PARENTS: IPAD INFORMATION Presented by Mill Creek Intermediate iTeam

THIS YEAR: YOUR STUDENT

WILL HAVE ACCESS TO AN IPAD AS WE INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGY INTO OUR CLASSROOM LEARNING TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGY SKILLS.

Students will be given the opportunity to use many different learning apps to showcase their understanding of concepts.

CONTRACT➤ Your student will bring home

an iPad contract for you to review. In this contract, it will state the rules for the acceptable use of the iPad.

➤ If you and your student sign the contract, your student MAY be able to bring the iPad home with them (AT TEACHER DISCRETION- teachers may or may not send home the iPad depending on their policies for homework).

CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS➤Students nor Parents will change the Apple

ID or download Apps at home.➤ iPads are to be used

for Instructional purposes ONLY.

➤ iPads must come back fully charged to school.

➤No inappropriate use of Social Media.➤ iPads may be inspected at any

time by school administration. ➤Administrators reserve the right to deny

permission to take home devices.➤Students will report to school officials any

inappropriate communications.

CARE OF THE IPAD➤ 2 Hands on the device at all

times.

➤ iPad should be used while sitting down.

➤ Clean Hands when using the iPad.

➤ No Food or Drink near the iPad.

➤ Keep the case on the iPad.

➤ Don’t loan out your iPad.

DAMAGED IPADS➤ Accidents Happen… If your iPad is damaged, report it. The

first time there will be no fee if the damage is determined to be accidental.

➤ Repeated damages may result in fees for repairs and parts.

➤ If iPad is intentionally damaged, you will be charged for repairs, parts and/or replacement.

➤ If you damage the AC adapter, a $25.00 fee will be charged and for carrying cases $50.00 fee.

LOST OR STOLEN IPADS

Report lost/stolen iPad immediately to school official. A replacement cost will be charged to you.

If the iPad has been lost or stolen, you must file a report with local law enforcement and turn the report into the school administration.

Lost and stolen iPads will be locked down and will be unusable.

If and when the iPad has been found, a refund will be granted when the device has been returned to school administration.

$25.00 fee for lost or stolen AC Adapters.

$50.00 fee for lost or stolen carrying cases.

CYBERBULLYING➤ Cyberbullying is the use of

technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. By definition, it occurs among young people. When an adult is involved, it may meet the definition of cyber-harassment or cyberstalking, a crime that can have legal consequences and involve jail time.

➤ Cyberbullying is not tolerated by Berkeley County Schools.

➤ If cyberbullying is occurring, please print off the incidents and tell school officials for it to be addressed.

CYBERBULLYING TIPS

If you receive messages that are harassing or threatening in nature, report it to an adult.

Don’t respond to the message.

Print the message off to turn into school officials.

Block the sender from your devices.
