of human life. Go to your aging parent in failing health who fears being a burden. And go to others, too, for their support. We don't need to have everything figured out. We can simply follow the guidance of Our Blessed Mother, the first disciple: "Do whatever he tells you" (John 2:5). Walk with each other. Do not be afraid to embrace God's gift of life. Whatever storms or trials we face, we are not alone. He is with us.
"Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20). ~www.usccb.org
HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR OCTOBER

FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH - October 7th is the First Saturday of the month in honor of our Blessed Mother. The Mass will be celebrated at 7:00am.
OCTOBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
The month of October is traditionally devoted to the Most
Holy Rosary. During the month of October, before all
Masses, we will be praying the Rosary and Litany of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. All are encouraged to join us in prayer
to our Blessed Mother!
“When you say your Rosary, the angels rejoice, the Blessed Trinity delights in it, my Son finds joy in it too, and I myself am happier than you can possibly guess. After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, there is nothing in the Church that I love as much as the Rosary.” ~Our Lady to Blessed Alan De La Roche
October 7th - Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary
OCTOBER IS PRO-LIFE MONTH
PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS
I hold the keys to death. ~Rev 1:18 REFLECTION: The alternative to accepting death is to try to control it by giving ourselves the authority to take life. Hence, we have abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia. Just take control. Eliminate suffering by eliminating the person. “Euthanasia” is killing. As such, it contradicts the fact that God is God.
PRAYER: Lord, You are in control of my life, my suffering, and my death. May I never forget that.

UPDATING BISHOPS’ &
PRIESTS’ COATS OF ARMS
St. Peter has a tradition of honoring past bishops and pastors since the original commissioning of the coats of arms for the founding families of our parish. Fr. Ledoux began researching, in 2015, the whereabouts of the original woodcarver commissioned by Msgr. Wassler only to discover that he had passed away some 10 years earlier. Following a few months’ interval Fr. Ledoux began researching for a possible apprentice who might have been trained by the original woodcarver, Mr. Ludwig Kienenger. Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that Mr. Kienenger had, in fact, worked with and trained a woodcarver from Texas, Doug Oliver. In the Fall of 2016, Fr. Ledoux began a conversation with Mr. Oliver to complete the Coats of Arms for the bishops since Bishop Frey and pastors since Fr. Nunez. Currently Coats of Arms are being prepared for Bishops Harry Flynn, Edward O'Donnell, Michael Jarrell and current Bishop Douglas Deshotel and previous pastors, Fr. Gregory Downs, Fr. Bill Melancon and current pastor Fr. Mark Ledoux. The legacy of the Coats of Arms here at St. Peter is a true treasure and extremely unique as these artistic pew ends have not been found to exist in any other churches in Louisiana or anywhere in the southern United States on such a large scale. In the process of doing the major repairs to St. Peter Church, Fr. Ledoux has commissioned Mr. Oliver to finish Coats of Arms for the previous bishops and pastors and to have them installed for the blessing and rededication of the church. In order to help defray the cost of the new Coats of Arms, Fr. Ledoux is asking that each weekend in the month of October everyone from St. Peter Parish give $5 -$10 each week in addition to what you have already been giving to the offertory collection. In so doing the new Coats of Arms would then be a gift from ALL St. Peter parishioners in honor of and showing appreciation and love for the generous service of all the bishops and priests who have served the spiritual needs of St. Peter Parish.
ALTAR SOCIETY DUES Altar Society dues ($1) will be collected at the front door of the hall before all Masses this weekend. You may also mail your dues to Melinda Devillier, 104 Red Barn Dr., Carencro 70520.
Dues and donations are used for purchasing altar linens.
Thank you for your support!

Officers and all CDA members will walk in a procession at the 10:00am Mass and sit together as the Proclamation is read. All CDA members, active or inactive, are invited to participate.

BUILDING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER
NOVENA TO ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX Memorial – October 1st
St. Therese, you said: “The Creator of the universe awaits the prayer of one poor little soul to save a multitude of others.” Offer to God the prayers of all in the Church as they strive to respond to the requests of Our Lady at Fatima. St. Therese, you promised: “After my death I will let fall a shower of roses.” Shower on the peoples of the world the grace to repent of their sins, and to live according to God’s law, so as to be worthy of the peace Our Lady promised. St. Therese, you said: “The treasures of the mother belong to her child.” Help all families to accept and love the treasure of the Rosary and to pray it together with love and devotion. St. Therese, you said: “All my strength lies in prayer and sacrifice.” Help all who suffer, especially the sick, the poor, the distressed and sorrowful, to understand the value of their mysterious and indispensable role in the salvation of the world. St. Therese, you said: “I want to give all to Jesus.” Intercede for those being called to the priesthood or consecrated life that, inspired by your example, they will offer themselves in service to Jesus and His Church. St. Therese, you assured us: “Great is the power of prayer. It is like a queen who has free access to the King and is able to obtain as much as she requests.” Intercede with Jesus, your King, to obtain the favors we ask, especially (mention your intentions). Amen.

ROSARY FOR PEACE The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
