Page 1 Dear Teacher Educator, DSERT The Department of State Educational Research and Training, popularly known as DSERT is the academic wing of the Department of Public Instruction. It aims at providing academic leadership in school education as well as improving the quality of education provided in primary and secondary scho ols in the state. The Department of state educational research and Training (DSER T), a premier institute in the space of research and training in the Karnataka education sp ace has tremendo us potential to cater to the needs of teacher education. DSERT innovates lot of new programs to enhance the capacities of Teacher educators and thus to increase the quality of the teaching learning processes in the schools. It is a matter of immense pleasure that DSERT along with TESS India are organising ‘Teacher Educator Conference’ which is schedu led to happen from 11 th  Mar’15 to 12 th  Mar’15 in Bangalore. The sessions would be relevant to the work areas of the teacher educators. The theme of the conference would revolve around teacher education development. TESS (Teacher Education through School based Support) The TESS-India project is led by The Open University in the UK and is funded by UK aid from the UK government. It is working towards improving the quality and quantity of teacher education in India. Initiated in November 2012, the project focuses on the professional development of teacher educators and teachers in the states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Karnataka, Assam and West Bengal. Our goal is to encourage student-centric, active teaching and learning pedagogies at both elementary and secondary school levels across India. It is our belief that participatory teaching and learning practices are crucial to an e nhan ced classro om experien ce. The TESS-India approach uses high-quality teacher development units (TDUs) and leadership development units (LDUs) for teachers and school leaders to use in their everyday work. These flexible, adaptable and modifiable open resources demonstrate active learning pedagogies through practice. Our TDUs cover hard topics from elementary and secondary maths, science, English, and mother tongue. The LDUs cover topics on leadership and school management.     Timeline The deadline for submission of papers would be 28.2.2015 5.30 pm, beyond which the entries will

    not be entertained

    Final Decision

    Final decision in terms of selection and rejection of the entries will completely be with the

    committee constituted for scrutinizing the paper

    PAPER PRESENTION FORMAT

    1. Paper details

    Participants of the Conference should present the paper, which would either be written specifically

    for the Conference within the announced topic, or previously not published anywhere else. The

    paper should be sent in both English and Kannada

    2. Document format

    All parts of the paper must be contained in a single file (one each for Kannada and English) . Papers must be in Microsoft Word format and have a .doc or .docx file extension. Papers that do not conform to this rule, such as papers in PDF format or using a .dat file extension, will not be accepted.

    3. Paper Size and Margins All pages of the papers must be A4 size, 8.5 x 11 inches (21 x 29.7 cm), with equal margins of 2.54 cm on all four sides. The Organizing Committee may reformat a paper that does not comply with this rule. Participants are advised that such reformatting may result in changes to pagination and layout.

    4. Font and Font Size The font and size of the text of all parts of the paper, excluding the Cover Page, but including the footnotes, must be in Times New Roman 12-point, double-spaced, for Kannada Tunga (Unicode) with font size 12 should be used.

    6.List of References The List of references must list all legal authorities cited in any part of the paper and must indicate the page number(s) of the paper on which each authority is cited.

    7. Plagiarism

    The papers should align and conform to the rules and regulation of plagiarism.

    8. Length The word count shall be conducted using the standard "Word Count" feature in Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft Word 2007, or Microsoft Word 2010. The length of the Abstract shall not exceed 500 words. The overall length of the Research paper should not exceed 3600 words.
