YOUTH PROGRAMS / COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Community Halloween Party—Monday, October 23 (4:30-6:30 p.m.) This event will be held in the OFHS Wrestling Gym and is sponsored by the OFHS Music Department and area businesses for chil-dren preschool through grade 6. Enjoy over 50 games created by the OFHS music students! Admission is $2.00 per person at the door. Donations of canned food items will be accepted for Kingdom Come Food Pantry. A parade of costumes begins at 5:30 p.m.

Ceramics Class Offered: Need some "me" time or some bonding time with your child? Come to Oconto Falls Elementary School for a fun “ART” evening! The next event is Tuesday, October 24th. Ceramic projects have been ordered but there are still some items available. Register now or come to the OFES art room next Tuesday between 4:00-8:00 p.m. and see what is available! Choose the glaze colors and designs you would like to add to a ceramic piece. Once fired, the glazed items will be available to pick up the following week. Hoops Club Opening Night Meeting will be held Tuesday, October 24th at 6:30pm in the High School Gymnasium. Registration for the 2017-2018 basketball season is now open!! The Hoops Club program is available for students in grades 3-8. Registrations will only be accepted online via our Oconto Falls Hoops Club website (www.ocontofallshoops.com). Registration in-formation can be found on the website under the “registration” tab. This year’s registration fees are: $40- 1 child, $65- 2 children per family, $75- 3+ children per family.

Student in grades K-5 are also invited to attend our Oconto Falls skills camp on Saturday mornings. This camp begins Saturday, October 28. Students in K-5 will also need to register to attend this FREE camp. Registrations can also be completed via the Ocon-to Falls Hoops Club website.

NOTE: All registrations for student athletes K-8 need to be completed and paid, if applicable, by October 28 or they will be unable to participate in the skills camp program or any scheduled practices with their coaches/teams, until this request has been fulfilled.

Save Your “POP TABS” for a GREAT Cause! A kindergarten student in Portage, Wisconsin, is attempting to set a Guinness World Record on behalf of her late broth-er. She is attempting to collect the most pop tabs in a year. She is also planning on donating them to the Ronald McDonald House when she is done. We believe this is a great cause and we will be donating the pop tabs we collect through January 12, 2018. Help A Hero - November 1 - 11, 2017 Oconto Falls Elementary School is having a competition to collect items for our troops. We will be taking donations that will be sent to our troops making their holidays a little brighter. Please send any items listed below to school with your student. Items will be collected in their class room. All classes that collect at least 50 requested items will earn an extra recess!

We are collecting: Pre-paid phone cards Foot warmers New knit hats Hand warmers Dental Floss Lip balm Tea bags Individual water flavor packets Individual instant coffee packets DESTINATION IMAGINATION - Register by Thursday, October 26 Destination Imagination (D.I.) is the world’s largest problem solving program for young people in elementary school through col-lege. D.I. emphasizes important qualities like creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills. Students in 5K through grade 5 are eligible to participate. This is a 12-15 week commitment and teams generally meet 2X per week.

Students who are interested in being considered for a team are asked to complete a participation form and return it to the school office by Thursday, October 26. Participation forms are available in the school office.

Wisconsin Singers perform on October 27! Mark your calendar for Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m. when the UW-Madison Wisconsin Singers celebrate 50 years of making music and perform in the Falls Area Performing Arts Center! The Opening Act for the event will feature our very own students in ENCORE! In addition, our students will be singing and dancing to the selection "Ease on Down the Road" WITH the Wisconsin Singers! Trick or Treating hours for the City of Oconto Falls will be 4pm-6pm on Tuesday October 31st. Panther Pride Association Fundraiser—November 10 The Panther Pride Association (PPA) invites you to purchase 1 of only 250 tickets to support their 7th annual fundraising event. This event is being held on Friday, November 10, at Romy’s Holiday Inn Res-taurant, 9600 Hwy G, Kelly Lake. A $50 event ticket will entitle you to one entry into the cash raffle, dinner for 2 featuring Romy’s chicken & tips, free beer and soda, and music from 8:00 until midnight. The proceeds of this event directly benefit our student ath-letes and their activities. Tickets can be purchased at the Oconto Falls School District office.

High School Drama Team Presents: “THE DISTRACTED SCHOLAR’S GUIDE TO LITERATURE and DRAMA” On November 10th at 7 p.m., the OFHS Drama Team will perform “The Distracted Scholar’s Guide to Literature and Drama,” a his-torical comedy in one act by Peter Bloedel at the Falls Area Performing Arts Center. They also will have a spaghetti dinner fundrais-er prior to the show - 5:00-6:45 p.m. in the High School Commons. Tickets are available at the door and cost $8.00 for the dinner and show, $5 for the show only. “The Distracted Scholar’s Guide to Literature and Drama” is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

Family and Friends CPR - A Free American Heart Association Course Learn lifesaving CPR skills in one evening. Learn skills in CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in adults, children, and infants. These simple lifesaving skills are easy to learn. The class is open to adults and children 12 years and older and will be held at St. Clare Memorial Hospital from 6-9 pm on November 13.
