Introduction:• The main theme of Kanthapura is the struggle for freedom in India . Theme:•Kanthapura is Gandhian novel. The impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s principals is very brilliantly exhibited in this novel by Raja Rao.

•The action takes place in a small village named Kanthapura in the province of Mysore state.

•Murthy, the central character of the novel is seen as a Gandhi, who completely follows Gandhi’s principles of non violence and equality.

Kanthapura is the image of all villages in India, under the influence of Gandhian principles. In this novel we also find the problem of untouchably, poverty, sexual exploitation and caste- society.

Really it depends on how you perceive the novel, some may say it’s one of the greatest love stories of all time and rank Catherine and heath cliff on the same level as Romeo and Juliet, other will not see how and may say it is a tale of revenge.

The concept that almost every reader of Wuthering Heights on is the passion love of Catherine and Heath cliff, often to the exclusion of every other theme- this despite the fact that other kinds of love are presented and that dies half way through the novel .
