All about Paraguay Paraguay is AMAZING! Most everyone speaks more than one language. However, there are many more interesting facts than just that! First, it is one of two landlocked countries in Latin America! It is bordered by Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Its capital is Asuncion. The Paraguay River divides the country into 2 sections. Most everyone who lives in the countryside in Paraguay speaks Guarani. Paraguay is famous for their “soup” which was made on accident, there beautiful spider web lace, and their brisk delicious tea. In Paraguay, many of the people live in poverty. Sadly, many cities that are in Paraguay are what you could call slums. There is one city in Paraguay, where they practically live in a dump. This city is called Cateura, Paraguay. Trash workers from the city dump the trash into Cateura. Every day they live in squalid conditions, but they still have hope. In this city, they find a way for children to make music without professional instruments. These children use instruments that have been made from trash. Trash pickers sort through the trash and sell most of it, but if they find and empty oil can, they will give it to Don Cola who just might make it into a boy’s cello. Don Cola has made thousands of recycled instruments so Favio Chavez can teach the children of Centura how to make beautiful music. As you can tell Paraguay is amazing no matter what comes its way. • All about Paraguay

    Paraguay is AMAZING! Most

    everyone speaks more than one

    language. However, there are many

more interesting facts than just that!

First, it is one of two landlocked countries

in Latin America! It is bordered by

Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Its capital

is Asuncion. The Paraguay River divides

the country into 2 sections. Most everyone

who lives in the countryside in Paraguay

speaks Guarani. Paraguay is famous for

their soup which was made on

    accident, there beautiful spider web

lace, and their brisk delicious tea.

In Paraguay, many of the people live in

poverty. Sadly, many cities that are in

Paraguay are what you could call slums.

There is one city in Paraguay, where they

practically live in a dump. This city is called

Cateura, Paraguay. Trash workers from the

city dump the trash into Cateura. Every day

they live in squalid conditions, but they still

have hope. In this city, they find a way for

children to make music without professional

    instruments. These children use instruments

that have been made from trash. Trash

pickers sort through the trash and sell most of

it, but if they find and empty oil can, they will

give it to Don Cola who just might make it into

a boys cello. Don Cola has made thousands of

recycled instruments so Favio Chavez can

teach the children of Centura how to make

beautiful music. As you can tell Paraguay is

amazing no matter what comes its way.

  • The Triple Alliance War

    Spider Web Lace

    Paraguay Famous Food

Paraguay fought in the Triple Alliance War. On

one side, there was Paraguay and on the other the triple

alliance of Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. This war

happed because Paraguays leader at the time was not

that smart and declared war on Argentina. Then a

secret alliance was made with Brazil and Argentina.

Eventually, Argentina and Brazil dragged another

country into this war, Uruguay. This crazy war lasted for

5 years, showing the brave Paraguayans would try no

matter what. Sadly, the result of the war ended with

Paraguay with many problems, but at least they did not

    give up.

    Spider web lace is a

    Paraguay wonder. Spider web

    laces other name is nanduti.

Spider web lace got its name

    because nanduti means

spider web in the language of

    Guarani. This lace is beautiful

    with vibrant colors and an

    intricate weave pattern.

In Paraguay, they have some very famous foods

there. The 1st one I am going to talk about is the Sopa

Paraguaya, or more commonly known as Paraguayan

Soup. This soup is not really a soup at all. It is more

like cornbread with more cheese and onion and more

ingredients. This soup was accidently made when the

Paraguayan dictator Carlos Antonio Lopezs cook put

way to much corn flour to a more soup like lunch meal.

Luckily, for this cook, Lopez was pleased with this

soup. Secondly, is the tea. It is made throughout

Paraguay, and very famous. Many people like it,

including Uruguayans and southern Brazilians. Im

telling you, everybody loves it! Most people like it hot,

but in hot Paraguay, they love it chilled. As you can see

Paraguay has a lot to offer and will continue to make

    these fun, traditional Paraguay food.
