Accessing and Logging in to the Parent Viewer
To access the parent viewer, type the following address in your browser address space:
https://merrillville.k12datamine.com
When the login screen opens, type your username and password. Remember: usernames are not case
sensitive, but passwords are case sensitive (capital letters should be typed as capitals and lower case
as lower case) For example: if the password is ELEPHANT – it may not be typed elephant.
After typing your username and password, click Login.

After you have typed your username and password and clicked Login, the following page will open.
At any time if you wish to log out, click the “padlock” in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
To view attendance, discipline, grades, progress report and schedule, click Trends.

This is the trends page. It shows the student’s quarterly and semester grades, daily grades, schedule,
attendance and discipline history.
Viewing Grades
To view your student’s grades, click the gold icon under Grades
This will show a grade summary for each class/subject by grading period.
Remember to click Close This Window to return to the Trends page

Viewing Daily Grades To view your student’s daily grades, click the green icon under Daily Grades.
You will see the following security alert box, asking if you wish to
display the information. Click Yes.
Because you are linking to the teacher’s live grade book, there may
be a short delay before the grade book page displays. The following page will display, showing your
student’s grade summary for each quarter by subject.

To view individual daily grades by subject, select
the subject (Class)
Report (Student Assignments)
Marking period.
Then click Get Report
The following page will
display, showing the
student’s assignments for
that class, the grade
received and a summary of
the final grade to this point
in the grading period.
To return to the Trends page, click:

Viewing the Student Schedule
To view your student’s daily schedule for the year, click the red schedule icon.
The schedule will display in a separate window. Click the Print icon to print a copy of the schedule.
Click Close this Window to return to Trends.

Year to Date and End of the Year Attendance
These are basically the same. Click on either number to display your student’s attendance for this school
year in each class.
Please note that the attendance summary includes absences not counted toward state attendance, such
as doctor’s appointments and tardies.
Click Close this Window to return to Trends.

Viewing Discipline
To view your student’s discipline history, click either the number under Year to Date Discipline or End
of Year Discipline.

Viewing Student Assessments
To view your student’s ISTEP and NWEA tests, click Assessments on the top menu bar
The following page will open.

Use the dropdown menus to the left to select ISTEP or NWEA, school year, sub-test and measure.
Test type Test Year
SubTest Measure
To view a breakdown of the graphed
information, select Standard IP under
Measure.
If you lay your
cursor over a bar,
you will see what
the test is and the student’s score.

Comparing Student Scores with Corporation and School Averages
To see how your student did on each test relative to the Corporation and the student’s home school,
check the Show Averages box.
The chart now displays first the Corporation average for the test, then the school average and finally the
student
average.

Surveys
Click on the Surveys link on the menu bar.
The survey section allows parents, teachers and students to contribute survey information, with results
stored separately so that data can be charted and analyzed. Surveys information can also be used to

Create Learning Centers
Motivate and Inspire Teaching and Learning
Create Interest Groups
Connect Students to School Activities
Differentiate Instruction
And Much More!
Create Learning Contracts

View Interests
Click View Interests to see how your student responded to the Interests survey.
View Goals
Click View Goals to see how your student answered the goals questions
Click one of the arrows or
“Here’s how I rate…” to see how
your student answered the
questions.

Enter Interests – Enter Goals – Enter Study Habits
Parents and students can enter information into the surveys by
clicking the Enter Interest, Goals and Study Habits buttons.
The survey will open in a separate window.
Click the drop down
arrow to select an
answer.
Click Next Question to answer the
next question in the survey
To view all questions in the survey,
Click Show All questions

You can answer all the questions in the survey without having to click the Next Question tab.
When you
have completed the survey, click
Save & Close at the bottom of the
survey.
Note: If you do not complete the
survey, your answers will not be preserved.
You must take the survey again from the
beginning.
