ards, state and local assessments, Title I, and how you
can support learning.

As a partner in your child’s education, your input on Eva
Turner’s School Improvement Plan, Home School Com-
pact, Parent Involvement Plan, the Title I parent in-
volvement budget and how our staff can work with
parents as equal partners is important to our success.
You can share your ideas by participating on the School
Improvement Team, Principal Advisory Collaboration
Committee and/or completing parent surveys.
If you would like a copy of the School Involvement Plan
or have any questions or comments about any of the
documents, please contact your Parent Liaison,
Mrs. Nicole Shannon, at 301-753-2087 or
Eva Turner Elementary accepts the Charles County
Public School’s Parent Involvement Rules and has
aligned its school-level Parent Involvement Plan
accordingly.

Parents as Partners
We believe that parents play an important role in their
child’s learning. Therefore, we provide materials and
opportunities for parents to be involved. If you are inter-
ested in volunteering, please call or email Mrs. Nicole

Community Partners
Eva Turner Elementary partners with the following programs to
increase family involvement by coordinating and integrating
outreach, training opportunities, and resources for the school
community:
Judy Center-Provides services for children ages birth
through kindergarten and their families
Sherriff’s Department- volunteers, camp opportunities,
incentives and mentors
Chick-Fil-A-Provides resources to promote family involve-
ment and student achievement
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church & CC Southern MD– Provides
funds and resources to families in need during Christmas
Walmart- Back to school supplies and incentives for stu-
dents and teachers
Title I Office-Provides support and guidance for Title I pro-
gram
Office Depot- Back to school supplies for school
As a school, we will share the responsibility to improve
academic achievement and achieve the state’s high stand-
ards in the following ways:
Listening and showing respect to parents and students
Maintaining open communication with parents and stu-
dents on academic achievement
Setting high expectations for our students
Providing high quality and well planned instruction
Providing encouragement
Demonstrating professional behavior and being positive
role models
Providing information through the agenda book
Fairly enforcing school and class rules
Creating a welcoming, positive and safe learning envi-
ronment
Providing opportunities for parent/teacher conferences
Providing progress reports
Providing parents with contact information
Providing parents a variety of opportunities to be in-
volved in their child’s education such as Title I academic
nights, family nights, parent workshops, PTO events and
our Three’s For Me. Volunteer program.Parent Confer-
ences for the County will be held on October 14, 2019
from 8:45 am-3:45 pm
Parents
As parent or guardian, we will support our children’s learning
in the following ways:
Making sure homework is completed and returned
Making sure my child comes on time and regularly
Keeping in contact with teachers and keeping communication
open
Keeping communication open with my child by talking with
them on a daily basis
Making sure my child understands and follows school rules
Encouraging my child
Making sure my child gets plenty of sleep
Providing a quiet area for homework
Reviewing and signing my child’s agenda book
Returning school papers in a timely manner
Volunteering when possible
Being respectful to school staff
Teaching child to be respectful to school staff, other students,
and bus drivers
Students
As students, we will share the responsibility to improve our
academic achievement by:
Setting aside time every day to complete homework
Uphold the 3 R’s (Be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn
because everyone has a Right to Learn)
Paying attention in class and completing all assigned classwork
Being respectful of my classmates and teachers
Always doing my best
Being responsible for doing my homework
Getting ready for school on time and arriving prepared

Read grade level text with fluency
Retell and Summarize a story- beginning, mid-dle, end (written and verbal)
Answer comprehension questions by identifying details in a text
Math
Mastery of division, multiplication, addition and subtraction facts
Addition and Subtraction with decimals, frac-tions (all operations)
Writing
Write a paragraph with a topic sentence and five complete sentences
Use proper grammar, punctuation and conven-tional spelling
Write a narrative and an informational piece each quarter

Science Fair Project

Daily Home Responsibility
Complete homework Monday-Thursday
Check student agenda and Turner folders and agenda books
Read and practice math facts
