independence and confidence.

On a horse or in a pool nobody judges me as they can’t see my disability.

I would like to get every able bodied person to spend an hour in a wheelchair (they can borrow mine) and realise how difficult it is to just do basic simple tasks.‖

Julie is now at a very exciting point

in her journey as she prepares for

international competitions .

Training is in full swing and every

day Julie is getting stronger and

fitter to achieve her goal with the

clock counting down to 2012 and

the 2016 adventure as well.

Julie Daly represented the England

team at the Para Home

International as well as competing

in able bodied competitions where

she has started at the first level

and worked her way through to

advanced dressage and FEI Para

tests.

Julie won the CTR Magazine

Championship class with Mercy and

has started to her campaign with

the talented Angel.

― After I broke my back I was only able to look from my bed and see my horses.

I wanted to be out there with them

and I knew I had to learn to walk and ride again!

In February 2010 I learnt to walk again and got straight back on a horse.

I just wanted to walk, then I wanted to trot, canter and piaffe! I am an all or nothing kind of girl!

My positivity comes from having no other acceptable choice.

I was not prepared to spend the rest of my life in bed, daytime TV is just NOT that good!

To loose your ability to move is devastating, you lose your dignity,

TRAINING FOR THE TOP

James de Mountfort @

Personally Trained, trains the

Red Bull F1 Team for success

from the head office in

Milton Keynes.

When they met Julie had

very weak core muscles,

always walked with a stick

and had trouble getting up a

flight of stairs. We are

working on strength and

dexterity as well as eye

coordination drills and

quicker reaction times.

We both

support

the charity

―Wings For

Life” which

is

developing

cutting

edge

research in

spinal cord

injuries.

Stefaan Vossen @ Core

Physiatry, specialises in

neuro-rehabilitation and

spinal manipulative

techniques and as a

chiropractor completed a

BSc and an MSc with the

University of Portsmouth.

Julie has twice weekly

treatments with Stefaan and

credit’s him with reducing

her general pain levels in a

handful of treatments and

keeping her body balanced

during the daily pressure of

riding three horses daily.

Mr. Vossen’s team operates

clinics in Warwick and

London.

Lee

Pearson

MBE has

won 9

gold

medals

at 3

Paralym-

pic

games as

is the most successful

Paralympian rider in the

world.

Lee started to train Julie and

her horses in August 2011

after seeing the fast pro-

gress she had made over a 6

month period.

―Julie is a bright, determined

individual and telling her she

can’t achieve something is

really not an option!

She has over come so much

and is a great inspiration to

others.‖

Whittlebury Hall

When you are strengthening

your body after a major

accident it is best to do your

rehabilitation exercises in a

swimming pool with

supervision.

Whittlebury Hall has very

kindly sponsored Julie and

allows her trainers to over

see her exercises while she

uses their swimming pool and

hydro spa to strengthen her

muscles in their Leisure Spa.

―I recently had a lesson with my trainer the Paralympian Lee Pearson

and he was trying to explain half pass to me, because of the

neurological damage there are areas of my body I can’t feel so my

brain does not action them with any coordination.

I just could not get my brain and my body to work it out. He eventually

gave up trying to explain in a correct technical way and told me to ride

―quarters in on a diagonal line‖ I did it perfectly it was a very funny

yet poignant moment– there is always a way!

I am blessed that I can walk, I am blessed that I have wonderful

horses which look after me and people who support me. I count those

blessings every single day.‖

“PROUD TO BE PARA

Instead of watching her

dreams slip away she set her

sights on the impossible……..to

ride at the London Para

Olympics.

Julie is entirely self funding and

is looking for a corporate sponsor

which is socially responsible and

would be interested in supporting

a disabled rider who believes that

any physical weakness neither

stops you from achieving your

goals nor the

lifestyle you wish to

enjoy.

Julie has a strong

network and great

Julie herself faces a tough

daily training regime to help

her build the strength and

stamina needed to fulfill her

dream of performing on the

World Class Para stage.

Julie had always had the

ambition and drive to

succeed in business, now

Julie was challenged by the

need to push for a new and

different set of goals.

I AM PREPARING FOR THE

IMPOSSIBLE!

media coverage in the general

equine press and on social media

networks. Julie would be able to

promote your products on the

International Para stage as well

as to the wider community.

Julie is passionate that a

disability should not impact on

lifestyle and she continues to

follow fashion both at home, out

and about and when competing at

shows.

Julie dresses with the same

flamboyant style as she did

before her accident.

Julie would be a good ambassador

for your company and would work

closely and conscientiously with

your PR & Marketing Team to

promote your products.

Julie is comfortable at photo

shoots and is photogenic as well

as glamorous, Julie's horses like

to be in on the action as well!
